:D No worries again Veggie! Thanks so much for the little bonus video, I hugely appreciate it. And you're right, the fact that people do get hugely emotionally invested in characters and end up debating their behaviour so heavily is a sign of how much people care about this series. I personally get fatigued by it, but just because it's not my cup of tea doesn't mean it's not valuable conversation. You're right that I am thinking a lot about Snape, and the Marauders, and other "controversial" characters that have both die-hard fans and haters. It just seems like fandom can end up feeling like everyone is score-keeping the morally good and morally bad of each other's favourite characters and attacking each other for liking one over another, when ultimately this is a fictional series and there is no right or wrong about who you find likeable or unlikeable. It's fine to like a flawed character. It's not hypocritical to dislike a character who's flawed in a similar way. We all emotionally attach to different characters for different reasons, often based on a few small things that we personally relate to or that really tug on our heart strings. Sometimes people seem to feel that in order to justify their love of a character they need to rewrite their flaws and bad decisions, but to me that takes away from the story that is being told.

I wish people would like and dislike who they do and not fight with others about it. It's why I won't comment on so many things because people are just rude and ridiculous. Personally, I've never liked Harry or Dumbledore, but I won't usually mention that in things due to people's reactions. However, I hardly ever like main characters, so it's par for the course for me. My friend, on the other hand, absolutely loves those two characters. We can totally coexist and be friendly with each when talking about it, unlike a whole lot of people it seems.

That is so interesting what you said about not tending to like main characters! I think I am actually kinda the same! As for commenting, I really do hope you can feel free to comment any opinion on here without fear out backlash. You can always DM me them (starting your message with 'Book Club -') and even ask it to be read anonymously if you prefer. But either way, you should always be able to air your take on any of the characters!

There are some main characters that I do like, but most I don't. People always ask me how I enjoy all these shows and movies so much when I really do not like the main characters. It's the other characters and stories that I'm there for.
