Hello there,

Here’s the new roleplay! I hope you’ll enjoy it. I recently bought a new camera & lens and the quality looks way better, especially regarding the colors, contrast and autofocus (I’ve used autofocus for the first time in my life). This new camera was used for the whole video, except for the final intro shot that I couldn’t film with it, since it’s too heavy for my gimbal (I’ll have to upgrade this as well). We can clearly see the difference 😅

This is a version without any ad, and there are a couple of things & continuity errors I still have to fix for the final version. Any improvement suggestion will be welcome of course :)

If you’ve watched the "intro prep" video I posted a few weeks ago, you might notice many changes: some shots couldn’t be filmed for different reasons, especially on that cute stone bridge, because the light wasn’t good.

Now I need your opinion: I’ve recently read a few comments about my intros, saying that the music or some sounds were too loud, at least louder than what I used to do. I thought I was setting the music volume lower with time, but maybe not?I’ve also noticed in my analytics that most viewers simply skip the intro, which is perfectly understandable if they want to go straight to the triggers.Since this particular video starts with an unusual shot, I think I will also provide a no-intro version if some people wants to play it on repeat. Anyway I’d be very glad to know your thoughts about them generally speaking! (But making intros is a huge part of the fun for me so I don’t think I’ll stop making them 😊 )

Have a wonderful day!

Ohh this is so exciting! I'll watch it right now!! I loved the hair parlour videos. They might be my favourite, to be honest! I don't think I am good at giving feedback because I always find everything just perfect. I also think that sometimes it is a matter of preference. I LOVE your intros and they are actually my favourite part. They are so cinematic and they allow me to get immersed in the video as if I was watching a movie or even living my own story. So I really hope you never stop making them!

Darren G

Looks amazing!! 🙌

Rhiannon Hutchinson

Greetings, Diane: I've watched all your latest videos and have not noticed any issues with music or sounds being too loud. My guess is the complaints are from people who use headphones to listen, maybe as they're trying to drop off to sleep, which probably makes them ultra-sensitive (and should tell them to crank the volume down!). I use my PC and speakers, though, and have zero problems. As for the intros...they are honestly my favorite part because they are often sooooo soothing. They're little movie shorts that shift me from my reality to the reality you are creating. And when I'm short of time, I often watch ONLY the intros of the Apothecary and the Steam Punk Optometrist for a quick moment of relaxation. I think most other ASMR artists focus on just make trigger videos, which is ENTIRELY different from telling a meaningful, plotted, cinematic story. So I say, let viewers who just want triggers skip the intros if they like. No biggie if they do -- it's their choice. But please keep telling stories the way YOU want to tell them, and those of us who love your intros will continue to enjoy them immensely. Be well, and many thanks for sharing your talents with us. :)

Lyra Cupala

I always watch the intros on the first watch because the cinematography is so beautiful and they are like art—but I do admit that I sometimes skip them if I’m watching to fall asleep. I can’t wait to watch this!💗✨

Tonya Beth

I use headphones always and have never had any issue with the volume of your posts. I typically watch the intro portions many, many times as these are my favorite. I love the music in the backgrounds! I know some other cinematic creators I follow typically post a music free version. It’s not for me but maybe an option for those who don’t enjoy?

TeaNTea

I likewise think that the intros are an important part of what makes your videos stand out, and they're not long enough for me to feel a need to skip them, even if I'm falling asleep to the video. But introless videos as an option might be good for viewers who don't prefer the intros.

Indoora World 🍂 The Cottage Library

Oh my, I could watch this intro a hundred times! I wanted to teleport there!! Absolutely brilliant! I was amazed at how good the window reflection was. This is really what makes you stand out, you're a storyteller! I loved the rest of the video as well and I know I am going to watch it several times! By the way, the shampooing section was sooo relaxing!

Katia

People skip intros? 😱😱😱 I LOVE your intros! I would even wish for a video compilation of all your intros and nothing else! But then again, I don’t get the tingles att all, never, so that is not the reason I watch ASMR. (I do find ASMR videos very calming and relaxing and they have helped with my anxiety issues after burnout.)

Mariah Huehner

I love the intro's since what you're doing is both storytelling and ASMR so you're leading us in. Maybe people are skipping it on repeat viewings? Your intro's aren't very long and to me they up the "cozy" part so that the ASMR is more effective.

Paul Ransley

Great roleplay. Volumes always good for me. I love the intros, so very scene / mood setting.

Ro Schum

Also great fan of your intros!

Felicia

I'm also here in support of your intros! I have noticed that some seem to be a bit louder than the actual video, the Steampunk Cranial Nerve Exam is the first one that comes to mind, but it's not bothersome. Your intros are so beautiful and cinematic it feels purposeful and they "set the stage" so to speak for the video perfectly. I always get so excited to be transported into a new world. I should mention too that the intro/outro of the cranial nerve exam video are my favorite parts!

Simply Rachael Studios

I haven’t even watched the new video yet, but I had to comment and let you know that your intros are one of the most magical and captivating parts of all your videos! My boyfriend’s tv auto skips intros and whenever it does that for your videos, I have to fight it to rewind and play the intro lol The intros showcase all of the hard work you put into your set dressings. They are always so carefully choreographed and it is obvious you enjoy the process. You keep doing you and we shall continue to love every minute of it! ❤️❤️❤️

Kyra Berger

I really like the intros. Especially the ones associated with the hair parlor. I really like the storytelling in it ❤️

Morganna

The intros are very beautiful, but indeed sometimes a bit louder (the cranial exam indeed) and I do admit to skipping them sometimes, especially when listening to them on Tidal to fall asleep. Not when watching on YouTube generally. In general, if the contrast between various sections is to big, it doesn't really work for me when falling asleep. As either some portions are too loud or others are inaudible. (It occasionally happened with a section later in the videos as well.) Looking forward to watching the new video soon.

moonlightcottageASMR

Thanks Rhiannon! I always use headphones as well, but I believe the way we perceive the different sounds/music can depend a lot on the quality of the headphones... So it can never be perfect for everyone. Be well as well 😊

moonlightcottageASMR

Yes the cranial nerve exam seems to stand out as a "too loud" intro... And if I had to do this again, I would probably lower the music volume! I admit it was probably too "epic" for a relaxation video 😄 Thanks for your feedback!

Sarah

I love your intros! Maybe you can just offer a timestamp/chapter so people can skip it, without you having to publish two videos? About noise levels (and this is just my personal experience of course), I use headphones and listen/watch your videos to relax and appreciate the wonderful artistry, but I can rarely fall asleep to them because I need a pretty consistent or decreasing volume throughout a video. Someone had made a recommendation to another ASMRtist that they should always have the loudest things at the beginning, and only get more quiet from there - a downward slope instead of peaks and valleys - and I realized those are the videos I could fully fall asleep to. Might be something to think about over the course of your videos! But I still love your work, and not everyone has to be able to fall asleep to every video, so I'm only sharing in case it might be helpful! And I'm very happy to see this character return - thank you!

Emily M

I adore your intros — in fact I find them tingly in their own way — something about the gentle attention to detail really gets me. I’m glad you enjoy making them! I usually watch your videos multiple times; the first time I truly watch the whole thing, and any subsequent times I usually have it on to fall asleep to. I’ve never been bothered by the music or noise level differences but of course everyone (and their headphones) is different!

Amy Snyder-Heitman

Your intros are my favorite kind of ASMR. I love, love, love them.

Kay Pflugi

Intro was perfect, I love the cinematic touch! I was asleep before you could even take out my bun 😂

Loyola133

I love your cinematic intros, I do agree they are a tinge loud.

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you Sarah! I've always offered timestamps since the very beginning of the channel, and for some who never read the description or pinned comment, it might not be enough. But yes, I will definitely try to approach videos with "decreasing activities", thanks for your feedback!

moonlightcottageASMR

Thanks for your feedback :) I'll probably lower this one for the final version.

Lüst

Waou the quality difference with your previous camera is stuning ! It's extraordinary. On the subject of intros and their sounds, I love intros and yours are no exception. On some others channels I even like to only play the non-talking intros of roleplays :) I like when you make atmosphere videos of some of your roleplays. Your choice of music for your intros are always so beautiful moreover. It's a real pleasure to watch these little cinematic sequences. I was looking forward to hear what you'll write to Maggy in this one ! I don't recall being disturbed by the intensity of your sounds, even in your intros. After all they're the beginning of the videos, so it's a bit logical if they're less low than the end. I agree with one of the previous comment, it's agreable when the sounds decrease througt the video. But we're all diffrent and for my part if i'm tired your sounds never prevent me from falling asleep (until the adds of the next video wake me up suddenly irk) i'm sorry i fear my opinion isn't of big help on that topic :) maybe make another video without the intro is a solution. On this one i loved the reflexion of the building when you open the shop. Is it SFX ? It seems so, especially on the outro. It won't boser me if your outros were a bit longer (and your intros too ;) very good job on this new video ! I love it. It's a pleasure to come again in this little hair saloon.

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you so much for your feedback! And yes, the window reflection was added during the editing :)

Triple Crescent Studios

I do love your intros. I did not find this one too loud. It flowed rather well with the story.

Martin S

Your intros are lovely, and I never skip them even on repeat viewings. I wouldn't recommend separate intro-less videos, because they'd split the views which probably doesn't sit well with the algorithm. Chapter marks work well enough.

moonlightcottageASMR

Thanks! Actually when I offer a no-intro version, it's never published on the channel: it's always a link to an unlisted video, so it doesn't split the views :)

Loyola133

Intro volume on final posted video is perfect!

Sara

I always love your intros!!!!!!!! Of course, I watch your videos as a special treat for myself after working all day. I'm not necessarily ready to fall right to sleep while watching, I just want something to help me wind down for the evening. Typically I will turn on rain sounds and turn off my screens after watching one of you videos, to go to sleep. I think the final version is perfect!!!

Karisa

I’m one that absolutely loves your intros!

Fran

I feel that the music starts a little higher and then seems to fade a little as the intro goes on. But I like it — it has an introductory effect. I also really like the intros. I like the context they give and the easing in the story. Otherwise it might seem slightly abrupt.

Tina

I love intros! It's a cool cinematic experience and sets the mood 🏮
