Hello!Let me introduce you to the character coming up for the first 2025 roleplay: Mrs Gildie, Edwardian picture framer 🖼️ Although there's nothing special about this character, it's another opportunity for me to learn a lot about a fairly unknown craft, the art of framing and gilding, as well as building an interesting set. But this time, you won't be the customer... As I said, lots of unusual personal attention ahead 😁

At the moment, I'm practising various aspects of the skills required for this wonderful profession (but I'm not trying to be “good”, just convincing enough for the video!), and I'm really enjoying it.The costume - made after an actual early 20th century suit by "Gibson Girl Dress" - is mainly made of wool, and I really like its simple but very elegant shape, which I'll enhance with a brooch on the collar. Unfortunately, there was an error in the measurements of the skirt, so I'm waiting for another skirt to arrive in time... Fingers crossed! This roleplay, which will combine the vibes of both "You're my canvas" and "The hair parlour" will be filmed next month for release at the end of February. In the meantime, a cosy hair session with my sister will be released in a few days, with an early access on Patreon. Stay tuned! 😀

Looks comfy! I almost thought it was a bathrobe

Maistra13

Wow, that costume is gorgeous! It really does look cozy for everyday wear too, much more than Victorian dress 😄

Angi

I’m looking forward to all your videos this year.

Ro Schum

This sounds brilliant! Can’t wait ❤️

Can't wait for both videos 🤩🤩🤩

Diane, your photos remind me of the essence of my grandmother from the same time period. I cannot add a photo so I have changed my profile picture to one from my grandmother in 1910. Very much looking forward to seeing your upcoming work!

How exciting! I used to do custom framing and it was one of my favorite jobs I ever had. Lots of cool processes. It'll be really neat to see your vintage take on it! And the costume looks so beautiful!

Lilyanne

That sounds super exciting!! Also, I adore your hair in these pictures, it looks amazing!

Myrin

Ooooh, are we going to get framed (in a picture, not for a crime!)? How exciting, I'm very much looking forward to that! And what a beautiful collar, thank you so much for the close-up on the lace, what intricate work!

Maylis

Superbe !

Margarita Robski

Diane, you are genius. So creative. Can’t wait.

Diane I love the costume! The color is gorgeous and that lace insert is just stunning! I know the brooch is just gonna make it over the top. And your hair in these pictures is just so beautiful!! Definitely going to love this character and I cannot wait to learn more about gilding! I’m also looking forward to the video with you and your sister, which is always a wonderful insight into your family and life! Thank you again for all that you do!

Thank you for sharing! It's a beautiful photo indeed, and I can't help but admire the skills of the women of the time when it comes to these impeccable hairstyles!

I worked in a craft store that did custom framing. It was always so cool seeing the pieces people would bring in to be framed.

I love this style! I’m looking forward to learning from the new video. When I was little, I found a Gibson Girl Barbie doll at a secondhand store…she was so much more elegant to me, she was the main character in all Barbie play after that. 😁

Hi Diane. Gilding as in with gold leaf? That's a tricky thing to learn! For a while I was too stressed over the world situation to relax for ASMR. When you did the lavender video though, with just sounds where I could shut my mind off and just listen, I started again. The world isn't any better, in fact it's worse, but it's better to un-fray the nerves occasionally. Thank you.

I didn't know there was a Gibson Barbie! I've just checked and it looks like it came out in 1993? I was still playing with dolls at the time, so I guess it never came out in France as I don't remember seeing it ^^ It's a funny Barbie, although the hair and make-up are outrageous for 1910. 😂

moonlightcottageASMR

Yes, gold leaf, I'm practising now (with fake leaves for now) and I'm finding it less tricky than I thought, and actually a lot of fun to do! Have you ever tried it? It's the kind of DIY that makes me totally ‘unplug my brain’, even if, yes, it doesn't make the world any better. Let's try to do our best from where we are 💚

Lüst

Well i don't know anything about that art so looking forward to be framed :)

Fran

That's good advice. Thanks:) Oh, and I wanted to comment long ago on your science fiction video. I looked at it partially through my science fiction/fantasy magazine editor's eyes. It had all the story elements -- character, setting, plot, and a really nice resolution. The part shot outdoors had a particularly distinctive color and atmosphere to it. I hope to see more of those sometime -- perhaps a follow-up visit to the planet or an adventure with the same crew on another planet?

Ewan Neff

I had to Google to see—wow, is she different than what my child’s eyes and memory made of her! 😁 My dad has been threatening to get my dolls down from the attic for my daughter, so it’ll be interesting to see her if she is in there!
