I am geeking! Read the books and the movie was a bedtime story for me, for many years.... Thank you guys!

Love the movie, still do, but THE SHOW is so great and all of it is Ann Rice's work. The show had more freedom and time, so it gave what most people wanted to see that couldn't be in the film. I still come back to the movie from time to time. It's the reason I started the show: I had been a fan for so long. I've rewatched Interview with the Vampire (AMC) 9 times, YES I love it that much lol. Starting my 10th this week.

Summer Mendoza

Aww, Christian Slater was still a baby here. I also think this was the first time Tom Cruise played a villain-ish type character.

Summer Mendoza

It’s crazy that they didn’t have to use any makeup effects for Brad Pitt. (Kidding.)

Summer Mendoza

I hate the scene when they introduce Antonio Banderas’s character. There is no reason that actress had to remove all of her clothes other than male gaze and rape culture.

Summer Mendoza

Side note, Tom Cruise will never go full gay, because of his cult Scientology.

Alexis Angiano

To quote my letterboxd review while watching with you guys. Not gay enough but I’ll take it. Like okay Brad Pitt give us nothing. Tom Cruise give us everything. And Kirsten Dunst give her an Oscar.

Lauren Reid

Oh, this film has epic levels of queer subtext/queer coding. I was obsessed with Anne Rice growing up, so I have always had a fondness for this movie (and let's not forget Queen of the Damned!! Which will be in S3!). The series is amazing, but sometimes you just want to cuddle under a kinda stupid, camp, gay blanket of vampires. I think the Pride and Prejudice analogy works (except imho the production quality is reversed lol, sorry series fans, but you know your show was filmed at the bbc in the 90s - also i saw the seties then the movie but like the movie slightly more). Also!! Rizzo absolutely clocked the music is totally by the guy who did those Batman movies!

Tito

Im reminded of my favorite quote from the animated show Archer when it comes to staking someone in the heart. Someone says 'he's not a vampire' and then they say 'doesn't matter to the stake'. 😹😹

This movie is a favorite of many and while I don't enjoy it much at all because the show is so good I can understand why it appealed to so many. Very hard for me to get past white slave owner Louis I fear. Season 3 of the show actually has an extended look trailer that I really hope you guys react to at some point! Also: - The show told the same story, but changed the timeline so it wasn't pre or post the movie. The book and movie begins the story in the 1700s, but the show starts it in the early 1900s instead. - Queen of the Damned is actually the 3rd book in the series and Season 3 of the show will be adapting the 2nd book, The Vampire Lestat. I think watching the Queen of the Damned movie is worthwhile for Aaliyah alone but it WILL spoil some plot points to come.

Yall made me have to watch the show

I love the movie but the show definitely does more for me. I agree with yall tho that this works better for just wanting to sit down and watch something kinda spooky and campy to set the mood. But Louis in the show has so much more character to me (both in the book and the movie). I love Tom Cruise’s portrayal tho cause it’s, he’s the definition of you love to hate him

Looking at Tom’s character I can’t unsee Carlisle 😂

This part so funny (cus of the time period ) Rizzo's "goddamn... there's like danger on every corner' 9:40ish mark
