We speak to Boni Illagan, renowned Filipino anti-martial law activist, journalist, and playwright about his radicalization, Martial Law under the Marcos dictatorship, and the hollowing out of Filipino historical memory. Ferdinand Marcos’s son, Bong Bong Marcos, is running for President in the May elections alongside Sarah Duterte, the current president's daughter. A nightmare for those who survived to tell the stories of their capture, torture, and years of imprisonment under the Marcos rule, Bong Bong has soared in popularity particularly with young people.

Boni Illagan is co-convenor of the Campaign Against the Return of the Marcoses and Martial Law, an organization working tirelessly to keep the memory of the Marcos’s brutality alive.

And also both Hillary Clinton and Jeffrey Epstein, if we’re going to be honest about it.

Its actually quite a good interview. But yes do okc bombing. Bring boltzmanbooty on for okc.

sir peepus

this episode is for the birds!!

TrueAnonPod

I wrote a very mean comment but I'll replace it with a nicer one: The person we interviewed was sexually and physically tortured for years by military intelligence given orders by a man whose son is using the money his father looted from the country to become president of a country . I am glad you saw some viral twitter threads on OKC and I think it's an important subject but if you are really interested in learning more immediately I recommend aberration in the heartland of the real by Wendy S Painting.

TrueAnonPod

I'm glad you edited your comment. I think it's likely you felt shame. That's good---it's a human thing to feel. I think you should listen to this interview and reflect on what the make up of this mans soul and character must be like to undergo such intense pain and torture, the murder of his family members and a life on the run, and compare it to your own---that of a guy who read a twitter thread about OKC a few weeks ago and is now whining in the comments section because a podcast didn't listen to his brain waves. Then I think you will know shame more intimately than you will ever know another human being.
