Watching this episode felt so nostalgic. Felt like I was watching a great clone wars episode.

A lot of people took Rampart’s remarks of “clones disappearing” to mean he killed Cody or at least took him prisoner, but he said Cody went AWOL, so when he said clones around him keep disappearing, I think he was more referring to the Bad Batch going rogue. I doubt they would kill Cody off screen. I also think the inhibitor chips are definitely starting to wear off. In S1 Ep1 clones were cheering when Palpatine announced the formation of the Empire, but now we’re seeing clones like Howzer, Wilco, and now Cody.

They didn’t kill Cody. They literally said he went AWOL, meaning he left. Rampart wasn’t rubbing it in his face. He was pointing out that clones that Crosshair serves with continue to go rogue (the Bad Batch, Cody).

Considering Rampart remarked about Cody disappearing in the same breath with the Bad Batch, whom he now knows survived and is on the loose, I think it's likely Cody actually *did* go AWOL and wasn't "disappeared" in the same manner as Wilco. I took Rampart's comment to Crosshair about it being odd how the clones around him kept disappearing to imply he suspects there's something going on and that Crosshair is involved. It didn't really hit me until I was writing this, but Rampart must know, now, that Crosshair let the rest of the Batch escape. Rampart assumed they were dead, which means Crosshair must have given a false report, after he was eventually rescued (and probably not be the Empire), about what transpired on Kamino. I have a feeling the Admiral is doubting the clone's declarations of loyalty... besides, I would find it hard for an Imperial officer like Rampart to comprehend Crosshair's level of selflessness in the name of the Empire. And you can see the isolation is getting to Crosshair. During the war, he at least had his brothers in the Batch... now, he's got nobody. All he has is his dedication to duty, you can even see him actually *smile* when he hears there's another mission for him. But being a clone doesn't change the fact that he's still human... and isolation, however it arises, is torture.

Cody isn’t dead, he went rogue. Also, I don’t think Cody was trying to be manipulative or trick the governor. I think he was being genuine about finding a peaceful resolution.

This episode, and the season so far, seems to have a clear focus and more deliberately serious tone. We’re going to see how messed up the empire is, and how clones, and anyone with a conscience, isn’t gonna fit. We are getting some more adult dialogue, slower beats, while keeping spectacular action and animation. Feels closer to that Mandalorian episode with Bill Burr, with NO BABY YODA, and no fancy cameo, just two characters taking stock of where the they placed in the galaxy. Lightsabers and cute creatures are fun, and we all love a callback, but….this is what Star Wars needs. Since you’re watching BOBF at the same time, the quality of show-making might be even more evident and I’d love to hear what you think of it.

Hunter to Crosshair last season: "All you'll ever be to them is a number"

It's sad to think that Cody doesn't even know about the inhibitor chips and he thinks obi wan is gone because of his actions. Just imagine how bad he feels

I believe that Cody asked for Crosshair for this mission to suss out Crosshair and where he stands with the empire. I reckon Cody has been wanting to leave for a while now but was hoping he could find other clone troopers who are feeling the same way. That's probably why he's gone AWOL and will find a way out of the empire

I think Cody actually went AWOL too. As for the clones cheering on Kamino, I would also argue that those were extremely young clones aka shinies. Like ones that only recently completed their training. Most of the more experienced ones would've been stationed across the Galaxy and/or Coruscant. At least that's how I believe the GAR works.

It almost seems like Cody asked for Crosshair specifically for the mission because Cody was already thinking about going awol and he wanted to see where Crosshair’s head was at. After he saw what Crosshair did and how he acted on the mission, Cody realized that he was going to have to leave on his own. Would love to see Cody and Rex team up.
