I actually completed the interview process for a job on the floor at the Alvarado factory in 2021. Didn’t take it cause the commute was too far. It was indeed on a nice ranch and it was air-conditioned, which is uncommon for warehouse/factory work in North Texas, but management said explicitly that the AC was for the leather, not the workers. Very interesting place.

Iti maintain the made in Italy certification there are towns of Chinese making the bags. On top of it, people pass papers to each other there so now there are apparently really old people there, unusually high levels of "elderly" Chinese working in factories. The soundtrack for the first Katamari game is unbelievably good. This was not a reference I was expecting to hear about in a TrueAnon episode but yes the first game and soundtrack are just perfect. If nothing else Liz should show brace the intro to the game. I think the video cut scene and song in the beginning with the rainbows and pandas pretty much tell you everything you need to know and understand the game. I did also think that Katamari as a metaphor for capitalist consolidation was extremely apt and really unexpected. Phenomenal episode

I have way too much to say/sharewith regard to this ep. Loro Piana was an Italian family-oriented company until about 10 years ago. Northern Italy is where you have all the cottage industries of Italy making amaz8ng things but unwilling or unprepared to grow/evolve with the times. The sons at LP made the most amazing textiles and sold to all the big houses. They had the contract and were the only ones in the world as an outside company to sell vicuna. They wanted to do stuff to end consumer but they needed to fix their supply chain first - delivering on time to Burberry et al with the right cloth. This wasn't sexy enough and probably wanted to build it up to sell. So brought in some pi and put shops in all the key locations: Zermatt,. Cannes, Genève, etc. Eh ben, 5 years or so later they were gobbled up by lvmh. Such a pity.
