i wonder what episode 500 will bring!

Mango Bolsonaro

In the wise words of Jeffery E. Epstein: “What’s all this gotta do with pussay?”

Jacob

First

HonestEd

As always just in time for work

Clinton Weeks

THE HOLY 500 is almost here. Really happy for you guys and thank you all for the years of fantastic content. Can’t wait for the live show!!!! All love from Detroit ❤️

Brent

The thumbnail for this episode. 👨‍🍳💋

Alex

ACLU? You weren't kidding with that title.

Kimble

representing myself in court, delivering my defense and counterclaim while painting clown miniatures for my little tiny army

PottyJohn

This morning I was hungover af and taking a shower when I tried to sneak out a fart. Bad idea turned into diarrhea. The humid stench fucked me up and I threw up everywhere in the shower. Stench even worse. Spent the next ten minutes gagging and puking and left the shower feeler worse than when I got in. God bless.

Dakota

In ep 500 they reveal Liz is FBI, YC is CIA, and Brace was simply picked up off the street

Abbas Araghchi

Episode 500 going to finally reveal that Brace, the Lion of Damascus, is actually a federal asset cooked up in a laboratory

Lizzbo

Thank God. No dopamine Monday hit hard

the crazy guy

Is that Stallone or Karl Urban on the episode "artwork"?

TrueAnonPod

It’s Sly though both movies are wonderful

Carlos Margarine

it's been revealed to me in a dream that ep. 500 will have Dark Brandon on

Pelican Grief

I love your work on pod save america

Rory Flaherty

Oh, so every meth you disagree with is Nazi meth?

Jabroni Ludd

Liberal law is wack because it took Bundy alive and let him represent himself in court making it a circus and using his lack of handcuffs and jumpsuit to try to escape twice.

Fat Cobra

As my Grandfather decended in madness he referred to Turd Stukel as a great writer.....

Welfare state

Episode 500 is either going to be the implementation of the Belden program or another Sarah Squirm episode

mitchell

I hope episode 500 is a full Morrowind playthrough with Brace

Hugo

Pretty good ep until the guest started talking about how ‘we’re not China’ and the evil Stasi and said that the US is a remarkably free society. Like ok bro

Harvey Marsalko

aclu coming in clutch with my daily dose of libtardation. the stasi would be the best case scenario for whats coming for you

DaFunkBackToDaPunk

I think cutting off SNAP is designed to create civil unrest to justify the use of the Insurrection Act

Jim Veil

I've had the same thought.

Joseph Mabrey

Did you know China executes 300 billion people a year

Carolyn

Within you are two lawyers…

AKDetroit

Peter and I spoke briefly, but it became clear he was under some kind of drug impact at the time.

Teddy w

Benzedrex inhaler mentioned

Hanna Hess

A nice conversation, but disappointing to hear no discussion, or seemingly any mention (maybe I missed it?) of the Trump admin’s attacks on the rights of transgender individuals and the ACLU’s significant loss with the U.S. v. Skrmetti case earlier this year. I highly recommend Jules Gill-Peterson’s article (via The Baffler) on this subject https://thebaffler.com/latest/reject-transgender-liberalism-gill-peterson

Omar Hashem

I think liz is referring to Matcha Labubu Dubai Chocolate

Graham

1000 Colonial Farm Road, Langley, Fairfax County, Virginia

Omar Hashem

idk Dems respect the norms and they literally genocided Gaza I don't see why any of this matters

Graham

this guy is kind of a knucklehead...

Peanut Horse

A lot of good info this ep, but idk, like brace was saying, I feel like it’s more likely than not that a good 50% of what was talked about as safeguards in our legal institutions just fall apart over the next 6 months

joancutesac

Ben invoking the Stasi rather than the Gestapo as shorthand for authoritarian overreach, very telling

Clean Shirt Piggie

Talk about a liberal president with a massively funded iceforce

Sam Regan

Can we get an NBA gambling scandal episode soon? Thank you for your attention to this matter

Clean Shirt Piggie

Conservative podcasts like TA stood with T***p during the interregnum allowing his triumphant return to power

Joe S.

Brace, when are going to release your amphetamine tier list?

Mirjam Dornauer

I was born and grew up in the Hauptstadt der Bewegung, and this bothered me a lot, too. Oh, and "das Leben der Anderen" may be a great movie, but pure western Propaganda

ERIC

YC, can I faintly hear brace eating?

monkey

“It’s bad, but at least we’re not the UK”. In the UK we say exactly the same thing about the US.

joancutesac

Liberals will never forgive East Germany for denazifying

Nathan

When the guest talked about how funny the latest South Park was, I knew we were reaching max lib.

Hugh Jazz

Comforting the toddler getting zip tied outside my apartment while his parents get disappeared in broad daylight that it’s ok, at least we aren’t china or have to deal with the Stasi

B P

I hope episode 500 is an a capella concept album with a friendship theme

joancutesac

He gives away his priorities when he admits American empire was always bad for the periphery, but it was never this bad for US

B P

No jokes, just thank yous

A

most liberal thing to carve into a cliff that i can think of is something my aunt said to me unironically: “obama was a philosopher king”

B P

Why

Nathan

It’s funny that the SC defers to the government on national security questions by claiming they aren’t experts on that. Friends, you aren’t experts on environmental science either but that doesn’t stop you from weighing in on environmental regulations.

Hunter Saint Hunter

Did you see that pod save america was talking about the anti trump SP eps instead of LA riot coverage, or Gaza or ANYTHING this past summer? Truly peak lib.

abby

The HIPAA situation, with the mad dash to deskill the full spectrum of clinical and research workers using dogshit LLM tools, is absolutely dire and nobody seems to care. I bring it up in meetings and nobody gives a single shit lol 🥲

Henry

Need this

SMP500

Someone online said Trump is making the White House look like an Iraqi Brothel and that took me outtt

Mango Bolsonaro

I’d like to think not but it’s clear that there are movers in shakers in the trump admin right now that genuinely have plans to turn the United States government into a legitimately fascist entity (more than it already is) .

Mango Bolsonaro

Most liberal thing to carve into a stone is clearly “Notorious RBG”

Markus Puskar

Almost resent jokingly referring to this as libbing out. This dude represented Snowden, Khalil, el Masri. And based off some of the comments here, I mean damn. You guys must hold yourselves to really high standards if this dude isn’t doing enough for you

Sydney

More lawyers on the show please!

kain

who up lobbing out

August Gardener

Benzodiazepine ampoule is crazy even for Brace

Marcelle Roulin

Bennie meaning Benzedrine (your grandpa’s uppers)

Marcelle Roulin

Ben Wizner, the lady-photographer-punching lead singer of Screeching Wizner?

Michael Rance

oh no, the lawyer that has spent 12+ years advocating for Edward Snowden said a critical thing about former East Germany’s surveillance agency :/ i guess it’s time to not listen to him anymore because he’s a dumb lib :/ i am very smart

hey_boo

It’s going to be interesting when SCOTUS DOES get rid of birth right citizenship and this last bastion of lawyers finally realize that none of this was real to begin with.

bob

The only truly clued in British squad

Marcelle Roulin

The guest dropping an “Indochina” one week after Brace’s big Minutemen Hater Reveal can’t be a coincidence

Timothy Buttons

Lots of very astute listeners in the comments noticing that the liberal is a liberal. Glad to see that everyone is working hard to earn their LeftPoints

Timothy Buttons

In my eyes the work that he is doing to try and help people like Mahmoud Khalil is far more important than any dumb lib takes he has

Blank

Brace has any part of you ever thought about going to law school? Yes law is bullshit and law school even more so, but I think you’d do some cool things with a JD and might even enjoy some parts of it. I could see you at CUNY

Emily Richardson

The parting words of the guest. He made it sound like they had a strategy to deal with a lot of this stuff and I honestly just have felt like no one’s doing anything to stop this crazy shit, so I’m glad at least one organization seems to be aware and organizing in a productive way.

Your Mum

Hey brace hey Liz can I ask you guys for some advice on personal situation of mine?

Emily Richardson

Not saying it’s gonna work but it’s better than what the dems are doing.

Emily Richardson

Now that I’m reading the other comments I’m realizing I may have missed the point of this episode haha

Turlough Kelly

I feel like ACLU libs are perhaps groping towards the understanding that the wellspring of fascism (the US) doesn't have the same incentive to fully suppress the notional rights of its own citizens. Unfortunately, as the jibes at the DDR and China indicate, they find it impossible to reckon with the realities of societies that have faced down legitimate and fully-fledged fascism, and how the parlour-game idealism of the ACLU worldview breaks down when you're in the US crosshairs.

G

The libtardation is euphoric 🤤… don’t stop hammering home those NORMS 😩 and PRINCIPLES 😏… we’re SO CLOSE to getting the institutions RIGHT this time 😆… I’m gonna cum

The most liberal thing you can carve into a mountain (Native American heritage site) is a land acknowledgement

ERIC

He incepted the mastication noises into my mind!

joancutesac

Not to mention he himself admits that the norms he wants to return to are the norms of the US 70s and 80s which like...yikes sorry if you're in West Asia or Latin America or East Asia or Africa or...

joancutesac

This is such an important liberal perspective that is never represented in public discourse, thank you

joancutesac

Liberals are fine with the Snowdens of the world because their cause is about negative freedoms like freedom from surveillance, freedom from censorship, freedom from government, but the second the conversation becomes about positive freedoms like the DDR's freedom to healthcare, freedom to education, freedom to employment, you guys turn squeamish because then it's all about "government overreach" and the Stasi as stand-in for your mean, mean daddy

Fresh Dill

lol this guys closing thought is literally it can’t happen here

Shrimp Lord

man helps defend Palestinian activists, immigrants, and the host of this podcast. podcast listener comments "we're going to kill you"

AD

Maybe lawyers who are less lib/more critical of the “merits” of the conservative judicial apparatus (they don’t care about precedence and norms anymore) like Rhiannon of 5-4 pod!! The other hosts are lib tho pls just get Rhiannon

AD

“‘the arc of the universe bends toward justice -mlk’ -barack Hussein obama”

Harvey Marsalko

Does shrimp refer to the size of your intellect? Please read it again, use context clues, take a break if you have to cuz I know it's kinda long. I think if you try really really hard you'll eventually understand what I said and why I said it.

Dylan

The Twombly/Iqbal blackpill

Timothy Buttons

This point hits less hard when you consider that this guy is one of the people organizing the legal defense of said toddler.

wavylady

“We don’t give advice” - a super cut of brace saying “relapse” just flashed through my mind

Quinn

PLEASE

Timothy Buttons

Why does it matter what this guy thinks about China or the Soviet Union when the practical work that he does is defending people against persecution by the US government?

Sydney

I’ll check out 5-4 for Rhiannon!! Thanks 🫶

Amphetamine pyramid

Matthew Beliveau

I hope episode 500 is an update to the trueanon rules for life. Feels like they need to revisit these to put them in line with our new liberal-conservative bridge building values.

Michael

55:30 ❌ disagree !

Z F

There's a lot of mouth sounds, but I think that's Ben

BeanCurd

The synthesis of the surveillance state with AI will rip apart the social fabric. For example, Microsoft just updated their terms of service to say that any Word Doc uploaded to the cloud (i.e. with an auto-save feature turned on) is subject to be scraped for their LLM. So that means if you ever wrote down a private thought, journaled, sketched a poem, etc., your words will be added to their dataset. Presumably the same goes for your search terms, your therapy session, and whatever else your phone is monitoring. In the very near future, you will be able to ask ChatGPT (or some equally dumbass chatbot) "what does [name] really think of their mother?" and it will give you an (undoubtedly partially correct) answer.

Internet jones

The horrible ai welfare stuff happened in Australia with robodebt! Honestly it’s worth covering but robodebt is such a horrifying story that I actually fear it being covered in America cause it would give people awful ideas

Kern Mailer

Dude literally makes your critique within the first 5 minutes of speaking. Turns out it’s not just liberals who are addicted to virtue signaling.

Brian Long

i think about it all the time. We need it.

Henry

You didn't miss the point, everyone commenting is just a fucking freak

Henry

Would you prefer your lawyer quick draw a revolver in court

Zzz

So I think it’s safe to say the government will not reopen at this point lol

Brent

Trump does the longest government shutdowns. You’ve never seen longer shutdowns. Everyone is saying.

Ben

Heavy subject matter lately. We need some stupid episodes mixed in.

Eli Torgersen

I have this vision of Liz interviewing Steve Kerr and it would be awesome

Kern Mailer

“In the litigation community…” is one of the funniest things anyone has ever said on this very funny podcast

Martin Kasey

Drug addiction? I think you mean substance use disorder?? You just lost a friend

Nic Bodiford

Liz makes a point about the type of guys who end up in ICE/DHS. Judge Movies has a show about Harsh Times—David Ayer basically outlined this exact phenomenon in that movie.

ems

No ik what you mean. It feels like people like this lawyer make up the ragged duct tape that’s holding everything together right now from an institutional standpoint. Who knows how long it’ll last but you can’t deny that for now it is absolutely helping real people. I’m glad there are smart and competent people like him out there working to help others with the tools they have available. And listening to his account is much more helpful than reading doomer conjecturing which has been almost nearly all of my media intake these days

Zac

somehow noting that the the US has institutions that differ in important ways from other countries that have "backslid" into autocracy is imperialist apologia

Pranjal Dwivedi

The lawyer is right, the US, just like other large countries like India, Brazil has too much inertia and entropy to be fully held in spell by fascism in a totalizing, all consuming way, life will continue on as normal for a lot of people, ideology can not be a substitute for material comforts which are still the biggest impediments for large liberal democracies.

Ben

It’s still crazy to me how all in Microsoft is going on this when it doesn’t feel like they need to. The level to which they’re tied up with OpenAI is going to fuck them hard some day.

Feeldix Bieberman

Australia’s contributed so many fascist ideas to the global north

joancutesac

Aren't you just virtue-signal signaling?

Zakir KH

Is this guy really a lib?

Tea for the Tillerman

Tea for the Tillerman

Black Oak Arkansas mentioned but no widespread panic drop after the guest said “widespread panic”, mixed feelings for TrueAnon’s southern rock contingent

Timothy Buttons

It's just the TrueAnon call in gossip episodes

Zakir KH

lol I’m the dumbass who didn’t even get this guy was for real a lib. I guess all the hopefulness he has is bullshit

lyn

Lizzing out

Sean

the guys a liberal but he’s pouring a lot of cold water on liberal Chicken Little shit, like believing there is a ICE run death camp killing thousands in Los Angeles right now

Z F

benzodiazepines include xanax, but Brace was talking about benzedrine, an old timey kind of speed, as the commenter above said. basically the opposite, as far as drugs go

Treacherous Bussy

Thank you love I meant what is the number to call

Louis Wilkins

I got woken up at three am by a massive thunderstorm. It seemed like the apocalypse at first and it felt welcome and good. Then I realised this episode had dropped. Not a full consolation but pretty good.

Nick

Good guest!

burglerian jihad

I just hope Eric's dad lives long enough to watch everything be taken away from him as he's betrayed by children

Andrew

Excellent, really solid interview. I do hope that Liz and Brace gab seshes come soon. The NY Crimes has eeeeeeverybody wanting a slice of this action.

dan

i am thanking GOD to learn that when i am unlawfully detained and scream “you aren’t allowed to do that!!!”there’ll be a thousand lawyers making $250k+ a year each ready to agree with my legal opinion as I am disappeared into a border camp

Ben

The most lib thing you can carve out in stone is "It's Her turn". Am I doing the joke right?

Hugh Jazz

That’s a fair point, dude is definitely doing more to help real people in a tangible way than my dumb ass is. I don’t love the seeming deference to American rule of law when our legal system seems pretty easy for the powerful to manipulate but again, your point is well-taken

David

Why are you friends with Clarence Thomas???

Subodh Kafle

I would say all the hosts have those views. They complain about Kagan dissenting opinions on the grounds that she talks too much about norms, precedent and procedure as opposed to outlining the material impact of the decision.

RHZM

I also was shocked at how confident he is— he did point out some smart structural decisions that will make things tougher here than overseas… but yeah… I’m still a bit concerned this guy is assuming a lot.

Emily Richardson

Perfectly said!!! That’s exactly what I took from it.

christian

it's in the bio if not this one then every other episode

christian

it is kinda fun to lib out every once in a while as a treat

Philippe Duhart

AnTIfa sounds more foreign and distracts attention from the “anti” part, which attracts attention to the “fa” part being opposed. Also the Supreme Court has ruled one can legally be an official member of Hamas but if you do anything for the group in your capacity as a member that’s material support.

James Moore

Good ass episode. Yeah the dude is libbed tf up but guess what? Liberals make up a massive section of the government and voting population so what they’re thinking is important regardless if it’s misguided or assumptive. What the ACLU is doing for Palestinian activists and immigrants is an unequivocal good. Also Obama/Hillary/Beyonce carved into stone

Rachel

He threw (another) fit at Riot Fest this year. So fun

abby

Really appreciated this episode. Don’t have to agree with the general lib outlook (sometimes i do, often I don’t) but law and the rule of law have a huge determining effect on what the political landscape and conditions of possibility are at any given moment. We act like internet brain rot is only affecting the right but some of my most online leftist friends have extremely pessimistic brain rotted takes on the political situation because they get all their news in slop format, too — it’s really nice to have someone who can explain the scary developments from a procedural standpoint. It’s better than just wallowing in despair, which I do feel is the effect of a lot of leftist “content” these days. Again, don’t have to agree with him and I sometimes don’t, but found the points of disagreement instructive and the episode valuable. Cheers

Jordan

extremely lib episode. Especially just blanket statement (CHYNA) that we are the freest to scream into the void and that the surveillance system doesn’t have a direct pipeline to state prison (for non citizens as guest says) / removal… yeah that holds up for black Americans, native Americans, or Americans that don’t look white.

Jordan

Auntie Tea Pho

Timothy Buttons

I agree with you on your first point, about comparisons to the stasi and China and all of that, I just think that to focus on that would be to judge this guy as you would a podcaster/media personality (ie just in terms of what they say). If he was just a fellow media guy coming on the pod I'd agree with more of these criticisms, but I respect the work he's doing to the point that I don't really care about any undue idealizing of America on his part.

Jordan

👆👆👆👆

dan

not from the ACLU

John Peterson

Remember ACLU supported Citizen United allowing corporations to spend unlimited money on political campaigns. Its a pro oligarchy organisation.

Hugh Jazz

Then in that case we’re in full agreement, and I’m happy to admit my smartass comment misses the forest for the trees

Matelda

Damn this is pretty libbed out but i liked it, thank you. I like sources of optimism because i really don't want to have problems

Nathan

I love hanging out in Walmart parking lots with him.

bob

The biggest point of disagreement I have with the guest is his assertion that American civil society is strong. I don’t think that’s the case at all. American civil society has been slowly destroyed at all levels for several decades - starting with the Second Red Scare and continuing on through the present day, for political and economic reasons. We have no unions, no functional “left” organizations, even hobby organizations and social clubs have steadily disappeared from American public life. There’s nothing but the market. Only commodity exchange can exist. And Zionist organizations. I think we are living in an interesting time because we saw a flourishing of non-market based social & political organization following Occupy, which was largely smashed and exhausted by 2020, leaving nothing but social media (and now AI chatbots) behind in the void. Which is really a regression back to the baseline, but because of the previous few years of social energy, the social repression of the pandemic hits harder. I appreciate the guests optimism. But I think that at a baseline level, rebuilding civil society is a huuuuuge task ahead. Jacobin had a good piece about the Red Scare recently that was really good in which the author argues that the Red Scare is a permanent form of reactionary governance, and that the smashing of civil society is a key counter-insurgency strategy that has been prophylactically employed by American capital since the end of the war: https://jacobin.com/2025/10/mccarthyism-trump-red-scare-robeson-cpusa-khalil

joancutesac

Because as communists we want to end the system that lawyers like him depend on. He wants the US to stay “free” from socialism, which in practice means keeping the capitalist machine intact, which will inevitably keep producing the very oppressed communities his professional class builds its careers on defending.

Ben

El Cat

I’m super bummed no one invoked the “dox that baby” gag when discussing doxxing. Great episode otherwise though, and oddly reassuring in ways I needed to be reassured

Jacob Bucci

Classic lib move to go on a lefty podcast and project their guilt by throwing elbows at polities that actually stood up to fascism.

Alex

Wouldn't be libbed out if there weren't someone ignorantly, confidently, espousing anti-communist sentiments.

Hugo

Genuinely can’t tell if this is ironic or not. Yes, the BJP, a famously not fascist organization

buttface

Banter like this is why I'm still subbed: Brace: "If you believe in yourself strong enough --" Liz: "No." Brace: "and hard enough--" Liz: "No." Brace: "then you can do anything." Liz: "That's not true."

NY

It’s crazy to me how much he’s downplaying the fascist slide that we’re heading towards and just saying the courts will fix it… how is that possible when the Judiciary is cinched up? The Democratic Party couldn’t even get Trump on A COUP ATTEMPT! How does he think anyone of these ghouls is going to face justice?

Pranjal Dwivedi

Yes I’m very familiar with the BJP, in national elections they receive around 40 percent or less of the vote cast, more voters choose left of centre parties even in national elections, it’s just that the vote is splintered amongst many parties versus a singular right wing party like the BJP. In state elections they are often defeated as well. They project hegemony like the United Russia party but in reality have a fraction of their fellow Russian traveler’s support amongst the population.

Matelda

I know you're being sarcastic but people have been freed on this basis, rather than disappeared forever.

dan

yep. and those few and far between who are saved are plastered and cited as much as possible in apologia for a legal establishment that lets tens of thousands disappear into silence.

joancutesac

He thinks there's something uniquely special about the US that makes it the only country in history to be immune to fascism.

joancutesac

He managed in one episode to disparage the Chinese for defeating Japanese fascism, the DDR for defeating German fascism, Stalin for defeating German, Italian, AND Japanese fascism, and then had the stones at the end to suggest that fascism isn't really a threat to the US and that we shouldn't be worried about it. This is what we mean when we say liberals are more comfortable with fascism than socialism.

Mooniemafia

He said that we all have an inbox that would harm our professional lives so what the fuck is this guy on?

N Clementine

I agree that left wing brainrot/being the smartest in the room obsession by saying “it’s over, we’re cooked” etc does nothing but contribute to the supposed “winning”

Quinn

Dawg look at my lawyer type beat

Brian

I agree, when the nazi were on their rise in the early 1930s there were judges that were dissenting against the nazi party, but they were left out to dry with little public support from anyone with power or influence.

jbwhat

I thought this was great, but I think it would have been helpful to know what the judicial threshold of compromise, to him, would have been the point at which he would start to worry. Also, he's totally wrong about classified documents and national security. That's been a right wing media way to defend Trump. Sure, tons of classified documents have been overclassified or are irrelevant, but most of that is stuff thats labeled "classified" not "secret " or "top secret". Some secret stuff is quickly irrelevant, like stuff with dates, but, some is legit stuff, like the battle plans Trump leaked to a reporter, on tape. The problem with classified stuff is that you can't say national security isn't important until you see the documents. So, it's legit to say its a concern. Especially with all the moving around of the documents. In fact, its a crime to move boxes with those labels, without a courier card. And, I know he mentioned that nobody cares about hypocrisy anymore, but it's enraging that the same people who dismiss it with Trump demanded hard time for Winner and Manning.

casey

Can y’all do an ep on what the hell is happening in the UK right now? 🙏 thank you

Don't listen to the haters. Lib on 🤘🏼

Kai

Hey! This liberal is trash 🗑️ 😊 ALAB

the crazy guy

I don't like it when things I like are described as "cult". It engenders vanity.

Trylemat

Looking outside in on the American situation, it's wild hearing someone talk about a strong civil society and freedom in the context of mass roundups of undesirables. Also that bit that went:"We're much better off than places like Hungary because all state functions that actually benefit the citizens have been relinquished to the private sector" just come off insane to me.

podcast enjoyer

The tariff shitshow has to just be market manipulation

Joseph McCarthy

Chomsky is a hack. Missed opportunity to play WSP at 1:08

Really appreciated listening to Ben. Great episode and hope to hear him more.

Dude really came on and said "Distributed, atomized, privatized, ambiguously federated power...good? C'mon, y'all!"

Petrorenminbi

If canary mission is protected speech i don’t think i believe in free speech

Yeah tell that to NoDAPL protesters being held in dog cages after fusion center surveillance

Cal

Glad to see an Unc on the pod 🤗

Marcelle Roulin

Time to take his roadshow to the coasts. Cindy’s on Methadone is such a fuckin heater

KatrinH

Why is there no legal precedent for students at universities being protected because they are paying for the university. Wouldn’t they be protected in that way? They should have a right to protest anything they want they are paying to be at that college

Bustnar

God i hate libs

Jennifer Hammerhead

Amen. "WSJ still does good journalism" sorry lib, if whatever outlet wasn't reporting on our country's genocide, as a genocide, everyday for the past 3 years, they aren't doing any actual "journalism". Why should anyone listen to media that ignores Gazas slaughter but goes out of its way to make all of us hyper aware of everything scary Trump does? The media's focus on Trumps spectacle contrasted against their silence on Gaza is what scare me the most.

Selecao9

The gong has a smiley face… I’ve never been more disappointed by this podcast

C.M. Worthington

Wouldn’t the tactics and legal arguments that the government used against ELF and ALF be the most likely playbook this administration might try to use against whoever they decide to lump into ANNE-TEE-FUH?

at 58:55 it sounds like Brace says they were talking to Trevor Paglen? was this on a podcast?

This is the 500th ep if you count the emergency ep after epsteins death as canon

Buried Ledes

Yeah, this dude had some pretty dusted opinions for sure.

Baffling takes aside, I really liked the episode, interesting to hear about the mechanics of the American legal system from someone who knows it inside out.

Beautiful, brilliant, hopeful, sober episode. Thanks.

Doug B

Ben Wizner (who Patreon autocorrects to Winner, PREACH) is my new hero. Loved this episode. Love this man. Just set up a recurring donation to ACLU too.

Michael

I liked hearing from someone who knows what they're talking about law-wise, but after a while I got the impression that the reason he's so lackadaisical about American fascism is that it will provide his organization with plenty of cases to work on, and therefore provides him with job security.

1:43:00 foolish. It's not Trump who reads. It's Bannon.

bobore

Nah. But he is a lib with bad takes.

bobore

Nice try, ravenous foot fetishist.

All things aside, it is foolish to believe there will ever be true legal protection against mass data collection for the purposes of training models. It is simply unprovable. There is currently no known way to reverse engineer results which means there is no way to prove that private or copyright material was used in the training without corroborating records which can easily be "lost."

brace不会说破谈话 我说大不好。谢谢

What's that old saying? The important thing here is that you are very determined to convince yourself you are better than both of them.

Goddamnit Liz is pregnant from a fan! Congratulations true anon fan bases we’ve liberated the means of reproduction. Glory to the democratic people’s child of Liz Franscak but seriously congratulations. This means I can finally get off the anti Natalism i suppose. Throw one in the oven myself. And not in the polish way.

My boi is very optimistic. To be a lawyer I guess you have to be, or the most ruthless cynic.

K H

Classified government information is a bullshit concept.

K H

Ok so you clearly didn't see the gooner episode or you'd know community has never been stronger. The destruction of unions is a big reason why no one cares as much as they should about government spying. If you're making moves in a union, that would and should be something of concern, or in a militia for that matter. Of course now we have unhinged group chats, so who knows.

K H

Cleaning my guns to this. Inshallah we will vote our way out before brunch.

K H

Stop crying and learn to operate and build drones.

K H

Yes, extremely. 🙏

I used to think that, too, but I don't anymore. I don't think ten people can keep a secret anymore, and I think, generally, that it's less about secrets, now, than shit just being buried in a deluge of other shit. Investigative reporters ive heard, too, have been impressed by how much they get from foia requests. They're more afraid of corporations and their private security. Sometimes I think the amount of stuff that gets classified is nefarious, but, then, I have to deal with a shitty email application that basically forces you to classify something stupid because otherwise you have to spend ten minutes navigating a garbage interface. And, I think Trump is what you get if you have a government where everyone, outside, knows what you're thinking, because he doesn't seem to care about secrets and constantly gets played because of it. In spirit, tho, I agree with you, I just don't think its possible or good here and now.

Ah yes adventurism

100%, NYPD has the largest digital surveillance system in the world (DAS), mostly used to harass black/brown poor New Yorkers and those with previous convictions.

I’ve seen so many videos of leftists who have had the FBI knock on their door recently. I think Brace’s concerns are completely valid. Ik 1 guy who was detained by immigration for 8 hours while they checked his background & another guy that’s Canadian who was questioned by the feds while he was in NYC.

Kerri

Did I miss something here or are you going by the pregnancy face from the articles?

K H

Nothing ventured nothing gained, and increasingly, much lost. Workplace organizing and politicization> drone operation> john wick shit

Jordan

Yeah workplace organization good 👍🏼 idk how next link is drone operation but ok

Banning American/western NGOs from your country is in fact based and smart business if you actually want to protect your national interest from the predatory west

Paul Brewer

I’m Britain’s 🇬🇧 strongest defender in the comments here, but the surveillance state there has been more of a concern since at least the turn of the century. It’s one reason I left.

Benphish

People used to take Benzedrex inhalers and try to extract the Benzedrine from them in lemon juice or stuff the cotton in the inhaler into capsules. It's not great
