Noah

Noah

Thanks Ryan

Antonio Kaisen

Had a Zionist try to get me fired yesterday. He sent my boss his substack article on me. Have I made it to the big leagues??

Blank

*Brace cover your ears* I also think it’s very cute that Brace followed his pops as a radioman. Similar to Will Menaker, another second gen mediaman

Jed Levin

So I guess it’s official that there’s new theme music, and I like it!

Ian Firstenberg

Insane speed run through Bay Area radio stations but totally forgot to mention Ta Ta Tuesdays

Jed Levin

Brace, I worked with a Dave Belden who was a big-wig in Mechanical Engineering (seriously). In NYC. Any relation?

Smooth Shrek

That’s his evil liberal brother

Smooth Shrek

Congrats man that’s the real shit

TrueAnonPod

a big part of my childhood and so a hearty MY BAD tho I think it’s been mentioned in another episode

Josh

As we approach the NBA playoffs, I’d like to respond to an offhand comment Liz made a few years ago: Lifting your pivot foot is not traveling! Putting it back down without releasing the ball for a shot or pass is traveling. The one-footed step through is legal at all levels of basketball: https://youtu.be/qcHVhe9aYoE?si=py6crjnM2IrLlx9y

Bert

FOR LIZ'S EYES ONLY! I agree its really cute that Brace has followed in his dad's footsteps.

Tyler

Can we a have Liz’s sports show

Hal Warren

107.7 The End is the classic grunge radio station in Seattle.

Gallo Altanero

I worked at KALX and the Daily Cal. Never made it to the big leagues.

Colin Helpio

Daily Cal was great, Sex On Tuesday was always.... interesting

SH

You could say I never made it as a wise man…

Hal Warren

My three ex wives tried to do the same, with TikTok exposés. I am single and unemployed.

Sunder

I did time with Claude at FCI Sheridan (1997-2002) and have the greatest admiration for him. Claude was respected inside. I reference Claude in my own podcast Sunder; the BOP sent the prison library a US Civil War poster with easily a couple thousand people pictured in multiple photos. Claude said, “What’s missing in this poster?” I couldn’t spot it. “Black people.” -every person pictured was white. Appreciate your covering Claude.

TrueAnonPod

Hey I remember meeting you in Portland, ended up listening to Sunder after that and really liked it!

olly

i interned at freedom archives back in january 2019 and claude if ur reading this im so so sorry for being the shittiest intern ever. i had no idea what i was doing but thank you so much for the experience i will treasure it always.

You should check out the LP “Par les damné.e.s de la terre (des voix des luttes - 1969-1988)” . 2018 Hors cadres. It is a compilation of songs and discours from the 60-80s anti colonialist movements within Francophones countries. The man behind this project is Rocé, a French rap artist. Son of the now notorious faussaire Adolfo Kaminsky. All the best. Worth an international interview!

Barnabas

What happened to the tip line

Ghostly

I live close to the neighborhood Marks stayed in while a fugitive. Wow look at me. Pretty cool.

Claire Simon

Any KDAY heads from LA in this thread

jay alan

Claude keeping it 💯

Amy Immermann

Another great podcast with this guest. I feel I grew up really stupid in white suburbia America but am learning so much these past few years.

T

Brace took his meds and now you have to eat your vegetables

T

107.7 Triple J is the government funded youth radio station in the Australian subtropics

Goldie

Oh my god the theme!

Aaaaaaaaaaaron1

YOUR DAD WORKED AT KPFA? I listened to that shit all the tiiiiime. This is extremely cool to me.

Gallo Altanero

Yesh a lot of C+’s doing crimes reports instead of class. Ended up with a dick editor at the LA Times now and a lot of Oakland Tribune people mad. Also did get Hatem to teach me Arabic

SMARCEY

This was a phenomenal talk with a person withe decades of left wing activism under their belt and activism while being a journalist during during the vietnam and cold war at home. Picking his brain is a treasure trove of lessons to be learned for the modern leftists. Just an outstanding guest and episode over all. Thanks for the solid work all around.

Nicholas

The Cali theme music is so beautiful, you knocked it out of the park YC!

Trey Myers

You guys should get Billy from Macrodosing on. He’s running for congress and I think it would be a very chaotic ep!

Nick

It’s too bad that after the last few years I’m so much more skeptical of any story told by this type of guy

Eric

Is this the dude from that Cermony album? Sounds just like him

Jakupe

Well let's back up for a second

Shiv

KPOO shout out!!!!!!

Antipaganda

Always I start off TrueAnon interview pods thinking "I've never heard of these people, hope I won't be bored" and then a few minutes in, I am fucking hooked and learning about a whole world that was always hidden to me. You guys really are amazing at this.

Selecao9

the ol lying commie

Antipaganda

101.5 in the grey citadel, I mean Canberra

BeanCurd

"Grinder's Graveyard on KPOO" sounds so made up I needed to google it

Kelly Michael McGuire

Posting to say, the workers at the Hyatt Centric in Boston won their contract a few months after you were here! Going to the parker house absolutely helped

the empty suit

I really loved this interview, I'm so glad you had Claude Marks on the show, this is definitely an episode that I will save for friends just getting started as new listeners of the podcast.

Andrew E Houston

Oh, man. The Subliminal Jihad dorks are gonna shit a brick. They are weirdly obsessed with the Belden family tree

Andrew Locke

Did not enjoy this guest one bit. He just shrugged off ff every question and just went on some tangent

E

Kill your dad

Jessica Johnson

I interned at KPFA❤️. Lots of internal politics, but I cherish my time there

bruce

Claude seems real as fuck

江戸 ねビル

Idk i think it’s easy to say this as a younger listener (i.e. I’m a 27 y.o listener lmao) But sometimes these episodes are not aimed at us younger people and instead are just a way to tell us to STFU and look into the books that defined our beloved Brace’s 「イデオロギー」 or whatever. But yeah, I do agree that guests like this are very hard to listen to for younger people. It’s obvious that the guest is very “of their generation” or whatever that means (like stuck in a period where it’s almost impossible for an interviewer to even agree with them in the first place?) almost to the point where it makes it difficult to have a coherent conversation. Idk it’s definitely not intentional if you’ve ever interacted with an old person. And my likely inappropriate guess is that it’s just the result of prolonged cannabis use… (But damn, the amount of times Claude misinterprets Liz or Braces comments is really hard to listen to… maybe he’s just used to disrespectful interviewers, and is just a cynical guy)

babygurl

Go read a boooooooook

I think this guy did not understand how much his left wing activism was actually top down controlled. I think he is not the smartest guy he has strong mid wit vibes where he is going on emotion and a very us vs them mindset that paints himself as part of the dark skin underclass hero tribe. But in reality he was just pushing in more state control through fighting for equity and blaming black violence on "society".
