Hi guys! Merry Christmas, here is the movie that came first in the Xmas Poll!

This was... NOT what I was expecting at all! XD They added so, so much to the story, and yet re-did those we know so well!

Carrey is excellent in this! Such a physical performance!

Love you, guys! This was a real treat! :)

The actor for Cindy Lou quit acting to focus on a music career, she’s the lead (I think) singer on a rock band called ’the pretty reckless’, she did a cover of ’where are you Christmas’ in her current music style, https://youtu.be/z1XRh1JZpPs?si=z7ox8_UA0IM6jXH6

Good for her! That is awesome (and a very good band name)

personally i would rather have the book club then another Christmas movie :) Cindy Lou Who grew up to be a singer in the metal band "The Pretty Reckless". would the Grinch approve?

Jim Carrey was close to quitting this movie because of how painful the grinch suit and prosthetics were and how long they took to apply that the director brought in a CIA torture specialist to help him cope with the process

Take a swig of water every time Veggie says 'Max'. You'll be the most hydrated you've been in years

The part where the Grinch is pretending to be a director was a parody of Ron Howard himself. It wasn't in the script and Jim Carrey improved it in the moment as a playful jab at Ron Howard. Howard couldn't stop laughing and put it in the movie. Also the tablecloth bit was also unintentionally improved. In the script he was supposed to rip the cloth off the table and everything on it crashes to the floor as expected. But when Carrey did the scene he somehow accidentally did the tablecloth trick, ripping the cloth out from under everything without knocking them to the floor. He then stormed back over and knocked everything off in a moment of improv. 😂

Also you absolutely must check out The Silence of the Lambs. Idk who told you it has problems but it is one of the greatest movies of all time. An absolute masterpiece!! Lol and yes I'll admit I'm a bit bias because it's my favorite movie. But there's evidence to back up my claim. For starters it is used in film schools as a reference on how to do a movie right. But most notably is the awards it won. The Big 5 Oscar awards are Best Actor Best Actress Best Director Best Screenplay/Adaptation Best Film of the Year In the history of filmmaking there have been only 3 movies to ever take all 5. The Silence of the Lambs was one of them. That said I should warn you that it's not a movie for the faint of heart. It's R-rated for a very good reason. But it is so so good! Also if you're curious the other 2 films that took the Big 5 are It Happened one Night (1934) and One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)

You should definitely check out the song. The video makes reference to the movie and I feel the theme might be good for you right now. :)

I know Slytherin Apollo already mentioned this, but the actress that plays Cindy Lou Hoo (Taylor Momson) went on to be the front woman for the band "The Pretty Reckless". They just released a full length rock version of "Where are you Christmas?" And the music video includes some nice nods to her character. She did act until she was a young adult. Most notably on the show Gossip Girl. Her band has a pretty heavy metal sound. If you're interested in their regular music I would recommend "Take Me Down" or "25" as good songs that aren't as heavy metal as their more famous songs.

I'm glad you enjoyed this one I've always loved it!

Thanks a lot for covering these movies Veggie. I hadn't seen the original odr this version bevore and I honestly don't know if I ever would have wihout you. But it really was a blast! And I think you covering the original first was a stroke of genius. Because it made this version just so much better since one understood all the reverences to the original.😊

Tiny bit of trivia to connect it back to Buffy. The actor playing the young version of the Grinch played Timmy in Passions (the one Spike loves to watch :-) sadly he passed away in 2002.

I remember watching this when it came out and almost wanting to hate it on purpose, and early on in the film I thought I would be proven right; yet as it got going, I found myself drawn into its fun, charm and warmth, and despite myself, ending up loving it!

Was going to save this one but i felt sad so i put it on. Jim bloody carey, what an absolute legend

Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen (Cindy Lou) actually met each other for the first time in 25 years a few weeks ago. It was some Rock and Roll Hall of Fame event, she has a band and was there for that, and he was a friend of one of the bands involved. So of course they had to go see each other when they realized the other one was there

They also tour with ACDC. I've always thought that was cool.
