Hey guys! It's that time of month again (and I actually managed to hit it this time XD)What a great chapter, and possibly the most infuriating Umbridge (no, I will NOT be calling her what you guys call her XD) so far?We also discuss how we should go about covering the next two chapters, so PLEASE let me know what you think works best (and please be 100% honest, and please respect others if they would prefer something else).I think the tangents are pretty few in this one (thank god), but we also discuss dreams, how the world is right now, wrestling (as usual), my struggles with Critical Role 2, the theme tune to Mutiny on the Buses and a big hill in the Cotswolds.

Ahh I was half a day late to comment this month! Just finished listening to the last one though. To answer your question considering Kit Harington as Lockhart, I only found out in the credits since I didn't recognize his voice at all! Currently into the third book and I really like the casting overall, I haven't had a character yet that felt strange to me voice-wise

one more thing, i know the next two chapters are long but they kind of “go together” so i personally think it would be beneficial to do them both in one video. but i understand your concerns about length and depth, maybe we just REALLY need to keep our comments short and possibly skim through the other comments first before commenting.

Just an idea I have, that might sound silly, but I guess it's worth sharing: What if you give yourself some extra time for 2 chapter videos, say a week extra? And shorten the time before 1 chapter videos. Say, roughly 5-6 weeks before a 2 chapter video, and roughly 3-4 weeks before a 1 chapter video. That would make the pacing flow better, for example for the next two chapters that should probably be read together in one, but without having the stress of needing to have it out by the end of the month. But adding in some one chapter videos here and there, with a little bit of a shorter wait, would keep the pace and consistency of the whole project in about the same timeline.

I think doing one chapter for when one or both of the chapters are really long would be better cus we can get more detail, but chapters 22 and 23 really go together so I’d do those as a double but maybe give yourself an extra week or 2 to do the video

So sorry about this, John! You are absolutely right. I have no idea why I thought he said Hagrid instead of Padfoot. Things seem to change from when i hear them and I don't know how to explain, but that is a really bad mistake by me.

I am so sorry, guys. It actually IS "Padfoot" that Harry is writing too, not Hagrid. I genuinely don't know why these things happen, as I promise you I rewatch the scenes just before reviewing them. This is a really horrible feeling and I don't know why this keeps happening.

So I do think its fine with me if you do 1 chapter at a time for the next 2 but it is completely your call! I am so excited for the full cast audiobook for order to come out so I can listen to it for these book clubs, only a few more months!

I agree with comments saying 22 and 23 go together, and also that youd be more than welcome to take longer to make the video HOWEVER id strongly suggest doing separate videos. Id predict a larger volume of comments and a there will be many longer comments. 6 hours for both chapters seems optimistic. For future longer chapters id lean the other way, and say dont split them up. But chapter 23 in particular is so significant i feel its definitely worth its own video

There are several luna scenes added to the movies that aren't in the book, i think they are all brilliant, i absolutely love evanna lynch and her portrayal of luna. I love book luna too, but shes a different character really, i can completely understand why they used her they way they did in the films

the care of magic creatures lesson was fine. remember this is an elective class you are hear because you are interested in magic creatures. i would not say asking Nevil what she did was not the worst, but it was surly not appropriate. i would say the correct term is the bread of dog you have not "sight hound". if you say i have a sight hound the next question is "what kind?". you have a saluki-greyhound, but an Irish wolfhound is also a "sight hound" the 2 are nothing alike other then there reliance on sight over smell. your video quality is fine. people who complain are resolution snobs

I honestly think both options (doing only one chapter OR taking longer to do both chapters) are good options. So whatever works best for you Veggie! I will say tho, the comments will probably be very long if you do both chapters, so maybe if you film the book club across a couple of days, it may work better for you.

The thin blue line Cho and harry were together for half an hour so you never know, suppose it's a bad time to mention that the resat of the books forget all this vodemort stuff and just focus on teen angst and unwanted teen prenancies. Not Shure how coming of age works for wizards it must just be a reference to the use of magic and nothing else otherwise how would you police inter muggle relationships in England, the wizard would be arrested even though under uk law it's legal. Hermione's attitude about cho is more of a case of it's about time as she's been waiting for harry to get his act together. On weird dreams I once dreamt I was staring in a musical film version of Romeo and Juliet set in an American mall where it was rival punk roller-skating gangs, I also finished the dream there was credits and everything, thankfully it was one of the versions where they're both alive at the end so I was pretty cuffed to be alive at the end. Hartnell couldn't be harry potter as there aren't any sergeants in it, If you know hartnells typecasting problem you'll understand this. We need a scene of ron asking harry if he's serious and harry replying no ron I'm harry remember. Harry not telling Hermione about the hats is more a case of him not knowing how to broach the subject.

I think the next book club should cover two chapters, because they fit well together in terms of content. Also, the next TEN chapters will all be around 50 minutes or more. Unless you decide to have single-chapter book clubs every month, I'm afraid you'll just have to power through them. However, I think chapters 28 and 29 should each be single-chapter book clubs! Most people agree those are all-time great chapters with a lot to talk about. You can of course have other single-chapter book clubs as well, but I think those two SHOULD be.

Unfortunately Veggie, the next 10-11 chapters are all around the 50 minute mark. The next two chapters fit neatly together, it would honestly be very weird to split them up. Still, they are chunky chapters with a lot of detail, whatever you decide to do we'll watch/listen. Chapter 28 should definitely be stand-alone. 29 should too come to think of it.

I was thinking about your dream Veggies, and from the off it sounded strange, as I knew William Hartnell died a long time ago, 30 years before the release of the first HP film! I wondered if you perhaps were dwelling on a film or tv series featuring William and Robert Hardy, who played Fudge, and was acting for decades himself; but no, according to IMDB they never worked together in film, though perhaps they did on some tv show, or on stage. Hence I dunno why you came up with that in your dream! They are strange things dreams, they seem like the most important thing in the world if you are having a restless night, then when you get up, you forget all about them, unless they are particularly vivid or a nightmare. Nicely brings us into this chapter though with Harry's vision. Btw while I remember, the new audiobooks are available (for the first three books I believe with the rest to follow soon); perhaps you might want to look into them, or see what you think about them in future, as you'll still be covering these books for a few years yet mate! :) Disagree completely about having to take the students aside who can see Thestrals and why Veg. They aren't 11 years old now; this is symbolic of Harry and the other classmates of his year approaching adulthood, of facing death and mortality, and the time for being mollycoddled, is past. And for Harry, who has already endured so much, stuff like this is literally childs play. You didn't mention that Hagrid then continues about Thestrals being potentially dangerous, that a dog could be dangerous if provoked too; and as you own a dog Veg I know you realise this. Thestrals are no more dangerous than horses if spooked, but since they are trained by Hagrid, this is a non-issue. He has brought in more dangerous stuff to his classes sure, but you are being biased against him this scene Veg. Hagrid seems to be the irk of you these days now you have moved on from Harry! ;) Umbridge is being particularly spiteful towards Hagrid during the teaching scene, and its horrible; but I don't think its particularly bad that she asks Neville who he saw die. Its no worse than if someone in our family dies and are asked about it, and we tell them. Sure, some memories can be rawer than others, my own mother who I was close to, died just 6 months ago, and I still dwell on her daily; but if asked, I have no issue telling those about it. Neville too has been through worse, than watching his grandfather buy it. Also stop fretting about this 6 hour nonsense. I have vids in my Youtube playlists that are 11 hours long; these 10 hour repeat stuff are popular there too. Don't rush through it just because you feel you need to. Harry knows Hermione is just being curious when she speaks out of turn about wanting to see Thestrals, hence why he doesn't admonish her about it. He knows she didn't mean anything more by it. If you want to know the opposite of a word, type the word in and then type antonym. So for the opposite of inept, you type "inept antonym" which yields "adept", so you were correct Veg. Hermione is not jealous in any way about anything in her talk to Harry about Cho! She is being a good friend by being reasonable to him about the situation, and asking what he thinks of this potentially nascent relationship with Cho. We have all had friends like that I'm sure where they are there to spell things out to us when we are confused about how to feel or behave. Hermione's business-like dialogue to Harry is offering him clarity, nothing more. Harry says about Arthur's attack being "serious" not bloody "Sirius"!! Sometimes you really need to pay attention more Veg I'm afraid to say...

I wasn't a massive fan of Sirius' voice. But Iwan Rheon killed it as Lupin. So did Pettigrew's VA come to think of it.

Ohhh yes I was like "I know this voice!!" for the whole book, and Ramsay friggin' Boulton??? I agree with you on Sirius, I had to get used to his voice but it is kind of growing on me the more I listen to it

I know a lot of people think that the next two chapters should go together and I can see why, but I also think that there’s so much going on that I would hate to not be able to cover it as in depth as we would like. Personally, I would like to be able to hear more of your thoughts about them and do them separately.

I don’t think it makes sense to think of it as making the project longer because you are only doing one chapter instead of two, when that one chapter is easily as long as two chapters were in the past. The books are longer, it would be unreasonable to expect you to cover them in the same amount of time it took to cover shorter books. As the books get longer, so do the chapters. If you try to cover two at once the whole way through you will just burn yourself out and we will get less content that is lower quality, in my opinion. I’m sure there will be people that disagree with me, but I don’t know what they are doing here if they aren’t primarily interested in seeing you be able to really dig into the text. In my opinion, you taking the same amount of time to cover the same length of actual text (which is what you are doing when you do take the especially long chapters one at a time), feels like a win/win. But maybe you could do a poll or something that would give you a more accurate picture of how everyone feels. I don’t want you to feel bad either way, though, cause even though we are paying to be here, this is still your life and your channel, and in the end, making the decision that is best for you *will* mean that your content is better and will attract the people it’s really for. At the end of the day, you will never make everyone happy, so never sacrifice your health or wellbeing in the attempt.

Thanks Veggie for the good wishes for my inspection! If anyone is interested, it happened today and the people assessing me were faaaaar from Umbridge level, luckily 😅 my class was really supportive too, answered my every question, behaved well and did their group work task great, so I got really positive feedback! 😊 I won't know the exact results for weeks still, but I'm sure I've passed from what they said 😊

How about this as a mid point between the extra time overall if you just do 1 chapter and the amount of time it takes you to complete 2 chapters in one go. Why not do 2 chapters but give yourself 6 weeks to do it instead of 4. It will mean the reviews aren’t at the same time each month but hopefully nobody will mind that if you let us know roughly when to expect it.

Something I was thinking of with your concern about videos going over 6 hours; would it work to post it as 2 videos? One video for your chapter review, and another one for the book club? Although as others have said, some of the chapters are longer, and it may be best overall to just accept that those chapters need to be done one at a time.

I've noticed the reactions to Hermione's "just because you've got the emotional range of a teaspoon" line are different in the book and the movie. In the book she slings that line at Ron as a bit of an insult, and goes back to what she was doing, while in the movie they all start laughing. I've never really liked that scene in the movie.
