I voted uncommitted in the primary because I want other choices besides Joe Biden. I don’t live in California or New York; I live in a state that would be better off if Democrats win the governors race. Joe is going to be a drag on the down ballot races imo. Kamala, as it’s been explained, can legally use the campaign funds and advertising spots already purchased. At a brokered convention, superdelegates would determine the candidate on the second round of voting. Lee Fang explained the superdelegates would pick some swamp creature. Give this situation, Kamala might literally be a better candidate than Biden or whoever the superdelegates would choose.

The reason for the Kamala thing is because she can inherit the fundraising the Biden campaign has already done because her name is also on it. I don't get the fuss about electoralism. I don't think any lefty who's doing neo-khive thinks it's actually going to do much of anything. But I think y'all may be misrepresenting how the democratic party is on Israel. Obviously it's all insane, but Biden is particularly insane on Israel. I don't see another Democrat so blatantly snubbing the UN without feeling bad about it. to add to what others said how democrats are stuck with either Biden or Kamala, if the democrats whole narrative is that they need to “save democracy”, propping up the decomposing guy who still has to debate in the fall would make a lot of democrats lose faith. My mom is a “we believe in science” flag in the front lawn democrat, and she has lost a lot of faith in Biden and only likes him because he’s a democrat and not trump, and this is really the first election year where I’ve not even heard her mention trump or Biden. People like her would gladly not only vote for Kamala, but would actually talk about how “proud” they are to vote again. IMO, independents seeing democrats say they’ll vote for Biden even if he is dead does kind of destroy any independents ideas of switching because to them, all these democrats sound just as crazy as trumpies.

There is a case to be made that Israel is being so reckless that they're blowing up their spot, and the smarter managerial move would have been to dampen response immediately after oct. 7. You still have a genocidal regime in power in this counterfactual but you maintain the appearance of stable and competent democracy that legitimizes Israel to the west. That seems like what the Obama, Kamala, etc wing of the party would do. But again, very marginal discussions here, this is not revolution. I think I saw on twitter it being called a donor revolution which I think is apt.

I think Liz’s read was apt, they seem to be partially energized that they might tip it and knock down a prez. I think the Biden calculus is that this election might already be decided given it’s a rerun of ‘20 and modest erosion of support leaves it plausible that it’s not significant enough to get Trump in, plus they have 6 months to campaign.

There are multiple reasons why they would go with Kamala and how she's basically the only choice besides Biden at this point. For one, it's questionable whether or not the Biden campaign war chest can be accessed by anybody else other than kamala. Also, this whole thing with potentially dropping the candidate this close to election day is pretty much completely unprecedented. Why would a potential 2028 candidate want to potentially be the person who stepped in to replace Biden and lost? It's unknowable what exactly any effect all this would have on a replacement's candidacy, and it seems like a very surefire way to put a future national political career in jeopardy. Finally, there's the issue of just the collective lack of systemic pressure. They just expect him to walk away in the gentlemanly manner, nobody wants to stick their neck out about this at all, and if he does end up deciding to drop out it will be probably too late for any outsider candidate to build any real national name recognition or any sort of identity at all leading into the election besides just being a Democrat that is invited. There's not much more to it to than that in my opinion
