SPOILER ALERT! - If you have not watched the show before, don't read the following review until you have! :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I flipping love the 'WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON' start to this one! XD I think I kinda work out after a while, but it definitely had me super confused!

Love that we get what is pretty much a comedy episode, only for it to turn deadly serious by the end! That is one thing this show does so well.

I REALLY hope that Hawky makes it

Hope you had a great week, guys!!

Kyoshi was not young, she just looked good for her age, plus you know make up. I am not going to spoil her age though, there is comics on her. Wish we got a tv show about her lol.

Alex Hopps

I have never considered that the force ghosts are formed from their appearance on their final day. You are right it seemss to be the case for roku. It raises interesting questions id love to discuss but will have to put behind a spoiler blocker for now

To anyone who reads this, do we think his theory on this is true? We meet multiple avatars later on and none seem that old, then we see some characters in korra

Cari Ann

When I was a kid I related to katara, I wanted to be like her, wanted to be a waterbender, wanted to be brave and strong like she is and also compassionate and caring. I always liked her, shes my favorite of team avatar but I do get why some people found her annoying, I just wasn't one of those people lol.

To answer your question @6:55 Iroh was The Crown Prince, he was Fire Lord Azulon’s eldest son. revealed in Book 2 Episode 7, “Zuko Alone.”

Diego Reckholder

I never found her annoying, but inspiring. I just recently discovered people find her annoying 😆 like, in the past two years or so. People just like to dislike strong yet compassionate female charaters, I guess.

Cari Ann

I found out during the ember island players I think lol. I was like oh so thats how people see her?

Not spoilerly, The Legend of Aang is how the series was called in several other countries (like here in Brazil), as "The Last Airbender" did not translate well. It's also something new that I won't spoil, as you asked.

Katara is one of those characters I know are objectively very well written, but just don't resonate with me for some reason. I appreciate her but just enjoy other characters more. It's like a personal thing I guess. I also like Sparky Sparky Boom Man more, then Combustion man!!!

I believe it was once stated that they appear the age when they were most powerful or most significant. Which would be their prime age for most Avatars, but Roku felt like he somewhat failed during his stint as the Avatar but saved every citizen of that island including his wife on his last day - that why he appears older. In Korra we also see Aang who appears to be in his 40s or so, but we know he was older when he passed. Personally I think the animaters chose those depictions to not confuse the audience - Roku is always the old man with beard, Kyoshi is always the strong warrior, etc. And then later came up with an explanation. If that is the case, it's not a red con I mind Also, I don't know if she was a special case or if Avatars just age slower. But wasn't Kyoshi like 200 years old or something?

Alex Hopps

It is ridiculous to say that jett was too far gone! He was talking to them, its heavily implied that aang was "gone". Its just a plot hole. And thats fine. Youve come up with multiple questions ive never considered in this video. Thats why i look forward to this every week

Any episode where Katara and Toph argue with each other is gold. However, I love how unlike in season 2 episode 8, this time they actually have a really beautiful conversation together. The scene with Toph and Sokka is also a very touching one. No spoilers but in my opinion, season 3 is Katara's best season. Can't wait for the rest of the episodes.

Alex Hopps

Thats quite a cool explanation. I wasnt really aware how old aang was when he died. But i was thinking he would of been older than his spirit ghost looked. Interestingly though Iroh in korra looked really old. I know hes not an avatar but hes in the spirit world, and he would of been younger at his absolute peak

PumpkinSparks

He will always be Sparky Sparky Boom Man in our heart! As someone who was slightly annoyed by Katara as a kid, this episode didn't really change my opinion. For one, I already started to like Katara more since beginning of book 3. To be honest, mostly due to the painted lady episode followed by that outfit change - I am shallow... But also to me the water tribe outfit made her look younger (and more age appropiate), so it felt like a child whining and playing adult. Where the fire nation look makes her appear older and more "motherly", so there isn't such a stark disconnect. And two, Sokkas monologue didn't really feel like a huge revelation to me - we kinda already knew all of that and understood why she acted that way. It made me positively rething Sokka though! Not that I didn't like him, but that was an unexpected genuine and sweet moment he had with Toph, and that showed a side of him that he doesn't put forward too much.

Agreed, completely wild episode with some nice moments. Next episode is very good!

Embran

I´m sorry to say we won´t see Hawky again the remainder of the series. A pity.. Loved the spunk of the bird.

STAYoung

You can do the math (unlike Bryke) if you go back to previous Kyoshi episodes

STAYoung

Last we saw it was on Roku's bedside table as he was running out the door from the volcano right? It reasonably would have been buried under the ash so either Iroh dug it up back in the day like Indiana Jones or the Fire Nation did the same and got it themselves

Kael Johnsen

Will you do episode 10-11 as a two parter? I bellive you should as those are more signifikant than the other ones we have watched previusly

Time

Next episode is one of my favorites, I always hated on katara when I first watched the show when I was younger (not sure why) but I was just mature and can enjoy her character for what she is now.

Jake M

Your Critical Role story reminds me of an Oxventure episode I attended- the party get distracted by a furniture sale which the DM wasn't anticipating, so essentially the whole thing is improvised as they too end up on a boat, IIRC in search of chairs that were not at all important to the original plot XD

Stan Flamey

Im fairly sure iroh has rokus hair thingy because he was the crown prince and sozin said it was traditionally worn by the crown prince

Mqrx

recovered or replica

hopefulSith

They know that earthbenders exist, but they don't expect there to be an earthbender in the fire nation among them. In the colonies, sure, but not the main land.

Hi Veggie! I've been away doing my exams, so its been a treat to come back to all this wonderful content! I'm also excited to hear about the person sponsored movies! I actually thought of asking about this before, so keen for it to get going! Happy for it to be expensive, it'll be nice to work towards for a special occassion ☺️ Also! I became a Patron here because you started ATLA ! Ive loved the fully synced content but realsie I'm not watching it a second time as much on the YT channel and maybe your losing views 😔 I am really excited for Korra, it's always worth the watch and I will stay a Pateron if that goes ahead so I can experience it in its full glory, but I'm worried if I dont have time to watch it agian on YT that you'll lose views and stop watching!! What would you prefer, Pateron minimum throughout LOK, or YT views? Thank you!
