I can't honestly describe myself as being out of it, but I've had periods where I've been significantly less inclined - this usually involves being physically and socially active, engaging in genuinely fulfilling creative endeavours, and very importantly taking any setbacks as a lesson instead of a reason to spiral. I visited China seven months ago, and I can tell you there's a stark difference in the way people act vs. the rest of the world. Everyone seems to be in a relationship and strolling outside with their SO, they also don't use dating apps to find a partner. In addition to that, the men are not reluctant to approach you for a date irl bc it happened to me 3x in the span of one week. Whereas in the USA, it’s happened to me multiple times where I’m out and a guy spots me, only to confess later on that he tried to find me on dating apps or sm to avoid an in-person conversation. “Flow state” is almost entirely positive for me. I may be misunderstanding Liz’ take that it’s negative. I enter flow state when surfing, playing basketball, working cattle in the yards etc etc. things I’m highly proficient at and enjoy.
