I swear... I tried to be brief! XD

Here is part 3 of my Philosopher's Stone Book Review!  We meet a lot of new characters and experience several moments and scenes that were not covered in the book!  We discuss each chapter in detail, and I take your comments, notes and questions at the end (the like 20ish minutes :) )!  Thanks to everyone that added their thoughts to the Harry Potter Book Club post! And don't worry if you didn't get your comment in on time, there is always next time!

Love ya, guys! Next stop, Deathly Hallows Part 2!

P.S: Yes, I accidentally call Neville 'Dudley' a couple of times, sorry XD

Is that the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone game soundtrack I hear? What a powerful choice. Love it 🙏

Garry (Not Jerry)

You dont have to make them super long to appease us…but I’m glad that you do!😁 Edit: pumpkin pasty was here!

Iggy

Please don't try to shorten these videos on our behalf! I could listen to you ramble for hours, as long as you're having fun! :D EDIT: PUMPKIN PASTY!

emmainkeri

Ghosts aren't exclusive to Hogwarts and you don't have stay where you died. A ghost is the actual person that died in a sort of afterlife, unlike people in paintings or photos. Peeves is not a ghost, a poltergeist is more of a non-human magical being. And yeah he's afraid of the Bloody Baron. I never thought the Baron looked like a pirate in the movie! I don't think he's supposed to be one 😂 He lived in the late 10th century (don't look him up). I do wanna point out that the ghostly, shadowy figures of Cedric and Harry's parents weren't ghosts. They were more like echoes. But I don't wanna say too much, you'll find out more eventually, as Harry does :) I never noticed that but I honestly don't think McGonagall is being particularly dismissive of the Hogwarts ghosts. She's strict and just as dismissive with the students. And again, Peeves isn't a ghost, and the way you speak to him won't really change the outcome. If you want him out of the classroom, you'll have to tell him to leave and hope for the best 😂 You'll get to know him better of course. Owls can of course stay with you, but they are nocturnal and prefer to sleep in the owlery during the day (when they're not delivering mail) and hunt at night. The owlery doesn't have windows so the birds are free to come and go as they please.

BeckyB00b

I can’t wait to go to bed and watch this. But I already know that I won’t wish you’d kept it briefer 😅 As others before me have said, I could listen to you passionately talk about Harry Potter for hours!

Lovegood

There’s a reason Quirrel didn’t wear the turban before. I’m not sure if it’s a spoiler at this point because you’ve seen the movie but the book will explain it later on. :) The name Bones is also in the fifth movie btw! It’s a family member of Susan Bones.

Stefania Tepes

Don't worry about the running time! We love to listen to you talk so passionately about something that we all love! <3<3

Loveinthehat

The scene where Harry’s scar hurts when looking at Snape does happen. However it’s not a spoiler because you already know. Both of those times he thinks it’s because of Snape but if you notice professor Quirrel is talking to Snape and the reason his scar is actually burning is because quirrels back of his head is facing him

Fay Evini

Don't bother being brief! It's like listening to a podcast, I really like that it's long. Only thing I'd say is that I usually skip the chapter summary because well... I already know everything that happened, haha, I'm just interested in hearing your opinion.

emmainkeri

Muggle = non-magic, like the Dursleys Muggle-born (mudblood is a slur so let's not use that) = a magical person with muggle parents like Hermione, and Lily Evans (Harry's mom) Squib = the opposite of muggle-born, a child born to magical parents, like Filch Pureblood = only purebloods in the family lineage. The Weasleys, Malfoys, Harry's father's family, the Longbottoms. It means nobody married a muggle or a muggleborn or a half-blood. Half-blood = Everything in between. Most wizards are half-blood, like Harry. If Harry had kids, they would be half-blood, no matter who he'd have them with. Dean Thomas btw has a wizard father and a muggle mom. He's half-blood :)

Lauren

Never apologize for making these too long! I adore the thoughtful discussion, it feeds my soul!! Can’t wait for more ❤️

emmainkeri

I didn't wanna say this even though it's technically not a spoiler! But it is a good bit of foreshadowing, both in the book and the film! :)

Garry (Not Jerry)

On the bloody baron - the reason you thought he was a pirate is probably because he’s waving his sword around! If you listen carefully, one of the students in the movie does yell out “bloody baron” - but it’s only for about 3 seconds so I can imagine it’s not something you would necessarily remember! 😆

Lovegood

Pumpkin pasty was here :)

Diego Zenhäusern

Absolutely agreed! As long as you have stuff you want to talk about you should talk about it! (And if it really starts to be to much for you there's also always the option to cover only 2 or 1 chapter if you feel like it is already enough to fill the episode)

Dara Jeeling

*sends a few hearts* Don't bother with my Nickname Darjeeling is my favorite tea - so my nick is Dara Jeeling. My realy name is very hard for native english speakers - so I do not even bother people with it. Book Snape is different and although I love Alan Rickman ( I mean come on - he was my first ever crush as Sherriff of Nottingham) and his depicition Book Snape was also my favorte character - and I remember whilst reading the book I was so sure he could not be the bad guy. And After book one I despised a lot of his actions/cruelties but he was never the baddy again, for me at least. Maybe I am just a hopeliss case with seeing good in everyone. I also think that what we are is what our live made us - so if someone comes over as such a bitter human being - he/she must have had terible experiences, As said, I also love Mc Gonagall (I also love maggie Smith - but as said reading the books befoe watching the movies hd implenetd a picture of a much younger mC Gonagall in my head - like somewhere in her late40/early 50s - she always was my favorite femal before Luna came around, becaue Luna is so pure...) I hope you keep uo your opinion on book Snape, he's about to be nastier in every book (or I think he is ) up til Deathly Hallows... Thank you for an enjoyable evening even my hubby was listening and decided he needs to reread the book and my youngest son is also a fan (and it helps improve his english) Book club time turns out to be family time and it's eally fun to listen to your thoughts and having soend time readng it before, once again after (hee we go) 24 years... (I mean I read it several times in between) 24 years... a lifetime...

Loveinthehat

Also with your question about pure bloods getting taught magic before school. They don’t really get taught magic, especially because they don’t get wands until before they start first year even if they’re purebloods and especially at that age they can’t control magic without a wand. However obviously they’re more used to seeing magic and experiencing magic since their family members use it all the time. They do do accidental magic, like Harry does like making the glass disappear and growing his hair quickly because at that age they can’t control their magic, and it’s considered a good thing to do accidental magic because it means that they are a witch or wizard, which is why Neville’s family wanted him to display some sort of magic and tried to force it out of him out of fear of being a squib. The reason why a lot of them have rode a broom before hogwarts tho is because it doesn’t count as magic, because it’s the broom doing it and not them. So they can fly brooms no problem as long as they aren’t seen and usually pure blood parents teach how to use brooms. Even after first year when they find out they aren’t allowed to do magic outside of school, riding a broom is still fine. I think McGonagall is just quite short and strict with people in general tbh, she’s very straight to the point regardless, even if she is a nice person. Peeves as well is someone you’d be short with, it’s not like he minds his business. His whole purpose is to disturb people and annoy them in every way which is something mcgonagall doesn’t tolerate so it’s not surprising she’ll tell him to leave like that. Yeah I think Snape in the movies is more likeable? Snape in general is interesting. The way the movie version is played as more very serious and strict and quite straight faced. Whereas book Snape seems to almost enjoy bullying students, he’s not as strict face he usually has some sort of twisted smile. It’s very interesting. Also I do love like you said how dumbledore is more playful in the books, he does seem to not take stuff as seriously so even tho you know he’s powerful it’s easy to see why some people think he’s quite odd. Even when they were doing the hogwarts song he was encouraging Fred and George doing the over dramatic funeral march and ‘conducting’ them with his wand even tho all the other students finished singing. And giving them knowing looks because he knows how they get into mischief a lot. It’s just little things that add to how he comes off

Melina W

i think peeves doesn't necessarily help them run away, he just does whatever would be the most annoying thing. and the most annoying in this case was to first alert filch but then not actually tell him where they went. in that sense he's kind of a neutral character, not really on anyone's side just equally mean to everyone xD and i absolutely agree that a great character doesn't have to be a good person! they just have to be interesting which is why i also really love snape, both in the movies and the books! also i'm really enjoying these book club videos and i think reading comments at the end of it is a great addition, it's the closest thing we get to having a conversation and i really like seeing what other viewers have to say as well!

Diego Zenhäusern

Another great video :)! Don't worry about the length of the videos I prefere a long video were you get to say everything you want and don't have to rush through things/ not mention notes because you feel like it's taking to long! I also think that the comment idea was really cool and I liked that you showed them in the viedo so we could see them as well 🙂 Also: Pumpkin pastry was here! xD

emmainkeri

I appreciate your thoughts on Harry and his insecurities, and Malfoy getting to his head a bit. Harry's had an awful life and a traumatic childhood, but the way he handles most situations is pretty admirable to be honest. But he is very human still, and he has insecurities. Being an outsider and new to the wizarding world is one. Harry's internal monologue is of course a huge part of the books and you don't really get to experience it in the movies at all (everything's left to interpretation), so I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on all that stuff. Never give up the pumpkin pasty joke, please 🙏😂

emmainkeri

Now I really wish you could play the original Philosopher's Stone game on PC! It's a game I miss the most. Surprisingly true to the book, too.

Melina W

regarding the teaching experience, i don't think there's a university or anything like that for wizards so there really is no option but to hire people who haven't taught before. and i think it's actually quite realistic how bad some of the teachers are.. i've had teachers who made students fall sleep or teachers who scared students.. but other teachers like mcgonagall, flitwick and sprout seem to be doing their job just fine obviously it would be better if all teachers were good, but it is quite realistic like this 😅

PaulaC

If it helps, the ghosts at Hogwarts are transparent and can’t affect their environment. Peeves is a poltergeist, which can considered a type of ghost, but he is perfectly capable of affecting his environment and causing tons of chaos. He also appears to be solid rather than transparent.

Loveinthehat

Oh if you think I should delete it I will, it’s good foreshadowing but I thought I’d say because it isn’t really explained why it happens in the books either we just know when we read or watch it again afterwards

PaulaC

People always mention how Snape asked questions Harry couldn’t have possibly known, but Hermione knew the answers and found out she was magical about the same time Harry did, and got her books at the same time a few weeks before school started. Hermione is way more determined than Harry, though. She’s a girl and a muggle-born witch, and wants so much to prove herself. In both the book and the movie, she says a line about how getting expelled would be worse than being killed. That’s a bit extreme, but for her it’s true (at the point in the story). Her goal is to learn everything, be a good student, and earn points for her class. Harry and care much less about those things but I think this was a brilliant way to set up Hermione’s character that will almost completely change by the end of the book. By the end, she realizes friendship and bravery are more important than books and cleverness (remember she said that in the movie?)

emmainkeri

No no I'm sure it's fine, he'll probably be glad you pointed that out 😇

emmainkeri

I know this is a small thing but I don't want things to get confusing for Veggie. So, it's not only purebloods, I think the better term would be wizarding families. Riding brooms or doing magic as a child isn't a pureblood thing, it's just about being in a family where you're free to express your magic. And preferably living in an area muggles can't see you flying around on brooms 😂

Keira Newren

Pumpkin Pasty was here! 😄

PaulaC

Last comment from me, I promise! But so many people watch the movies and make tons of comments about how dangerous the school is. But we have now seen or heard of several instances (several from Neville, a few from Harry, etc) where they have what should be horrific accidents or even death but they just bounce or break a wrist. It seems like magical people are less prone to serious injury. That might very well be why Hagrid was so angry when he found out the Dursleys told Harry that his parents died in a car crash. They might have been injured, but clearly death would not have happened.

Thunderbird

The thing about having classes with other houses you got partly right. They actually have every class with the first years from another house, so always two houses go to the same class together. Gryffindor only has potions and flying lessons with Slytherin, which means that Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff go to those classes together. But herbology for example the Gryffindors have together with the Hufflepuffs (if I remember it correctly).

Shannon Elizabeth

Love love love Peeves! Really wish he had made it into the movies. Peeves is not a ghost tho he is a poltergeist which, if I remember my mythology correctly, is a magical creature that is a physical manifestation of strong emotions. So you have a school full of children and teenagers whose emotions or constantly going up and down and sideways it makes sense that a poltergeist would manifest at Hogwarts lol. So he’s I definitely wish he had made it into the movies along with the sorting hat poem. One thing to check out, I believe there was a deleted scene in Goblet of Fire where the Hogwarts students sing the school song when they meet the other schools for the triwizard tournament. Really enjoyed this episode of Harry Potter Book Club, can’t wait for the next one 💛🦡💛

jensson

Dean Thomas was raised by a muggle mother who didn't know his father was a wizard. So Dean grew up thinking he was muggle born. Seamus on the other hand had a witch mom and muggle dad.

itsanursething

Ok. I'll do it. Pumpkin Pastie here. Yes, I watched all the way through. Only a few notes this time...I hope :) The "pirate" ghost you saw in the first movie during the feast is the Bloody Baron. If you listen carefully, you can hear a student mention him. The books are wonderful because they give you such deeper picture of who each character is. Like Hermione and McGonagall. And Snape...he's, as you said, interesting. I never liked him, but I was intrigued by him. And I absolutely love Alan Rickman! Except he's too old. Peeves! I missed Peeves in the movies! And he's all over the books. The main reason McGonagall is so mean to Peeves is because he's a nuisance, and (pardon my language) kind of an asshole. He only really likes 2 people in the whole school (can you guess who??) and especially loves tormenting Filch. But he is a fascinating character too. Once again, love these book commentaries. Thank you for sharing :)

Charlotte R.

Warning for long comment! I try answering some of your questions. And pumpkin pasty was there! I love this reaction, thanks so much for taking the time to do them! I love the small recap before your thoughts on the chapter, it helps situate where you are. Regarding the ghosts, I think you have to have unfinished business or something. I don’t know if the ghosts at Hogwarts have to die on the grounds to be there, but I don’t think so. For Cedric, Lily and James appearing in the fourth book, it will be explain. But they were not ghosts. They were kind of echos. Regarding learning spells before going to Hogwarts, I don’t think they do. Or maybe like Hermione, learn the theory of it. But they all get their wands just before going to school and there is a law that prevents kids/teens under 17 to perform magic outside of school (remember Harry being expelled in Order of the Phoenix for performing a Patronus charm?). Of course, accidental magic all kids do is permitted, but not elaborate spells. Brooms are different because it’s not a spell, it’s using a spelled object. I love how you’re appreciating every little bits you learn about the characters. You’re going to be served in this saga! There is so much details in these books, especially in the later ones, as they get longer and longer. Also, JK Rowling loves dropping names and references that won’t come up until later, which makes the books great re-reads. Like Sirius being mentioned on the first chapter and not spoke about until book 3. Same with Grindelwalt. The portrayal of Hermione is quite different from the movies. There is a lot of reasons for that. One of the biggest one (in my opinion) is Ron being used as the comic relief (especially starting second movie) so a lot of Ron’s lines have been stole by Hermione. Lines that shows bravery or intelligence. Hermione’s character was also use for exposition. In the movies, she’s the one who explain how the magical world works because « you just assume she read it in a book » (actual quote from the producer). Whereas in the books, Ron is usually the one you explain stuff about the magical world. One of the best exemple of that is the scene in Hagrid’s hut, after Draco calls Hermione a mudblood (chamber of secrets). In the movie, she explains to the audience what it means while Ron is just vomiting and being ridiculous. In the books, both Harry and Hermione are clueless and it’s Ron who explains it. It’s small things, but they add up with 8 movies and alter the way we interpret the characters. I love both Hermione and Ron, but I’m a bit disappointed that Ron has being reduced to “stupid sidekick” and Hermione is kind of perfect with very little flaws. Keep those reactions coming! I’m going to re-read the books along side you. Cheers from France

Charlotte R.

Thanks for saying that! I hate when people apply "muggle" logic on things like that. Pumfresh being able to re-grow a bone in one night should tell people how differently wizards and muggles interpret all thing 'dangerous'.

Elizabeth Mann

Pumpkin pasty was here. :) So glad you're enjoying the books. Watching your reactions has helped breathe some new life into the series for me.

Annette Elliott

Personally, I think the only character who is portrayed in the movies most accurately to the books is Hagrid. Ron is really relegated to a stupid comedic sidekick. Harry is portrayed as less intelligent than he is in the books. Hermione is turned into Miss Perfect without the flaws she has in the books. Snape is nowhere near as mean in the movies even when he's shown as the thing Neville is most afraid of. Ginny's personality is non-existent.

Hazelle

I never thought McGonagall was anymore strict dealing with the ghosts and Peeves than she was with anyone else. That being said, personally, I wouldn’t blame her if she was. It would have to be exhausting. They choose not to leave, they are constantly getting into things, interrupting things, distracting the students, having their own drama, and many of them are incredibly annoying. I don’t know that I’d have the patience to listen to some of them whine for 35 years about the same things constantly (Nick and the headless hunt, 1,000 yr. old relationship drama I’m not sure you’ve encountered yet, etc.) or for their over the top dramatics (Peeves, Moaning Myrtle, etc.). Then you also have Mr. Filch complaining non-stop about Peeves. It’s like a daytime soap opera and Minerva has sh*% to do. They definitely add to the story and I love reading their characters and storylines but to have to deal with them day in and day out… well, I’m sure Minerva has thought on occasion that it’s a shame you can’t kill someone twice. Somewhat related: When I picture them in my head, Peeves and Puck have the same face.

Katie

Hermione's birthday is the 19th September so she would have actually got her letter the year before and had nearly a whole year to prepare for Hogwarts and read up on as much as possible. I think Snape knew Harry had no chance of reading all his books beforehand and therefore wouldn't know the answers. He just wanted to humiliate Harry in front of everyone. I agree that Hermione is extremely determined and wants to prove herself because she's muggle-born. I doubt many students who had a head start like her would have read up on as much as she did.

PaulaC

I have read the books so many times, and I don’t think children get their letters based on their birthday. They get it a few weeks before school starts.

Caroline

funny. I am so annoyed with Harry in the books. A lot of the chaos is due to Harry making unreasonable rash decisions. He is extremely emotional and almost never thinks logically. Although Hermione keeps telling him not to do something. In the movie, I can still block this out and concentrate on nice things, but the books are written from Harry's point of view and you have to constantly participate in his thoughts. I love the books more than anything but Harry's character comes even after Filch so annoying I find him. Nearly never thought of him as intelligent. 😅

Katie

Oh ok I think you're right. That's interesting that I always thought you don't receive your letter until your 11th birthday but the more I think about it that doesn't really make logical sense. I always thought Harry was just an exception because of his importance. I do remember reading something on Pottermore about it being their 11th birthday but maybe that's an inconsistency. Everyone receiving their letter in the summer and having to all reply no later than 31st July makes way more sense. This gives Hermione plenty of time to read her books still.

Hazelle

Also, YouTube took me down a rabbit hole last week where I ended up discovering Judge Rinder and now that the thought has popped into my head, I can’t stop seeing Professor McGonagall saying, “Speaking!” as Peeves and Filch talk over each other as they sue one another in her courtroom. That’s the level of ridiculousness I think it would be like to deal with those two. 🤣

emmainkeri

Yes you're totally right! I mixed them up when I was typing. It's the other way around like you said :)

Jacob sparks

1st year students can be on the team but they not allowed there own brooms, therefore making it almost impossible for them to make the team as the school brooms are bad.

Jannys

Pumpkin pasty was here 😂 . I took several quizzes and all of them put me in Ravenclaw, that really surprised me, because I didn't think I'm that smart, but the fact that I'm Ravenclaw actually made me study more and pulled me through school more easily. I think you can leave the comment section in the reaction videos, the length of the videos isn't that important, at least to me anyway.

PaulaC

This is the result of the author using Harry as the audience surrogate in the books. She tells us Harry is intelligent and makes good grades, but he asks the most boneheaded questions. Because he’s the audience surrogate. Someone who has to ask questions that we as readers need to know the answers to. It makes him look stupid.

PaulaC

I think Pottermore says you have to be 11 to get your letter, but that doesn’t come until the summer before school starts. So everyone who turned 11 after the end of August would get their letter the next summer.

PaulaC

Lol Pumfresh

Katie

There's a story on Pottermore about Professor McGonagall and how she received her Hogwarts letter on her 11th birthday. That's probably where I got that idea from. Hermione is nearly a year older than Harry then. If you have to wait until you're already 11 then receive your letter in the summer before term starts and Hermione's birthday is 19th September then she's nearly a year older than him. Either way, my original point was that Snape definitely knew Harry wouldn't know any of the answers. Hermione is just an exception and will have read up on as much as possible before school started

GOTnissa

this was one of those scenes that made watching the movies a second time so good!

GOTnissa

There's a certain subject in the Goblet Of Fire book that they completely leave out of the movie. One of our main characters passionately advocates for a cause and I cannot wait to hear your reaction to it!

Hilde

🎃🙋🏼‍♀️

NoProfileName

Yes please don't apologize for the long videos there's nothing wrong with more. I mean I am here for the FULL LEANTH reactions lol. So give me everything. Keep up the good work!

NoProfileName

There so much left out in Goblet!! Cant wait for him to get to more.

GOTnissa

Pumpkin Pasty was here.. and would stick around for more - dont rush yourself!

Hilde

I think Harry is an awesome character 💙 And pretty realistically portrayed, flaws and all.

Hilde

I’m not sure if he’s seen the last movie yet??

Hilde

Actually I don’t think he has, so perhaps you should take this down or edit it 🤭 (I may be wrong though!)

Kat

I would assume not ☺️

Kat

Pumpkin pasty was here! Just to explain - the bezoar in HBP reference you didn’t understand. Harry used a bezoar to save Ron’s life when he is poisoned. Another little Easter egg for you. The Hogwarts School song from the Sorting Hat chapter features in a deleted scene, here is the link if you want to see! https://youtu.be/7I6cJnQQsWc Thank you for answering my question 😃

Garry (Not Jerry)

I believe nearly headless nick does affect his environment in the second book by breaking something and making a loud noise in order to distract Filch

Garry (Not Jerry)

I wouldn’t read too much into the remembrall thing. I don’t think we are supposed to know - nor is it important - what Neville has forgotten. It’s just a fun magical item and neatly introduces to us that Neville’s character is very forgetful - something that will become an important plot point for later books. In the movies - the thing about him forgetting his cloak is a nice theory - but again, It’s not meant to be important what he has forgotten, just that he is forgetful (and it’s kind of funny that he can’t remember what he has forgotten) The “pay-off” for the remembrall is Harry catching it and him become seeker as a result.

PaulaC

Funnily enough, Nick actually convinced Peeves to throw the vanishing cabinet to distract Filch!

Garry (Not Jerry)

The Harry Potter Games is something I am really keen to get into. Especially the early ones. I never had them as a kid but I wanted them, so it would be cool to try them now.

Giorgia M

I always assumed it was the password he had forgotten and that’s why he ends up locked out later on? But yeah, you are very right!! I think it’s just a plot device used to show Harry’s ability on a broom.

emmainkeri

Yeah I always thought the cloak theory was weird. He could've just taken it off, it's not like a rule you would be punished for breaking or anything, wearing the cloak I mean 😂

emmainkeri

No, it's both. The school has brooms you can use, after all.

emmainkeri

Hermione was born in September the year before Harry. Later in the books she and Ron get to take part in the apparition test, but Harry doesn't because he hasn't turned 17 yet. He's the youngest of the three.

Jacob sparks

That's basically what I said

Methanoutput

Pumpkin Pasty was here and i love the long videos! :D

Annah SilverThread

"Pumpkin Pasty was here!" I prefer the longer vids. There seems to be more, solid, connection from streamer to watcher. Loved seeing the recaps and thoughts on the chapters, as well as the reactions to other's comments. Looks like it also helps with understanding, or catching something that was missed. Can't wait to see how the rest of this book will go. And all the others as well. You are my very first Patreon and I have to say that it is well worth being here. <3 love your videos, your outlook on everything, simply puts a smile on my face while watching anything you do.

Louisa Lockley

Pumpkin pasty was here I could listen to you all day 😊

Paula

Pumpkin pasty was here as well! :D I actually signed up for Patreon for these book reviews. I was feeling a bit down in the dumps and thought listening to these might cheer me up. And they did! I, too, enjoy the longer videos. It is fascinating seeing someone read these books as an adult. I even wrote my BA Thesis on Harry Potter, which says enough, I think. (And how much there is to analyse for an adult as well.)

Loeckiesbue

Pumpkin pasty was here 😃 greetings from Germany

Rm29

Really enjoying these book reviews, it's been years since I last read the books and its nice experiencing them again through someone else's thoughts.

Vee

Pumpkin pasty was here , love the detail and your reactions. You are doing a fantastic job!

Tracey

Pumpkin pasty was here. Also I'm listening to the audio books narrated by Stephen Fry along with your reviews. I'm really enjoying it. I love your reviews.

Matthew Whelan

the difference in this universe between a poltergeist and a ghost is that poltergeists can interact with physical objects, so Peeves could throw something at a student, but a ghost couldn't pick up that same object in order to throw it. Hence, Peeves isn't a "real" ghost

Ken Hampton

Poltergeists are manifestations of chaotic energy (such as can be found in a school full of adolescent kits). Ghosts are the lingering spirits of the dead.

Ian Graham

The Midnight Duel is one of my favourite chapters from this book. And I'm kind of gutted it was cut from the film.
