SPOILER ALERT! - If you have not watched the show before, don't read the following review until you have! :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We bloomin' made it! Even with the title of the episode, I wasn't expecting us to actually reach the North Pole!

I bloomin' love the Water Tribe city! What an incredible design, and the way it all works, I definitely have an even bigger appreciation for their skills!

The bloomin' Katara fight was brilliant! I was advised that this episode had a scene missing in some versions, so thank you for the warnings, and thanks for to those that helped make sure I had the right version.... was it really THIS they cut?????

Oh bloomin' wow, it looks like we are ready for the season finale! I discuss how we are going to do it at the end of the video. I think I have come up with the fairest way of doing it. :)

Hope you had a great week, guys!!

Well as a patron already I am obviously a big fan of your proposal at the end in regards of the 2-parter 😁

Rey's Got Plans

I am so happy to be a Patreon and I do think it's incredibly fair of you doing it this way. Huge thank you for taking our advice and giving a happy medium! Hope this gets you more sign ups as well. I love this episode as it really demonstrates Kataras inner fire and strength, especially when figjting for what's right and defending fairness and equality. My favourite 🥰

Celle

I am very happy with your solution for the two parter. I am so happy how kind and fair you are to us with this and your entire patreon! Have a great day!

Loved this episode and reaction! The part that was cut on the paramount version was the fight scene between Katara and Master Paku. Why? No clue lol. But it was such an amazing scene. I love how Katara always massively improves her skill and focus when she taps into her emotions.

The fight scene was exquisite and creative, I like it a lot as a demonstration of water's flexibility and adaptation (which is ironic considering how inflexible their traditions are). I'm very happy about your decision by the way! The way you care about your viewers is kinda sweet)))

I've only seen the full series once before a couple years ago so I'm no expert on how it "should" be watched, but I think the plan decided on here is a great way to handle it.

Hey Veggie, we're nearing the end of season 1 of ATLA and I realized you haven't said your favorite person from each episode in a while. I'm excited to see if you have a favorite character from season 1 once you finish. Loved how you recognized the pirate guy and perfectly quoted his line. "that's good". Had a good laugh at that. Looking forward to the last two, take care my dude

Maria

Hi Veggie! You were correct when you said "maybe Zuko was able to bend the fire" during the explosion. If you watch carefully, you can see him start to bend the fire right before we cut away to the explosion.

Madikuma95

I'd love to answer your question about female Fire and Earthbenders but I've gotta wait. XD This episode is why I'm not hard on Sokka about his sexism; it seems more like a cultural failing than a personal one. I do like that Katara doesn't win the duel; she's an excellent Waterbender but she still has room to learn.

Great episode! Great solution for the ending 2 episodes I really thought you ought to watch them together even if it didn't come out for everyone together but this solution is great. I am excited to get into season 2, it is my favorite season, not that 3 is bad either but 2 is just my jam for sure.

Deadshot1999

Excited for the next 2 episodes!!!

Kael Johnsen

That is the best way to do it. And a dollar is not much to pay either. I am sooo exited for the next one

loftypenalty91

The finale for book 1 is fantastic. I'm really looking forward to your reaction to it.

Veggie, you're a sweetheart! One day your head's gonna explode, cause you try to please everyone! But I think your happy medium decision is the best of all worlds. The difference between the southern and northern water tribe is absolutely fascinating. I think the southern tribe was always more spread out and "rural", so the fire nation had an easier time picking them off one after the other. That is why there are so few and no benders (except of course Katara). The northern tribe is a bigger society, so they were able to defend themselves better and built a big city and whatnot, but that also means that they have way more rigid hierarchies, and the traditional gender roles of the times are even more pronounced and separated. Funnily enough, Sokkas was sorta right proclaiming himself a prince. He IS the son of a southern water tribe chief. Since they lack the northern structure of hierarchy, the argument could be made that it is the equivalent to "prince". Obviously noone would ever say that and you have to be very loose with your definition of that word, but the argument can be made...

What I love this about this episode is that it sort of takes a left turn from what you expect. The whole season has been leading up to Aang learning waterbending. You almost forget that learning from a master has been Katara's dream much longer than Aang (in practical terms). We get a pivotal Katara focused episode almost out of nowhere.

Maia Brodsky

Seriously? Did they cut the whole fight or just parts of it?

LouShirley

Finally caught up 💃🏻

Agreed on the prince point. Not too sure how it is in English, but at least in German "Prinz" applies to the sons of many levels of nobility, so you're a prince no matter whether your father is king, duke, count or whatever.

PumpkinSparks

And with that comment you activated my special interest, so buckle down I will try to make it as concise as possible! English titles work quite differently than germans. Generally speaking the title prince or princess is reserved for direct decendants of the ruler. In England it is even more complicated - there you have to be male line decendant. Like Princess Eugenie is allowed to use that title since she is the daughter of Queen Elizabeths son, but her children are not. I would not be surprised if they might change that though, since they changed the succession law from male-preference to absolute primogeniture. When we come to the peerage and gentry (so basically everyone else with a hereditary title) their children are usually refered to as Lord and Lady. There are some exeptions, like it is not uncommon for a Duke (highest rank of the peerage) to bestow an honorary title of Marquess to their eldest son and heir. There are two big exeptions to that general rule though. The husband of a Queen Regnant would be refered to as a prince (like Prince Phillip). And they acknowlede other countries titles even if that doesn't fit their own rule - like refering to the offspring of german nobility as prince/princess (since that is our custom), or exepting the existence of principalities like Luxemburg or Monaco. So that is my very surface level overview of how english titles work in regards to "prince". Thank you for coming to my TED talk you didn't know you unleashed :)
