I remember back in 2013, I was at an EarthFirst rondi & someone was saying that its good that Tesla's are becoming popular because they're better for the environment. I was young, but I was like I don't think electric cars are the answer, I think the problem is everyone being car brained. I think about that often. I feel like there's a kernel of 'wow, the lft was wrong about that'. But I do think the environmental pitch that the left got got by with Elon Musk in the early days is telling of how single-issue politics can so easily spiral into corruption.

The CPC are not as romantic a party as described. It would be unlikely to get in a taxi and discover that it was driven by a member - the CPC is more PMC and retirees now. There is one trade union allowed which is controlled by the party. You want anything done it has to go through the party. For anything to exist for longer than a week, it has to be approved by the party. And if it isn’t approved it stops existing. There has been massive development for decades which means there is less dissent but that growth is slowly which is why Xi locked everything down and dissent cannot be expressed.
