Well this was... INSANE!

I was trying to work out where the series would go... I would have never guessed it would be THIS crazy!

SPOILERZ - RIP my dude. I love him!

Also... I got the wrong Rolling Stone! XD But that blew my mind!

Seriously though. What an incredible 3rd part to an amazing franchise! I really hope you enjoy the video, and have an amazing week! :)

You evil evil vegetable of a man! Posting this right the moment when I need to got to bed... I guess I'm gonna dream about chicken people and finding peanuts now........ but at least I know what I'm gonna do tomorrow night!

Alex Hopps

Haha totally agree. Very inconvenient timing

H

Oh my god, Veggie, almost every time you make a note you seem to be missing something interesting or funny on screen, hahaha. Surely you can just stop the video sometimes instead of looking away, especially now that we don't need to sync up? As always I love the reaction so far, I just started to laugh by myself because of the note thing :D I completely agree about Bill Nighy, by the way. I never really saw him as a good actor before I saw him in this.

H

I just thought it was funny, absolutely no need to say sorry! You're always good at getting the "flow" of a film despite looking away sometimes, so it's really not a problem!

Bmaster532

Bill wasn't trying to kill Will, he was walking up to him with a knife to cut out his heart.

Lazy Goat

Hi Veggie! Great reaction. Wanted to mention there's a deleted scene between Jack and Beckett that adds a lot of depth Jack. I really recommend you check it out.

Flufux

So to clarify, Jack put the sword in Will's hand and made him stab Davy Jones' heart...which made Will become the new captain, and then Bill used the knife to cut out Will's heart and put it in the chest, making Will become the new captain and thus became immortal...which stopped him from dying, but also made him bound to the Dutchman. As long as Will does the job of ferrying souls to the other side, then he and his crew will look completely human...but if he abandons his duty like Jones did, then he would become cursed to become fish people.

48:48 "Are we now in heaven?" Nope, Utah.

Timfoil

maybe instead of handwritting your notes you could type them on another screen? just something to think about

Byokko

7:45 i fully understand! if you would still watch them for patreons, then I would be very happy about that! :3 39:10 its funny how at this point, you still have not learned there is no clear "2way" or "3 way" fight, everyone is fighting against each other, allying with each other and betraying each other, scheming and backstabbing back and forth constantly XD 41:38 my second favorite tracks... i swear the strings they play on are my heartstrings T^T my favorite is coming up later (of all the movies not just the 3rd), its called "Up is Down" its my absolute favorite! 1:03:48 something a lot of ppl mix up ._. just in case! sirens are ACTUALLY not the same or similar to Mermaids. while both lure men via singing, Sirens actually birds with women faces near bodies of water - just saying 1:08:02 UP IS DOWN inc! x3 3:02:35 dear confused Veggie, 3 points i wanna clarify for you 1) the reason Bill "stabbed" will, is to cut out his heart. So yes WIll is the captain because he sabed DJs heart, and Bill just cut out the heart of Wills body to put it in the chest 2) the original mission for the Flying Dutchmen is to ferry the people who die at sea, if they don't do it, they turn all sea creature like (thats why davy jones and his crew were like that, because they neglected their duty 3) the price for the privilege of things like immortality coming with the Flying Dutchman is, that u serve THE SEA - kalypso being the sea - you ARE the sea, so you only get 1 day every decade ashore. that is the price As it was mentioned - everything has a price 3:14:19 you REALLY should make it a habit to check for after credit scenes, at least for older movies ( i believe they stopped rly doing it in the late 2010) you missed the FULL time skip scene XD 3:16:33 YES in fact. not only this movie, but i remember it specifically from this movie too. im someone who ALWAYS watches until the very end, so i tend to be the only one left in the cinema. and it happens quite a lot that ppl miss the after credits scene and the first time i watched this in cinema i was the only one left, the second time i watched it in cinema with a friend, we and a single couple were the only one left XD quite funny

snoah303

Hey Veggie, thanks for this amazing reaction! Im sure many will say this but we NEEEEEEED you to react to the cut scene, where Becket and Jack talk a bit more about their history. Its not really long, I think just 5min but it adds soooooo much. Please please react to this. Love and Greetings from Germany

VeggieGamer

Sorry Byokko. I thought I did watch the post credit scene, I must be missing something. Thanks for the explanations

VeggieGamer

Thanks for the explanation, Flufux. Sorry I didn’t get this at the time. I must admit I found it a little confusing, but it probably is just me!

VeggieGamer

Thanks for the explanation, Bmaster! Sorry I missed this during the video.

VeggieGamer

really glad you enjoyed the reaction!! What a wild movie!

Bmaster532

Of course! Awesome reaction, as always

VeggieGamer

Thanks Goat! Shame they left it out! I’ll look into reacting to it tomorrow!

On the topic of Bill Nighy, i really recommend watching Underworld and I, Frankenstein. I think he is great in those films.

Alex Hopps

Heres the thing, i cant remember many of old bills roles, but i just picture him in my head as being his character from love actually in real life. So.i cant help but love him Ill give u points for the rolling stone, im terrible with names so i get them all confused too

krissy

I would give anything to see the backstory/love story of Davy Jones and Calypso. And I love Bill Nighy's portrayal of the cursed captain. He might be my favorite character of this series! I think the only other movie I've seen him in, speaking of the Cornetto films, is Hot Fuzz. Criminally, I have never seen Love Actually.

Jordan McLaren

These films are such a wild ride, I love them so much ❤️ Watching that final battle in the cinema was awesome. I like the 4th film: it's a fun ride that's only crime is not being as good as this trilogy. The 5th film I watched only once - it had some good moments but was an overall disappointment in my opinion. I'd be happy to watch them again if you decide to react to them though, however you decide to do it :) Keith Richards is in this because Johnny Depp based his performance as Jack on him: when the filmmakers reached out to him to see if he'd be interested in a cameo, he enthusiastically agreed. Not sure if you picked up on the subtext, but he's playing Jack's father, hence the similar appearance and mannerisms. Geoffrey Rush is such a scene-stealer in this film, he's fantastic. Bill Nighy is great too - it's amazing that his performance, complete with all its subtleties and nuances, is able to come through so perfectly in CGI that's 20 years old, and still somehow better than most of what we have today. That's the magic of WETA. I echo other comments that the deleted scene between Jack and Beckett is crucial, definitely worth watching, and should never have been cut. Thanks Veggie, I've been wanting to rewatch this trilogy for a while and this was the perfect excuse :)

VeggieGamer

Oooh!! I assumed brother, but father makes a LOT more sense! XD

PumpkinSparks

tbf, I've seen a lot of reactions where people were confused about that concept. I always thought it was incredibly obvious how it works, but apparently it's vague enough for a lot of people to miss it...

PumpkinSparks

Underworld is so good! As usually the first one is by far the best, but they actually have a very intruiging world building (which other franchises don't manage). Even if that wouldn't be the case though: Bill Nighy AND Micheal Sheen? Yes please!!!

PumpkinSparks

This actually might be my favourite pirates movie... I don't know if that was the smartest idea, but I actually wrote down my thoughts as I was watching it and then I couldn't decide what I want to focus on, so here is the edited down version in cronological order - my apologies: Oh, you made tie to the Cornetto trilogy as well! That makes me very happy XD I kinda love you with coffee in your System. It certainly is a different, slightly more unhinged Energy - which I kinda dig ;) I wish caffeine would do anything for me, but it never had... I just drink coffee because I'm too picky about tea and I need something hot - and I'm always cold... I never realized, but Tia Darmas Singapour fit kinda reminds me of the painted lady (especially the hat) It's kinda hilarious that they are freezing to death on their way to the locker, but they still wear open chested linnen shirts. Maybe just wear a coat? And don't walk around barefoot? That might help The re-introduction of Jack is one of my favourite things about this whole franchise. All the different Jacks are bonkers, and you can tell how much fun Johnny had filming that scene. But it starts with the nose - we watched that in the cinema - we had a 7-8 meter high Depp nose sliding into frame in front of us! That certainly was a choice... And I love it! I recently rewatched the 2000 dungeon and dragons movie after like 20 (?) years. If you've never watched it, watch it! It's so bad, it's so great!!! But I was amazed by who is in it, and I had this one character I just couldn't place. And then I realized: It's freaking Pintel! Also yes, you will love Kings Speech! Also also, since we all agree that we hate Becket but the actor is amazing: have you ever watched 2005 Pride and Prejudice? I love your inbetween breaks. For one, it is evident that you need the break (and even more important that Wooz needs some Veggie time) but I also really like the breakdown and sorting of your thoughts. That key dog is a god, as all dogs should be! Only logical explanation!!! Can we appreciate that in the wild west sanddune scene that they gave Davey Jones not just a bucket to stand in but smaller buckets in the way from the sea to where they stood for him to get to that point? Keith Richards was one of the inspirations Depp took to create Jack Sparrow. I kinda love that they gpt him for this movie to play not just a legend among the pirates but also Jacks dad Barbossa absolutely has the athority to marry people. Back in the days when people didn't care about legal stuff but god nonsense, a marriage done by a captain on sea was the same as done by a cleric. Callipso is a greek goddess sort of (it's complicated), but her story is very different from this version. The being trapped in a way and being "betrayed" by their "love" is similar, but I put them in quotes for a reason... it's an intruiging story though! Is this a record for three outros in one video?

Margot

Love your reactions as always Veggie! I hope your views on youtube go up again soon :)) Some details you might have missed: the song at the beginning of the movie is the story about Calypso and Davy Jones, how she got trapped in human form and also a bit about the "curse" of the Flying Dutchman (Davy Jones' ship). The people being hanged sung it as a call to the brethren court, like a call for aid. The pirate lords can supposedly hear the ring of the song on the coin that was held by the boy at the start of the movie. Also I just love the tragedy of Calypso and Davy Jones' love story. She left him standing on the one day they could be together after 10 years apart, which broke his heart. But if she had met him that day, he would NOT have loved her anymore, because he loved her as the sea: wild, unpredictable and untamable. It shows how there is just a fine line between love and hate. he loves her but hates her for not showing up. He hates that he still loves her despite her breaking his heart and he loves to hate her, which is why he had her bound in human form and is so against her release. It can be a difficult movie to understand, with all of the double crossing and plotting, but you always seem to pick up on those kinds of things rather quickly :D Also they deleted quite some scenes, so I'm very happy you already watched them in another video

Rebecca May

I'm so happy you loved Norrington so much, his death was heartbreaking. There's a lot of hate for him around, either because he's "competition" for Will or because he'd known Elizabeth since she was much younger and that tends to offend modern sensibilities.... But I've always loved his character, so it's nice to see him so appreciated. Thank you!

Diego Zenhäusern

I have to say I also needed more than one watch through to really get how it worked. So you're definitely not alone Veggie🙈

Diego Zenhäusern

Really enjoyed the reaction! And I'd definitely want you to cover 4 and 5...at least on patreon!

STAYoung

There's a fun interpretation of Elizabeth and Will's journey to piratehood with how they mirror their pirate mentors: Barbossa and Sparrow respectively. William became a pirate by the end of the first movie where what a pirate was to him was a crafty, double-crossing, opportunist like Jack. That's why he gambled dice with Jones all for the key's location, was the one to attempt to steal the map from Sao Feng, and when he broke out of the brig decided to "think like Jack". Elizabeth however spent that first movie under the watch of Barbossa, spent the second movie either looking after herself, and for the events of the third movie we can assume she worked under the tutorage of Barbossa. Yes she acted like Jack when she chained him to The Pearl at the end of the second movie but we can see it didn't sit right with her. She came into her own and thrived by emulating the ways of Hector: with a silver tongue when negotiating and talent for rallying the crew but also a willingness to act rather than play politics.

James McCarthy

Woo my favourite one after the first. I love the lore for this one introducing Calypso and the breathen court is awesome and great how they tied it in to Davy Jones' love story and duty as a psycopomp guiding souls to the afterlife. Eastern India Trading company and Beckett are a great villain yet weirdly this is one of the few examples of a franchise having a historical faction that is far less evil in the film then they were in real life.

James McCarthy

My only issue with this film (besdies the missing deleted scenes) is all the Calypso buildup and she just disappears and makes a maelstrom it is quite underwhelming i would have liked something more flashy. Felt like a perfect time to reintroduce the Kraken and let it destroy the army of both sides again, really missed it being in the film and it would have been a nice way for the sea goddess to add a threat and vengence to the scene (Especially against Davy Jones for turning on it)
