Great episode, a big shoe drops and out of character actions start to make a little more sense still a whole shoe rack of secrets to drop though (:

Generally i think though all seasons have their great episodes Buffy gets weaker in the final two seasons overall their is less tension in them (excluding the finales) but Angel Season 4 and 5 are the best for me the stakes and character work is top notch

"Shoe Rack of Secrets" was the original name of the second Harry Potter book I believe!

The last 60 seconds of this episode are wild! It still shocks me when Cordelia plunges that weapon in 😬 I agree about them always ending up on the same L.A. street corner, it's ridiculously silly but must have been a budget constraint. This show never had a huge budget and a lot was spent on make-up and special effects so they took some shortcuts in other areas. Back in the day I shipped Fred and Wesley so I was loving their storyline but now I just find it so incredibly awkward. But it does make me laugh. In addition to being the most insane season, this is also the most (probably unintentionally) funny season. That being said -- it has been, and continues to get, extremely dark, too. So excited for you to see the next few episodes!

And here we are! Finally, "Cordelia" has shown her true colours, and now looking back on her actions this season makes a lot more sense. It's tough to spot because it's quick and in low lighting, but the dagger Cordy used to kill Lilah is the same dagger offered up by The Beast to his Master in his brief scene this episode: he said it was "forged from his bones". Certainly seems like Cordelia is The Master (not that one!). "The answer is among you" indeed. Thanks, creepy White Room demon child. Now the question is how long has this been going on? It sucks to see Lilah go! I have a big soft spot for her, and Stephanie Romanov has played her excellently since Season 1. One of the things I appreciate about Angel is that it's much less formulaic than Buffy in terms of its villains, so we actually got to know Lilah as a proper character in her own right over a long span of time. But no-one's safe in this show. RIP Lilah, A.K.A. "Succubitch" (I love Lorne lol) Interesting note about the episode title: it's not called Cavalry, it's called Calvary. The show is deliberately screwing with us by dropping the word "cavalry" during the episode. Calvary refers to the hill outside ancient Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified, and it's often used as a metaphor for an experience involving great suffering. In other words, it's hiding in plain sight that things aren't going to work out. The cavalry isn't coming to save them, but the whole crew is set up for excruciating calvary. It's a fun bit of word play that a lot of people miss. In regards to Lorne, I think the answer lies in the fancy magic light show Cordelia "miraculously" came up with to "re-ensoul" Angel. That was a total fabrication, so what was the light show for? I think she used that opportunity to glamour him and fool his senses into a false positive. Angelus was obviously more than happy to play along. In defense of the moment the crew follow Angelus to that specific spot, Connor was tracking him by scent, and that's as far as Angelus got before turning back, so it makes sense they'd end up there lol. This season is basically non-stop bangers back-to-back until the end now in my opinion, can't wait for the next one!

Interesting thing about the word "cavalry", David Boreanaz (Angel/Angelos) doesn't seem to be able to say it- whenever it comes up (don't think he does here, but definitely in his other show Bones), he says "Calvary", which is where Jesus was crucified in the Bible XD

James McCarthy

I think it was the original name for Rita Skita's book about Dumbledore :-p
