Definitely one of the best movies ever made. I often switch back and forth on whether this or ROTS is my favorite.

Randee Carreno

This is one of the ones that I've been looking forward to since you started the 1-6 movie re-watch. This movie is my top favorite of the "Star Wars" movies, and in my top three all-time favorite movie sequels. Fun Fact #1: Mark Hamill was in a car accident before filming had started. And the Wampa attack at the beginning of the movie was written in to explain the scars on his face. As a fan of the original 1980 version of this movie, I think this one has the least amount of changes when it was re-released in the 90s. The most notable ones are seeing more of the Wampa, Ian McDiarmid replaced the original actress(yes, I meant to say actress. An actress played the Emperor in the original version of this movie)in the scene with Vader and Palpatine, and Temuera Morrison's(Jango Fett/Adult Boba)voice replaced the original actor's voice for Boba Fett. And we're introduced to two of my favorite characters: Lando Calrissian and Yoda. Love Billy Dee Williams as Lando. And Yoda is the freaking best! Fun Fact #2: Han's "I know" line was improvised by Harrison Ford during the carbonite scene. He's original line was supposed to have been "I love you too". But Harrison Ford thought it wasn't a Han Solo thing to say. So he changed it. And Han and Leia's "I love you" "I know" exchange became one of the most memorable moments. And then there's the big Vader reveal that he's Luke's father. Or "Dad Vader" as Mark Hamill would call him. LOL! When promoting "The Last Jedi" Mark told the best story on the Graham Norton Show(I highly recommend you checking out that interview. It's on YouTube)about how he found out that twist, and about having to keep it a secret until the premiere.

Fun facts Mark actually got into a motorcycle accident before this movie so the scars he got from the wompa (yeti) was mostly real. Tontons are actually furry lizards. The one Han was riding had been running for a while and the blood inside it started to freeze from exhaustion. The line Han said "I'll see you in hell" is a real thing in star wars. In fact Vader had tried to go there to bring back Padme. He failed obviously but it really is putting the phrase to hell and back into perspective. Chewy is a forest being so I don't think he'd have the fur for snow. If we line up Yoda teaching Obi how to commune with Qui gon it lines up that Yoda did instruct him on some things as well as his Padawan/youngling days. Rouge 2 may be a reference to Rouge 1 that was later adapted. The bacta tank Luke was in was once going to be red liquid at one point. Bacta is from the republic commando game. Leia wasn't going to be Luke's sister until later. Imperial probes can scan for life and structures but can't identify people. That's up to the people monitoring the probe. Vader does not need to use his hands to choke a failing soldier or to attack a young Luke. The walker scene was done with stop motion, miniatures, explosives and cut outs. There were 6 walkers. Wedge lives all the way after episode 6 and is one of Luke's top fighter pilots. The small walker was a ATDP like in rebels a smaller version of the ATST that fits two people. Snow troopers are my favorite because of the internal heating system in thier packs. Just like the cooling system in desert patrol troopers. The millennium falcon actually had another escape pod in the front at one point when it was still Lando's. George based the design to be like a hamburger so it wouldn't copy other programs at the time like classic doctor who and others. Vader's helmet has always been a three part assemble. There are a few animals from our world that make it into the movies and shows like snakes, lizards, and rats for example. Degoba being so strong with the force is one reason why no one was able to find Yoda. One day I hope they dive into why Luke found the place so familiar. The original viewing of Palpatine in that hologram in the 80's was VEEEEEEERY different after they edited it. Yoda's home was actually his old ship he worked into a home. Yup that was Bossk. It's kinda sad when people call Luke or Anakin a Mary Sue when they struggle so much. Boba has had a family by this point but well messy things happened and he went back to bounty hunting. Vader was actually in that room 3po got shot in. There ARE people from Alderaan that were off world. I mean look at Cara Dune. Think of it like what happened to Zeb and his people. They had to relocate to another planet.

Answering your questions: they used stop motion with models for the intro shots running across the snow. Yes that was Bossk. The popular theory surrounding Yoda and Obi "not recognising R2" is that they were pretending for Luke's sake, but it'd definitely also a product of the time the movies were made. Yoda was on Dagobah for around 21-24 years or so.

If you notice when Luke says stay with the ship it's the same thing Anakin said. After that R2 never stays with the ship again.

Culper (Lukas)

Bruh... It is 6 am and I'm tryna watch the movie, not cry. Lmao. That is so sad. Tragic, even.

Culper (Lukas)

Ayeee, we got another one. I watch full length on one monitor and the movie itself on another one while working. I let it just play in the background, so thanks Prime for filling the first 2 hours of my work day, lmao. It makes me happy, man.

Culper (Lukas)

As a reminder, we saw Yoda take R2 to Dagobah in Clone Wars. This isn't the first time R2 has been here... Perhaps that isn't why he wants to go and he warns Luke.

Chase Izidoro

General Veers, the Imperial General who leads the ground assault on Hoth and approaches Vader in his chamber before the attack, is the same actor who plays grand maester pycelle in Game of Thrones. He’s just about 30 years younger here. You’d never notice unless you were told, but once you find out, you can see him 100%, voice and all

Simply amazing. ROTS is 1 for me and I'm always back and forth on this and ROTJ as my number 2, mainly bc the first 30 min of ROTJ is one of the greatest things I've ever seen. You are right that the big reveal was one of the greatest moments in cinema history. The 2 big reveals they weren't sure if they were gonna go with innthe first movie was this and Leah being his sis. I was gonna breakdown some stuff about the light saber battle in this but the dude in this video explains it far better than I can and has basically the same view points on it as me. I highly recommend checking this out in your free time. It's only 8 min. https://youtu.be/MALVhzMcJ1k
