SPOILER ALERT! - If you have not watched the show before, don't read the following review until you have! :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRESSFUL!! I had no idea we would be getting this side of the story, and we go through pretty much every emotion!

I swear, my heart went crazy when Suki found Appa!!

This has to be one of the most stressful episodes, right? I loved it, but definitely very tough to watch at times.

Hope you had a great week, guys!!

Oh my, you have been busy today! Bit of Jonny depp to lighten the mood will go down well after this emotional journey

38 minutes into watching pirates with you and you drop this, gotta pause pirates for this award winning episode!!!!

Alex Hopps

Im glad i hadnt put pirates on yet! Better to get the crying out of the way first

Cari Ann

Absolutely love this episode, the humane society awarded them the genesis award for outstanding children's program for this episode particularly highlighting the animal abuses in the circus. I just love that we spent a whole episode with appa, I remember watching this as a kid and every episode just waiting to see appa again so finding out everything he had been through I cried several times in this one. Loved suki helping him and I also hated that they cut the rest of the fight, another cliff hanger to deal with there.

Rold

So glad I had this show as a kid, for sure feel like it gave me better morals and such :D What an episode! Ahahah advised not to read the title nice <3

This is the episode I always have to fight tears the hardest lol And about your statement at the start, you do not know yet how much of a hole this show will leave behind. Its not even funny anymore. I wish I have my own Team Avatar in my life man

Noooo Veggie, please don't skip your notes, they're the best part of your reactions! Also, particularly the bit with Appa biting the thing he bit when he was little and coughing makes me the most sad for some reason. He'll never have his peers and family and home back. All he has is Aang

PumpkinSparks

This episode really is a roller coaster of emotions. My heart breaks for Appa everytime I watch this and seeing what he went through in this relative short amount of time :( He really is such a sweetheart! Can you believe that you thought he was scary when you first met him?

JosieMorita

I think this is the episode where the very popular conspiracy theory comes from that the cabbage guy is actually a fire nation spy because where would all those gabbages come from otherwise?

Kael Johnsen

Also, momo wakes up when appa screams when he is captured. In the last episode. The sand boat the gaang got in the dessert was the one appa sneezed away. Aang also was wrong when he felt appas presence when we went there first bc appa wasnt in ba sing de by then. Also ty lee telling the girls they are not as pretty as them is something you should note

A hard to watch but excellent episode. Not a lot of shows would have the guts to portray animal abuse this openly. Btw, a lot of people freak out at the line "maybe we could sell him for parts". I thinks its often misinterpreted this as them wanting to...well....you know. However, I believe that they actually mean to use the profit of selling him to purchase "parts" for whatever equipment they use. It makes more sense grammatically.

VeggieGamer

Yeah I must admit that was where my mind went to in the moment, now I realise it doesn't make much sense XD

Well, what a nice cry I had! My heart always breaks for Appa in that episode. If you will rewatch the desert episode, maybe your heart will break harder this time like ours did cause now you know more about the connection Appa and Aang have. We could see how small Appa was when they met and Aang didn't had his arrows then... The way they are bonded for life... And also we already discussed how much Aang lost since the Airnomads being wiped out... Appas memorys were full with brothers and sisters or at least just other bisons.. his family and friends. Just gone. Except Momo and Aang. It's so Heartbreaking.... Anyway, great reaction as always. Have a great week Veggie!

Wow, I didn't know "Galifrey Pals" were doing avatar...I'll have to have a look at their reaction at some point!

Diego Zenhäusern

Oh yeah, that's right, I totally forgot that he did find him scary at the beginning!😅

VeggieGamer

Yeah it is in their playlists! Think they covered it years ago :) (even befor their Red Dwart series, which is where I discovered them).

Eudaimonist

A lot of people don't pick up on this, but when Guru Patik says that he's been waiting a long time, he isn't kidding. if you notice, Guru Patik said he went to the EASTERN air temple because of his vision about helping Aang, but Aang is from the WESTERN Air Temple. The Eastern Temple is where he was supposed to be sent for training when he ran away and ended up in the iceberg. Guru Patik has been waiting there patiently for 100 years, never giving up on the vision he had, even when the Avatar disappeared for a century.

Diego Zenhäusern

I actually found them only recently and for their name giving doctor who reactions😅🙂

veggie thank u soo much for sharing and being so vulnerable in the intro i think it’s that vulnerability that makes both atla and you something special!

Kael Johnsen

Also will you be making the season finale the same way you did the s1 finale?

Maia Brodsky

You already did hear a bit of the new Iroh VA in the previous episode- the scene in Iroh's tale when he was with the kids playing the game. I think it's just one or two lines. However, it's just a bit of a test cameo at this point I guess. This episode had Mako for his one line to Zuko when he saw Appa.

Logical Dreamer

Galifrey Gals have a good Avatar Reaction! I also recommend Bad Medicine. They are fun to watch too. ^_^ I love your reaction Veggie. This episode is so well done I've been excited for you to watch it

Lukas

Aang is from the SOUTHERN, not western temple. That's the first they visit on their way from the SOUTHpole. Could be that he was born at a different one, but at least if your theory is correct and Patik went to the eastern temple when Aang was being sent there, then Aang was at that point in the south, not west.

Eudaimonist

Oh, okay, thanks for the clarification. And its not my personal theory. I've seen it said in a few places, and it seemed pretty established. Maybe I was mistaken, and it's a theory, but I was fairly certain.

Lukas

So much happening this episode, that I noticed something new even now watching it for what feels like the 100th time: When Suki & co find Appa, we know we are after the Serpents pass (they mention Suki meeting the GAang). At the end of Serpents pass, the drill is already in front of Ba Sing Se, with Azula in it. Azula then proceeds to fight Aang, so she knows he is in Ba Sing Se. Why is she suddenly again out in the wild following random fur trails? Doesn't have to be a plot hole, but seems quite strange / convenient (or inconvenient) to me.
