Mango I think it's actually a lot of people's first anime since it's such a highly recommended show, if you Google best anime it's likely to come up a lot. It was actually my first ever anime, I watched it

Cool that you kept track, I keep mine on myanimelist that way I can also see what new anime is coming out

Yorutia I'd also like to recommend my favourite romance + sports: Chihayafuru. It's my all-time favourite show and I have rewatched both the anime and manga multiple times. I've yet to meet someone who watch

@Munnin More the reason to get people to watch it and show investors the interest 😉

With that said, many popular shows that people react to are also incomplete and dormant / likely to end up dormant. At least the fact that s3 of Chihayafuru came six years after s2 is an encouraging precedent. The author is also still very active and still releasing its sequel manga. I live in hope. (sniffs copium)

Mina E.D I think it'll be fine. I've enjoyed watching reactors whose first or "one of the first" anime was AOT, cause having them check out more anime-like anime later down the road is exciting. But its also n

DS, Frieren, AOT, FMA, Death Note, JJK are pretty much the anime reaction “starter pack” in 2026. But yes, AOT does take a toll… And if it were up to me, I’d sprinkle in more light-hearted shows in the mix to balance things out a bit (for now we still have Frieren).

Yeah I remember the old days where the gateway show was SAO. I think AoT is one of the new “First Anime” to watch. I honestly don’t have much against SAO but it is not a good “First Anime” so glad it has changed.

New here after finding you on YT, so I have to throw one of my favorites out in case no one has mentioned it: Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. It’s an incredible romance with a somewhat supernatural mystery weaved throughout. The characters are fantastic and it has some of the wittiest dialogue I’ve seen. I know the title & initial poster threw some people off, but it’s not an ecchi/fanservice type show. Plus the final movie just released in Japan, and will be showing in the States & Canada in February.

Mango Super excited for AOT reactions BUT, I would love to see some romance anime at some point. It would be really fun to watch, I have 2 recommendations, firstly Blue box. It's a bit of a mixture of roman

If we are talking about romance, I would love to see reactions to the movies from Makoto Shinkai. To me, nobody does it better than him.

This is what I’m thinking too. I’m someone who enjoys having a balance in the things I watch (like when I was watched walking dead for the first time I also watched parks n rec), so I think that’ll be good for the channel as well 💫✨

Aiming end of month to do another poll w a lighthearted mix of shows I’ve seen in comments, those more closely related to Frieren vibe (even tho I know it’s one of a kind ✨)

Welcome welcomee I’m so glad you’re here!! ✨💛💫

This is my first time seeing this rec actually! We were just talking about romances, so I’ve added to the list! Tysm for the comment!

Guys, we all know that Studio Ghibli films are gonna be a big part of any movie polls that Kaye posts just based on recs, so let’s get that discussion rolling and drop your favorite Ghibli film in a reply to this comment!

I think Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are usually the top two picks, so I’m going to leave those two alone and instead give a shout-out to the original – the OG – the movie whose success was responsible for Studio Ghibli becoming a thing at all: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

(And it has nothing to do with Nausicaa being my first animated crush at like age 11, I swear! 😬)

I came here from your Frieren reactions. You picked a banger anime for a first run. Are you looking for recommendations?

It’s probably one of my top shows; and it has an advantage over most other romances: It’s complete. A lot of romance series get one season & leave the audiance hanging (probably in hopes they’ll but the mange/light novel). Or a lot of them will end on the confession, if it even gets to that.

Rascal is also not just pure romance. Yes, the relationship is the heart of the show, it’s more focused on the mystery & helping to solve each persons problems.

I’ll always vote for Princess Mononoke because my family friend is one of the English dub voice actresses for the film and it was one of the first anime I ever watched.

I think Spirited Away is the obvious place to start with ghibli but I fully expect your name. to win the first movie poll lol Would still love to see a Howl’s moving castle reaction

    Hey, wait a minute.

    I see Kaye.

    I see anime.

I see no aloe. In fact, thd whole frame is utterly devoid of succulents.

    This is false advertising 😡

For those interested 🤗 this is the working list I’ve got so far for my first ever anime movie (gathered from comments):

    • Your Name
    • A Silent Voice
    • Princess Mononoke
    • Spirited Away
    • Howl’s Moving Castle
    • My Neighbor Totoro
    • Suzume

Again I’d drop a poll for these sometime in Nov. I actually am also watching the first Demon Slayer movie after S1 (I think right?) which I’ll do as an extra drop ✨🙌💫

Princess Mononoke is a beautiful anime by a genius, but I believe that it takes an anime palate so to speak to appreciate it’s qualities; especially compared to Your Name, which let’s face it, is the best anime on that list. Studio G does not mess around and since it is going to be on YT.. it will get blocked quick. Your Name has countless reactions so she’ll be in a sea of reactions and Silent Voice will wreck her, she isn’t ready for that. I still vote for Your Name.

If you want something with a different tone as an option the 90s Ghost in the Shell is considered a classic.

Your Name is incredible, the only movie I’ve gone to see in the theaters in the last 7 or 8 years (10th anniversary re-release in August). Easily has my vote.

All great movie options. But yeah I’d second Charles’ nomination for Ghost in the Shell (1995) for some older classics which may not win polls like the newer, more popular stuff.
