I must admit... I really like the way Wood's story has changed! This one had some hilarious cuts and moments, but I am with Giles, time to get serious!

Andrew with the key info!!?

Love you, guys~

I love the callbacks in this episode. We see Andrew setting up a new microwave after the Dawn broke the last one. We also see Anya cleaning a stain on Buffy’s shirt, which she says might be pizza. It was in fact the pizza that Dawn spilled on it. In the same episode that she broke the microwave. I’m a little mixed on whether Giles is right about taking things more seriously. I do think they need to take the threat of the First more seriously, but I also think it’s important to balance a serious situation with some levity. Great reaction, Veggie!

Lissa was played by 2000's pop princess Ashanti.

This was a really good episode with a lot going on!

No idea how you knew Chao-Ahn's name before she was introduced this episode. A kayak and a canoe are two different things. And I agree with you about the writing always being on the wall about that one GoT character. I never found her to be a very compelling character either.

Hi Maia! In episode 12 of Season 7, Buffy is on the phone in her office as Amanda walks in, and says "Has Giles checked in yet? He was meant to be picking up that Cho-Ahn girl from Shanghai yesterday". Naturally, I wrote the spelling down incorrectly, hence why it sounds like I say 'Wong' instead of 'Ahn, but she was mentioned before this episode. Hope that helps!

Ah, that makes sense. I was confused when you mentioned her last episode.

The picket fence moment you're thinking of might be from 1x4, Teacher's Pet - I'm pretty sure Buffy stakes the claw-wielding vampire with one when they're searching for Miss French. The first time "Googled" was used was earlier in the season when they were looking up Cassie. You caught on quick with Woods' mother being the Slayer Spike killed! It's a cool inclusion that I've always liked. It was a different actress who played her back in S5, April Weeden, who was mainly a stuntwoman: she was also the stunt double for Kendra in S2 and Gunn's sister in Angel. Lissa was played by Ashanti, who you noticed in the credits - I'm not super familiar with her but she's an R&B singer who was probably at her peak popularity in the 2000s. Maybe she was a bigger deal in the States? She's guest-starred and acted in quite a few TV shows and films though. Her design as a demon always seemed quite Nightmare Before Christmas coded to me in a way I can't quite put my finger on.

I'm not sure why, but you seem to have a habit of calling Kennedy Kendra sometimes...it can't be the accent, right? XD

I've been thinking about this for awhile... When a scene has issues you can blame any combination of the director, writers, and actors. Why do you always blame only the writers and directors? Surely the actors aren't infallible? I'm not being combative, I'm just trying to understand the logic.

Yeah I think them getting to joke around is actually essential for their mental healt at this point.🙈😅 That said I agree with Giles that now certainly isn't the moment to get into romantic shenanigs. Especially the kind of shenanigans where you go out of your way to talk people up and go on dates.😂

I'm gona be honest here I'm kind of getting fed up with the writers. At this point I'm basically convinced that they have some serious issues with morality and also no real respect for women (or a least enough of them to decide what is canon in the show). On the one hand we have Anya whos has no self respect and wants to get back together with the guy who left her at the altar. Because...I guess she's a women and so she can't help but be controlled by her feelings? And opposed to that we have Xander the male who can't do wrong. Who, in the writers minds, did nothing wrong by leaving Anya at the altar. As we've been reminded by demon gril Lissa in this episode. I guess because the writers realized that the fans weren't on their side on this point and therefore needed to reinforce that we are not made at Xander for being a dick and should finally stop holding that against him. Just as we also should not be holding it against him or even be questioning that beacme angry at Anya for having sex with someone else after he himself dumped mere hours ago. Since women are property belonging to the man they were once together with (not even are still together with) until he explicitl tells them they are not anymore...I guess? On the other hand we have Buffy and Spike. And here I honestly hoped the writers would have some self awareness/ sense of morality and would do interesting. For example show that things can never go back to how they were but that Buffy and Spike can forgive each other, work toghether and maybe even become friends. That Spike getting his soul back would make him realize that him getting together with Buffy after she r3aped him and he r3aped her would be messed up. That Buffy could see that Spike truely regretted his actions after getting his soul back and deserved a chence to start to make up for the harm he'd caused. But instead we once more have a women who is controlled by feelings and clearly unable to forgive Spike without at the same time wanting to get back together with him. I mean in Angel the writers seem at least to realize that a pairing they set up is weird and icky and nothing to root for. But here I get the honest feeling that they want us to root for the girl who was left at the altar and the girl who was in a mutually abusive relationship to get back together with their respective ex-boyfriends. And it's really starting to grate on me and disgust me and taking away from my enjoyment of the show.
