csalyer .

Finally, the YC Seinfeld ep

MediocreDude

You guys used this title in 281. Edit: not anymore.

Robert Armstrong

I am gonna make it through this year if it kills me.

Quinn

Just pretend it says …”2: Electric Boogaloo”

Dec

Luv being a Democrat

Doug Cartel

Yeah a big part of the panic in israel is that they declared a breeding war against the entire arab world decades ago and then lost their own breeding war Nationalism was a complete disaster for most nationalities Also bragging that iran didnt even kill civilians kind of fucks with the "Iranians are genocidal maniacs who love killing babies" thing they peddle

Doug Cartel

This time it appears the iranians didnt really use diplomatic channels to notify the US until after the missiles were in the air, but they did the stereotypical wind-up lime they're slowly rotating their arm for the punch - in other words US satellites saw their missile sites gearing up and used the preparation time window to get Israel's jets in the air.

Michael S. Judge

We gotta save those cows. Airlift to India. Make up for their lives of Abrahamic abuse with platinum baller status in Mumbai, Agra, Kolkata, cars stopping when the cows are in the intersection, friendly strangers draping flowers around their horns

J T

281 is “Next Year in Jerusalem”

Axel H.

They changed it 😮

Charles Frum

Liz proclaiming all Israelis as settlers is awesome

Mirjam Dornauer

Frankfurt am Main, 1989, sitting at a Cafe , I was invited by a couple of Israeli merchants sitting at the table next to me, to come party to Israel, later in the evening, after the football game, I was asked by a South African if I want to come visit his beautiful country 😂 yes, I declined both invitations

Christine Guzman

to answer Brace’s question - hispanics pronounce it Herusalén, with an accent on the last e and ending in n

Sammy

This is almost too painful for me to listen to, 20 minutes in. But I’m so glad you put this episode out because it needs to be in the world. Thank you.

Jabroni Ludd

Can we be honest and say that the houthis deserve to be the brats of the summer. Cant stop the khat bois

Ian H

At 49:28 " . . . they'd nuke a bunch of Palestinians too", not sure if anyone else here has self-soothed after seeing some particularly gut-wrenching atrocity footage by gaming out scenarios on https://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/ , but an airburst of less than 300kt would probably be fine, unless you're talking about Palestinians *in* Tel Aviv.

John Lemieux

Italian Floridians are Latino eg Ron desantis

Swimaroo

The only thing I felt after chewing khat cud was a terrible tummy ache

Alaina Nuvola

In college an Israeli guy was hitting on me telling me how cool Israel is; that I need to party in Tel Aviv this was in the early 2000’s

dam

You are now officially a titling consultant for TA

Torgeir Tannenwald

at 47:02 I thought Liz said "I'm gonna put my Tim Pool hat on"

Matt Jolo

The intent thing is what really gets me. The history books are going to equate this to the Holocaust. No doubt. The fact that there's discussion of building beach front property in Gaza for the benefit of Israeli developers is just comically evil.

kaicycle

Hey Brace there's a guy on Youtube named Bryce Balden who recently started and mastered the 4b2c (4 beers, 2 cigarettes) speedrun discipline. Here is his final attempt and current world record. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXisiEyQsbY

Colin Helpio

Feds found cp in Ryan South son's computer. Feds also found cp on Stephen Paddock brother's computer. Coincidence????

lunchables

I love the way Liz can read something supremely difficult to get through and maintain composure while still conveying emotion. I know this is your job, but I respect it! What a good ep

spoon

they don't call it port arthur anymore brace

Methew

22:30 confirmed: brace likes kids

AfroCommie

listen, this is cringe AF: I wore my TA BD9/11 shirt to bed the night Iran launched its rockets. Fucked up times, y'all, we cope, we cope but fp always 🇵🇸

"maps are all cucked by the white man" is the kind of historical materialism I turn to TA for

MEAT CLOWN

Brace trying not to cry

K H

I very highly doubt Iran has a nuke unless they were given one or processing advancements have let them produce one in some novel way. It is in their interest to seem like they have a nuke, same as N Korea. I will say if N Korea is actually confirmed to have a working nuke as opposed to underground parade practice, then Iran surely has one. Really though, all they need is enough missiles to blanket Israel and there will be no functional difference in the near term. I HOPE Iran has a nuke but I doubt it. Mea culpa. I paused it. I digitally interrupted Liz and mansplained geo nuclear politics. Mea culpaba she already said it.

Antipaganda

Was there another guy at another table with a devious moustache from the Confederacy? "I say I say, m'deah, come and see the glorious night life of Charleston in its best yeahs!"

I’ve double checked the work on the Florida-Italian question, racial Jake’s racial math checks out ✅

SH

I don’t know how to read something like that letter without being overcome.

Rangifer Tarandus

normally I trust professor Racial Jake's mathematic calculations but we do NOT claim Ariana Grande jokes aside, really good episode. rough at times but still had me laughing aloud too. thanks TA for being a breath of fresh air always

Shiv

29 min in: no, Brace, ME. TOO.

"I know this is cringeworthy and embarrassing to admit. However I wore my True Anon brand Bush Did 9/11 tee to bed the night Iran attacked. Free Palestine always 🍆🔻🔻

They do be findin a lota cp. Also...there is a lota cp so...idk.

Rumbling / bumbling

.

Liz in the last 9 min mark 100% correct. Brace is not. taking over Lebanon IS in the US interests because Hezbollah is a direct threat to US interests. The Middle East is oil supremacy for the west/US. Hezbollah, Iran pose a threat to those interests/profits/dollar supremacy. If you want the US empire to end and for us to stop killing millions of people for these goals than you should support the “axis of resistance.”

K H

Younger military men with everything to prove, famously unwilling to fight and escalate, especially when attacked. Good job Israel. That's why the average age demographic of countries prior to revolution are always really elderly...oh wait.

Kyle Stokinger

There always needs to be recent a example of what happens to countries that oppose the U.S. If you are making decisions for a small or developing country, you want to avoid being the next Korea/Vietnam/Iraq/Afghanistan at all costs. It doesn’t matter much to you if any of those countries “won” after being obliterated. Smashing a country as big and historically important as Iran will make it extremely clear the U.S hasn’t gone soft.

Michael Carilla, Steady Hand On The Tilla

K H

There is no America. There is no democracy. It's a college of corporations. America has been purchased many times and changed in such fundamental ways you can barely even see. Israel is just the latest buyer trying to take the lot. They're too small and asking for too much, so we can see them now. They gave away their biggest advantage which was invisibility and that was legitimacy.

Hunter Ladd

Brace phrase of the week: to the hilt!”

OtherRussert

Killah gorillah carilla the thrillah from Manilla!

Matt Jolo

Thank you guys for helping me piece my understanding of this conflict together and opening my eyes to the fact that it's all about the oil, baby!

is trump pilled on the mud flood??

Kamran Husain

third true anon ep this year to make me cry goddamn

ResilientBastard

I’ve met aggressive anti Zionist Jews (cheers sisters) from Florida who think they are POC. Idk. Fine with it.

ResilientBastard

Obviously Liz has a problem with responsibility to protect - does a bear shit in the woods!? Classic Polish devious bullSHIT

triplevalaska

Does it help to pretend that israel hasn't gotten everything that it wanted and can do basically what it wants with competency. Iran has most likely done minimum damage and most likely can't do much better. Just because israel are not good people doesn't mean they are losing

snapplepeachtea

can i confess something, i'm from new jersey and i was like 25 when i comprehended what a jewish person was and found out israel existed. i'm 27 now. i can't be the only one who is that oblivious right? after october 7th everyone around me suddenly activated their encyclopedic knowledge of the middle east like manchurian candidates, it was insane.

SodiumPackets

Many people were like that, Jewish or Gentile, but my family was always acutely aware, but not just because of our Jewish background but also because of how often we have moved around and my family's historical experiences. We are kinda well trained in paranoia haha.

Allie S-M

Quick maths: Number of people killed on 9/11: 2977 NYC population 2001: ~8,044,000 0.037% of NYC died on 9/11. Gaza population 2022: 1,997,328 So one 9/11 for them is equivalent to 739 people dying. At the most conservative estimate of 41,595 (Palestinian Health Ministry as of Sep 29, 2024) — and of course it’s likely to be much higher — Gaza has endured the equivalent of 56 9/11s since October 7th, 2023. That’s just comparing Gaza to NYC. Comparing Gaza + West Bank + Palestinian diaspora population to the entire US would paint an even bleaker picture.

Geronimo

These wars aren’t switches that a decision makers gets to flip on or off. There was always going to be a Vietnam independence war, a Korean independence war, because colonialism was collapsing, regardless of the destruction. There wasn’t a choice.

Mirjam Dornauer

If it would have been Frankfurt an der Oder( still DDR for a couple of months) I could have encountered a whole tribe of east Germans larping as Native Americans.

Ligma

Speaking of Vince Bevins- when Liz was talking about Trumps ideas of developing Gaza's beaches, it put me in mind of a detail in Vince's book "The Jakarta Method" where counter-revolutionaries were stacking communist bodies on the beaches of Bali, at the same time the first American owned hotel resort was being built

gocka

I was under the impression that Palestinians (especially skilled workers) were actively excluded from working in the Israeli economy?

Buried Ledes

Well, 9/11 didn’t simply happen to New York. It happened to the United States. US population in 2001 was ~285m, so the percentage dead was 0.00001044561 Using your figure for Gaza population, and the conservative estimate of 40k deaths, one 9/11 in Gaza is 20.8633093301 deaths. That means Gaza has experienced ~1917 9/11s That’s one 9/11 per week for nearly 37 years or one per day for 5 and a quarter years.

Andre

The U.S. state department and the whole government has completely stopped using the term international law. They replaced it, well before Oct. 7th, with the neologism “rules based international order.”

Geronimo

They make it clear the brain drain, hit on economy, that’s no joke. Neither is the fact that better relations with most Arab states are now far more difficult to establish, and also once the war ends more and more horror stories will emerge about Israeli Nazism from the survivors. Seems like they are doing tons of damage now but aren’t winning just putting off the inevitable…

coolridge

That embassy in Lebanon is designed by Morphosis, same guy who is doing (or more fittingly, did) the line at neom lmao

rutjake

"every *one* of my tones is cool" is kind of rockabilly coded...

Eric Murphy

Try the khat Brace.Im what I like to call "Massachusetts sober" where I Do everything besides heroin.

Brian Ward

They are humiliated when doing so, they have to pass through border gates on a daily basis, women may be groped under the presence of security checks etc but they are a key part of the Israeli economy

Vincent

Maybe Joe Biden is up late on the phone. Maybe that's part of the problem considering he's likely sundowning.

Vincent

I'm no international expert but my understanding is that Iran's attack was intended as a demonstration of what it could possibly do for the purposes of deterence. I don't know what Iran could do, but if that was indeed the intent of the attack, that is strongly suggestive that they can do more. Further, Israel has failed to weaken Hamas after a year of effort with no limitations (we could posit they don't want to weaken Hamas at all, which may be the case but I don't believe) and they lost to Hezbollah in 2006. I think I heard on NPR the other day that Hezbollah is the most powerful nonstate armed group in the world. Additionally, there are those war games the Pentagon did which reportedly suggested Iran would win in a direct confrontation with the US until they changed the game to advantage the US for PR purposes. Not to say you are definitely wrong because I'm not a military guy at all, but these and other things have convinced me that the Israelis are fragile without all out US support and the US doesn't have a great track record when it comes to armed conflicts in West Asia.

Lulu

I got chills when it came to the Trump part. I know a lot about the Palestinian struggle for various reasons including having been there and having lived in the Middle East. On Oct 7 2023 the first thing I said was that the Israelis were going to put a Trump Resort in Gaza.

sadie

was looking forward to update episode on palestine but unfortunately i feel most of this ep was grossly unserious. also brace has been making soooo many mexican jokes the past few months ...

Tea for the Tillerman

Morphosis dropped out of The Line. A long way from Venice bungalows for Thom Mayne though that’s for sure.

Alec

Re: the gorilla killa from Manila: I think you should get the GZA to help with this, he has relevant experience rhyming these words

AfroCommie

I hate the 🍆 cause that implies mockery in my view, but otherwise good translation and thank you for it

Natalie

liz saying ariana grande is a natural redhead make me laugh

Selecao9

Parents deserve equal blame for school shootings regardless of where the gun came from. That child is your responsibility.

Danny

Drone Theory by Chamayou… very relevant to the discussion of air power/infantry numbers and extremely Liz-coded writing

Behold 666

Insanely jealous that you went out for drinks with Vincent Bevins AND Alex Press.

Tranche Devereaux

I agree… I’m dismayed at the rise of Brace’s “jokes” about ethnic groups, queers and women. He sounds 99% San Francisco but 1% Coeur d’alene ID. I don’t think he’s actually a bigot… just an edgelord… it’s tiresome

Homalek

“Boohoo no idpol”. Identity politic lovers are supporters of genocide but hey, at least no one made a joke about a white person’s sexual preference or gender identity.

John Lemieux

Hey look at that! ISIS is back in the news. An Afghan national was arrested by the FBI for plotting an Election Day terror attack. The FBI “was in control of the plot the whole time.” Thats wild how they always pop up.

Michelle C

This thread in an ep that clearly outlines and underscores specifically the US involvement in/control of Israel's reign of terror is depressing. Please wise up (and read episode titles... was not billed as an "update on Palestine"... this is an analysis podcast that has always replied heavily on humor, not a news source ffs)

sadie

genuinely what does this mean

Rosie

My friends are all there. I do mutual aid work and have been this past year and my god it’s been a living hell. Everyone should just get to know one person living in Gaza who’s been displaced and they’ll instantly understand the urgency of the situation here.

JV

Saying Hezbollah have depopulated northern occupied Palestine because they have been 'firing rockets into settlements' is a bit of a sloppy summary. They focused solely on Israeli military targets on the one hand, while Israel would strike villages and kill numerous civilians, journalists, doctors etc. on the other. Until very recently with the absolutely insane Israeli escalations, Hezbollah only fired rockets at specific houses in already evacuated settlements that were being used by the Israeli military, or otherwise some of the less precise katyusha's would hit settlements that were basically joined to military bases that were the primary target. That's why the death toll was hundreds of civilians on the Lebanese side and realistically like 2 Israeli "civilians" on the other side (both of whom were working as military contractors in bases on the border when they were hit).

JV

have to agree tbh. I love Trueanon but so much of this episode is a bit of a frustrating slog, below the basic level of understanding that I'd expect on this topic. Things like Brace being oddly credulous of Israel's own reported casualty figures in Gaza etc. Honestly an instance where they would have been way better off just doing an interview with someone from the Electronic Intifada like Jon Elmer so they'd at least be getting more facts straight

sadie

"I understand it's three white americans running this podcast but yall rily need to check yourselves and actually learn about the resistance because the way it was discussed in this episode was super disrespectful and wrong. To act as though the resistance operates humanely in an appeal to the morality is unserious, these are religious revolutionaries who have dedicated their lives to the struggle and know better. The reason why they operate within the rules of law is because they are fighting for a just cause, are guided by islam and are not genocidal maniacs. Perhaps it's not in line with the "vibe" of the podcast or whatever but this was a subject deserving of more respect especially given the severity of the situation." - my lebanese comrade

Medium Dong Bill

"To act as though the resistance operates humanely in an appeal to the morality is unserious" gibberish.

Justin

Crazy whitewashing of an attempt at revolutionary decolonization that should be fully supported. Super disappointed with the milquetoast coverage in this episode. Have some principles

Sara S

The thrilla in Manila already happened

Bent Mind

Brace are Italian Americans from NJ and NY Caucasian?

Axel H.

What's with all these sanctimonious whiners coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden? If you thought they were laughing at dead civilians, I don't think you were really listening. Not that that wasn't obvious already.

Justin

Keep standing up for these podcasters who dgaf about u loser

Luccia

That's liz's sad laugh that she does when things are bleak. If u listened to more TA u might know it

Jacob Calcutt

It’s not if you remove the obviously typo’d “the” before “morality”

Sarah S

That’s really insightful and thoughtful of you, Dong.

Riley Towers

Why does Brace think the US should have the draft?? I have missed that

Your Mum

Justin you are paying for their patreon… you need to sit down

Justin

I am paying for the Patreon which is exactly why I’m critical when they put out bad episodes. Why would I not be?

Ruth Gemison

Before Oct 7th YouTube would bombard me with visit Israel tourism ads. Not anymore.
