Im late to this episode as I’ve been busy recently but I watched Once upon a Time in Hollywood before this, randomly, and I was thinking about how Charles Manson obvs was trained by the Feds with the connections with Haight Ashbury and I suspect strongly he was on one of these programs and then they covered it up in the trials to stop the truth coming out.

Vicky

this hurt my feelings

Iain

Third time going through this series and I still get chills every time. Showing my partner currently. Amazing stuff. Thanks for the work you 3 do, and endless love to Brace for sharing your story.

manbob

Shoutout memeanalysis/Chris Gabriel voicing the game leader, good friend of mine.

monique

not even 20 mins in and i can’t even imagine the days, the weeks, the seasons of people having to endure that treatment in the name of getting clean

Mr. Guyman

YOU'RE NOTHING! NO TALENT!

siegmeme

The intro segment is absolutely incredible, harrowing stuff.

meeemster

This needs a trigger warning. Seriously, like what the fuck.

That Guy

After all these years still the best into ever.

Jorge Jorgensen

It’s a podcast series about a notoriously violent and abusive cult… what did you expect?

meeemster

A trigger warning, obviously. Was I unclear? Not everyone is aware of the contents of a podcast or familiar with its subject matter ahead of time. That's literally why they listen to the podcast.

Jorge Jorgensen

I mean, you’ve made it to the third episode… You know what it’s about, dawg. The description says it’s about an abusive cult. Don’t be insincere

Jennifer

Haaa, there she is, Daytop! My alma matter. No more shaving of the heads when I was there .

marley

chris gabriel is genuinely incredible in this

K

Bizarro world group therapy that makes your mental health worse... Truly fucked... Was really well done and intense when they turn on you but actually lowkey felt better when they are attacking you because the suspension of disbelief starts lifting and you start to come out of it... 🔥 Radio play fr and the fact that the last ep mentioned that there was recordings of the Game at synanon made me hella convinced it was real audio till that switch up at the end 10/10 no notes

KG

It's hard for me to remember exactly what happened in our "therapy" sessions in wilderness and at CEDU - it's all a blur besides a few moments. Even though the beginning was just a re-enactment, it honestly triggered me a little bit. All of the staff at these programs felt justified in abusing and psychologically manipulating children on so many levels... it's hard to explain unless you experienced it and without sounding dramatic.

peter willcocks

Brace the butcher of bushwick belden returns

peter willcocks

do u guys like rick and morty thanks love dave

Karl Snakemoji

Fuck… Chomsky reached a new level with the sound design of this intro.

TangiePower

Genuinely stressful to listen to jeez

Mia

"what's your screen time like?" 💀

James Whale

Amazing holy shit . Wow. Felt real

QUARANTINE DREAM

ugh god, i will say i've actually been remembering things I forgot from rehab b/c of the series.

lolwuthappend

Skipped the whole game part. Was so cringe

TrueAnonPod

Thank you so much for your valuable input

Ryan

the opening was gut-wrenching. i could see how someone could become addicted to the "catharsis" of the game.

Mark Owen

Need to overlay that dialog on Robert Culp's group scenes from Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice.

Of course

Stressful, but unbelievably boring. Like high effort banality. Really the definition of hell. Is this what all cults are like?

Julio

Chris from Meme Analysis?? what a crossover

Siya

the story at the end is just horrific beyond words.

NobleStrings

The cold open made me feel physically sick.

Bud Light

Will actually believes his lines.

xaxasei

had to skip through the intro

Padraic C

Intro fucked me up

Andrew Irwin

Listened to the intro on my way to work, I do not feel good

Max Osterhaus

Amazing work! One of my favorite episodes you've done (and the series as a whole). Can tell Chomsky is putting in the work on production and music. Thanks!

Max Osterhaus

btw, I'd love for you guys to cover OM (orgasmic meditation), AKA OneTaste. They are definitely using some of the same techniques, but for sexually repressed people. I went to one of their into sessions in Oakland years ago just to see what it was and found it clear what psychological tricks they were using transparent, but at the same time I could see others getting totally taken in.

(Noah J)

just me or is anyone else not able to play/hear any audio?

Gurjot

Yeah, I am having the same problem

TrueAnonPod

Patreon bug -- working with them to fix ASAP. It should still be available via RSS

JC

It's crazy timing that this series released when it did, I just got my 3 month chip the other day. I find it very disturbing that Dederich used the guise of recovery to prey on addicts, what a sick joke. Just plain evil.

N0tagayman

Jesus Christ that intro was hard to listen to. I can't imagine going through something like that on a weekly basis. Has to completely destroy a person's confidence. Poor Brace :(

jack dulworth

The intro reminded me of my friends and I chillin with some beers

daniel

Why not a full list of credits?!?!

Tyler

About to use this into for my grind band

daniel

And I mean who voices who

Daniel Shuman

Intro is an average dinner with my extended family

N0tagayman

Can feel it destroying my brain just listening to a fake version

Aaron Christmas

I haven't finished the episode yet I can see how this type of "therapy" was attractive. Get through it at all costs, and if you drive someone to kill themselves that's just the cost of doing business. My family has trouble grappling with emotions and I can see how this would have been marketed to people like us.

Alberto Limon

Fuck you for telling me to wear headphones.

TrueAnonPod

Should be fixed now — you might have to do a hard refresh of the page.

meyer

What the hell was the vibe like in the group after playing this game

Lord Drewcifer

I will now think of children getting kidnapped and tortured every time I see a Sea-Doo for the rest of my life on this earth.

K H

Ayo Sammy seems cool if she wants to hang out after coffee. So cool that she went to school actually.

Dr. Ron Jambo

Yung Chomsky you're crazy, that sounds like English virginal music there at 18:00

YourBabysFather

How were they able to record my own internal monologue for that intron

Aaron L

Living w depression is like having the Game played in your head all the time. Big oof

itsjenjen

This episode fucking terrified me.

SF

The opening is fucking incredible, holy shit

Scott

Americans are weird as shit

CJ

Jesus fucking Christ

CJ

I mean amazing job but…fuck

Go'Thrak

Yung Chomsky, the synth intro to these episodes gives me goosebumps every time. Tremendous work.

Scott

“Me amber is wonderful as Maslow, in a role he was born to play”

Scott

Menaker lol

Scott

I can picture it

Max Gilles

intro was really powerful and added so much depth to the series. keep it up guys

Kacey Campbell

I still feel shaken up from listening to the intro while I was driving, I can't imagine having to endure that experience for real, especially for people with already fragile mental states. Incredible work.

Joshua Salerno

I understand that this entire series is possibly triggering but damn some suicide and rape trigger warnings would go a long way for some people. This was a hard one to listen to but a extremely powerful episode all the same. I’m glad you are able to tell your story Brace, through all the trama. It is an extremely valuable story that needs to be told.

The Dee's Knees

💔💔💔 This is genuinely horrendous, feeling absolutely gutted myself after this. You're really doing the lord's work

Felix Joly

Strange coincidence that Synanon was in its hayday around the same time as Charles Manson was attending the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics in the Bay Area - which had confirmed CIA ties. I wonder if Dedrich was a CIA asset? Great episode as always, this series is by far the most engaging yet

Aaron L

Good ol Jolly, who else? Lol

Jordan Thompson

perhaps put a trigger warning in the disc? its really heavy

Erin Sawden

Couldn’t stop myself from crying at the end. Angry and horrified at what Brace and all these poor people went through. Thank you for your hard work on this.

David Schuldt

Something went wrong, can't get it to play.

Josh Woods

Seems a little inappropriate to make a movie recommendation based off of this episode, but there was a recent [fictional] film called Resurrection that may be interesting to people who find abuses of power dynamics compelling.

kenton

For what it's worth THANK YOU I went to a rehab where they played The Game (called it Circle) really disturbed my parents when they visited and I harmed myself to escape to a psych ward several times. This series helped me understand I wasn't fucked up as much as Gatehouse Academy was fucked up (closed one year later due to fraud)

TrueAnonPod

There was a patreon bug earlier than broke the audio playback, but it was fixed. You might be seeing a cached copy of the page, try a hard refresh.

kenton

YO IS THAT MEMEANALYSIS voicing Synanist!? Bros this is the greatest crossover of all time. If they have MA on trueanon talking about Crowley, the occult, etc, PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN

Yup

Let's get some scripted Gourmand skits going

Char Kelly

Really appreciating this series. Where I live in the Massachusetts in lefty spaces there is a biiiiiiig culture of re evaluation counseling aka co counseling aka RC. So much of it is rooted in this shit (as well as some Scientology stuff) like the game, etc. Super interest to see all these webs weave together. Grateful that y’all are doing this work

Kompromatic

Internet comment sections/replies really are like a digital synanon game

Rusty

Christ that was intense, longest 15 minutes of my life

prolet1312

Holy shit dude, that was quite something

Bryan Welch

Had a feeling Rocky Mountain Academy was gonna pop up- have a buddy they went there. What he describes is horrific

The Cheerful Comrade

Wow I must've been really spaced our during that part. I look forward to more of these theatrics at the live show.

Evan Scott

opening is legit terrifying

Hannah Wacha

That intro made me viscerally upset yay

kenton

Y'all realize how crazy it is that a MKultra offshoot would be called The Monarch School

TrueAnonPod

it's not an MK offshoot--Synanon wasn't part of MK Ultra, it existed alongside it

Dean Watson

Holy shit this episode really sets a high bar for quality, innovation and storytelling. Fantastic work, really.

Claire Simon

Joe Apollonio omg my skater crush

Mads

It didn’t need to be that long though

RyzomeRyan

You three have done a really great job of researching, producing, and reporting this past series of episodes!

Marcus

My friend got sent to Dozier, luckily he survived.

rutjake

not yc dropping the sax solo from Lost Highway??

I am become reply guy

Brace, you are an incredible person, to have been through so much awful shit, beaten addiction, AND done so much with your life. You’re not much older than me but I look up to you.

j

Holy shit

Ben Frizzell

The radio play aspect was well written and really well executed. So well executed in fact that I did have a panic attack an hour and a half after listening (not a joke)

CactiFlowFlow

Anyone know if Sidney Gottlieb related to Scott Gottleib (Trump’s FDA Commissioner)? I figured I could find out with a quick Google—some people say Scott is Sidney’s grandson, but I can’t find a good source.

justdave

Coulda sworn it was from an abandoned sewer system 🥁 🥁

sgl

What a pull!

justdave

I've never heard an episode. I just get the vibes n shit from the comments

Sean

I love the era of high effort podcasting this was amazing

Joseph Belden

Riveting, can't stop listening no matter how painful. Great jib Brace and Liz

Norm_McDonald's

I'm jonesin for the next ep over here. Really amazing show you all have put together, bravo.

Chris

My mom talks to me like that. I think I should move out

Le Michel diplomatique

I grew up something like that and for brief period could get into acting like that. There’s a much better place out there.

Sam

These people are full of shit. I’ve seen her in real life and her tits are huge. Lying ass bullshitters.

Emily M

This is art

Chris

I know, it's just weird seeing so many people say it's hard to listen to when it didn't seem that bad to me cause I hear stuff like that

Lane Foxly

Man I smoked some weed and went on a walk right as I stared this episode and that was the most intense fucking walk. That intro was incredible I just lived that shit.

Max

Well, I didn’t expect to have the first 15 mins be so fucking intense for me. Five minutes in and I could feel the muscles in my throat and face getting tight and tightness in my chest. I had to skip that portion because it was too much. I’m sad that i completed the program, did all the insights, suffered the abuse. I was usually the eager one to preform the ‘work’ for the staff. Lots of wildly painful memories and horrible ideas about myself were born out of those insights. Crying while writing this but thank you again for this project because I’m not sure I would have ever gotten the closure i need without it. I think about the innocence insight frequently, what they did to us was horrible. You are correct in your assessment at the time that it was brainwashing and torture, I wish I had known enough about the world at the time to be able to identify it as such. I wish I had run away after my first home visit, as the later insights made the first few seem mild. The pinnacle - the final insight, was five days and particularly traumatizing. I know the scripts for them are available online somewhere, but honestly it was too intense for me to try to find or re visit.

Peter Annee

Most episodes of True Anon I listen to twice or more. This will not be one of those episodes. Well done, I’m traumatized into remembering every detail.

TrueAnonPod

I’m sure you can remember the feeling when you saw someone who despised you going up to the request box in Walden with a little slip of paper that has your name on it—probably the worst feeling in the world.Tbh probably not too huge a difference between completing Monarch and not finishing it; if you were PG 16 what year would that put you at

Tranq

This is the most amazing cold open I've ever listened to in any form of media. I was horrifically spellbound.

Max

Steve was my peer group leader so I was honestly more scared of him than anyone else at the school. Part of me is still scared of him / wants his approval in some sort of sick way. I was there January 2006- December 07

Max

I understand what you mean w the not a huge difference between finishing or not, but the with the way the school was structured with the older students being given power to enforce the ‘agreements’ some of my worst guilt and memories is from what I turned into during the final months. Makes me feel sick to think about

TrueAnonPod

The is imo the way these places are structured make the stuff kids do to each other whatever necessary for survival for each kid. I have some major guilt and major regrets about the time I was there. I live with it but I know that the things I did I had to do, which doesn’t make it much easier but it’s true. Everyone did what they had to to get through it

I am become reply guy

I listened to this during work yesterday. Reading through the comments I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one traumatized lol.

Philipp K

Not sure if it's the same issue, but after pausing for a while and coming back to it, the timer would show the podcast playing back, but no sound.

Max

True

Tom

This was terrifying. Well done!!

towerofmadel

I think I could listen to that first act over and over, like the way you can’t look away from a car crash. The acting and production was incredible!! Also it can’t be a coincidence that the title Synanist sounds like cynicist/sadist right…

12 o Clock in the Midnight

That opening was the probably the best intro to a podcast episode I've ever heard. You're hitting it out the park. Feel bad for Brace. Horrible stuff. Is there anyway to listen to that theme tune in full? Or a link to young chomskys music?

TrueAnonPod

soundcloud.com/yung-chomsky — the main theme is there now, more to come later

Jon Spiegler

This is why I hate the place “therapy” has taken in or pop culture/ discourse.

David Lundeen

I was working out while listening to the opening and I will say when they started going in on me the listener, I was immune to their barbs as I cranked out hang cleans. I would win "The Game" with my strategy where I just start doing push-ups and airsquats anytime they turn their attention to me.

dshamz_

Incredible episode. Disgusting, felt sick to my stomach listening to Brace at the end. Burn these motherfuckers down.

Jackson Lahey

Brace saying “I couldn’t put myself halfway in the mindset of someone who would do that to kids” made me immediately tear up. Hearing all you’ve been through and knowing how much care you have for others now is amazing. The mission of this podcast makes so much sense now

Tommy York

I so rarely feel fazed by anything but listening to the Game segment at the beginning of this episode is gut-wrenching. Sadism masquerading as "recovery," targeted at the vulnerable and suffering. (Do any Hazelden centers still do anything similar to this?)

Kevin Stanley

I'm commenting 10 minutes in, and it's already amazing and harrowing; then looking at the comments I'm wondering how fucked it gets.

Kevin Stanley

Update: it gets much more fucked very quickly.

Kevin Stanley

Update 2: legit wanna go lay down now.

Dove McKet

I hope Brace tells the story of his successful escape, even if it’s not completely cohesive to the Synanon narrative. I’d just really like to hear.

Zzz

Shit what an intro. Brace, I always love hearing from your personal experiences. Your growth mindset is admirable. Keep up the great work, guys 🌟

Zzz

If one were to ask oneself why this series matters, it’s because we find this insidious behavior extending into tentacles from capitalism/ evil.

Ian Krasnow

The intro was gut wrenching and shocking. The thing that’s frustrating to me is that it’s not an actual historical recording or even a dramatic reading of the transcript of an actual “game”. Similarly, the quotes from historical figures throughout the episodes are clearly voiced by Matt Christmas and Will Menaker. I wish you had some historical recordings to intersperse here and there to make it feel more authentic. As it is, knowing that the intro was just a contemporary dramatization of what a “game“ might be like is hurting my immersion. How do I know that it’s accurate if you include references to Jordan Peterson? I want to know what actually happened in a session with Chuck Dietrich That said, these episodes are really important and hit close to home for me as well. I’ve already recommended the first episode to a few people I would normally never recommend podcasts to.

helvetica.hottie

Brace, idk if y'all read these comments, but I respect the hell out of you for being so open about talking about your experience. One of my best friends was sent to a place in Georgia like this and she can't really talk much about it and I've known her for a decade. She and I became friends about 2 years after she got out. I knew it was bad, but if it was anything like your experience... I dunno. She recently went through a pretty bad mental breakdown and after hearing all this, it's pretty shocking to me that it took this long for it to happen. This shit is so fucked up.

Travis Jones

I was a male incest and sex abuse survivor in the late 80s, and the best the system could do was take me from my home, leaving my mother, brother and sister, the first two, my abusers, the latter, the enabler who covered with police and social services, free and rid of any burden, and put me in group therapy with predators and perpetrators. I was made to understand that because I was an 8 year old boy who was raped by his family for 5 years, that I was a rapist whether I'd committed a crime or not. I'm 43, I think, and I'm still broken by guilt, intrusive thoughts, and zero self-esteem. I still feel like the same worthless potential rapist I spent years confessing to being to actual young adult rapists. Until the state released me at 13band shortly thereafter my family put me on the street until my high school graduation, when I was sought out to financially support my mother and then dishonorably-discharged from the army brother, the only sense of my self I've ever had, was knowing I'm completely abandoned and have to rely on my feeble, disgusting self. After 3 years of supporting my abusers, my identity became that. No identity. A sponge for suffering. As a solitary addict, thankfully starting late in life, I see the appeal of organizations like Synanon, but curse disreputable and ill-conceived therapy practices with ever shredded fiber of my withered being. This is a brave and important series. I hope the right people hear it and find strength to overcome. It's too late for me, but I thank TrueAnon for all the good they put in the world.

zach miller

That intro really had my blood boiling on a visceral level, there are definitely times in my life that experience would have shoved me straight off the edge. How did these meetings not get fucking massacred by people who snapped on a regular basis? especially considering it was incredibly easy to get automatic weapons at the time? No wonder they had to run to the woods and start preying on kids.

Brian Rad

The actor who played Sammi is incredible. The rest of the dialogue was fine. Overall, the three of you are making my favorite and most informative content, and you work so hard. This show just gets better and better, almost better than the Adam Friedland show

Emma

Hadn't made the connection until you said it but you're so right re: the mission of the podcast. I feel like this is what's different about TA Vs a lot of other people interested in the Epstein stuff. It's that core of understanding of what it's like to be a vulnerable young person exploited by powerful adults. Liz doesn't share much but I would venture a guess she has had her own experiences in this area, because she comes at it with the same compassion and real care for victims that Brace does.

Emma

Yess so many other podcasts just descend into circle-jerk punditry when they get an audience but true anon would never

Emma

I think the actual children still being actively abused at troubled-teen facilities across the US is enough reason for it to matter

Robert Ditty

In answer to your question, I've been to a rehab center that uses the Hazelden literature and model (twice, actually). It wasn't actually a Hazelden facility, those are incredibly expensive. This was a rehab where most of the participants had state insurance. But if their use of the Hazelden program is any indication, then NO. There was nothing like this. We had group therapy once a day and it was very compassionate and normal for a therapy session. You had to agree to input before anyone could direct advice to you. Everyone was encouraged to be supportive. If anyone had insulted someone they would have been asked to leave. Confrontations of any type were rare and quickly diffused. I was thinking listening to this Synanon series how I was lucky I never wound up in a place like this. I think Synanon-style rehab had been pretty thoroughly discredited by the time I was an adult but I do know one person who went through the same thing as Brace when they were a kid. May have even been the same facility since it was in the Pacific Northwest. I met them in AA. They seem to be doing great now but I'm sure you never completely get over it.

Pearl

the incidental music man. been in my head all week

(Noah J)

decent so far but they've definitely covered better/more interesting content than this

Alex Kizuk

Jesus christ this intro is hard to listen to.

steve

This is a high service to humanity in my opinion. Thank all of you who put this together. Thank you.

yep

That intro was fucking blood boiling, I think you conveyed what was intended. Keep knocking it out of the park, the production on this series is great

steve

shut the fuck up.

(American spirit menthol

I talked to a guy once who believed he was being gang stalked, and when I asked if he thought that the things he thought were going on could possibly be the result of his drug use (We were talking because we were waiting for the same drug dealer), he explained he believed he was being targeted because he was addicted to meth, as the testimony of addicts is regarded as less reliable than that of even children. It's been said by a bunch of people that conspiracy theories invariably have a kernel of something indisputable, and it's hard to argue with his reasoning there. Gangstalking is real and it's so much worse than the tweakers could imagine

retrocalie

Don’t know how y’all got your hands on a recording of the voices in my head but holy shit. Bravo on conveying exactly what these sessions must feel like.

TrueAnonPod

Hazeldens pretty normal and I’ve been to rehabs that were run along the same line, where you kinda just sit there and do occasional shit like regular group therapy

Tommy York

Did some research and looks like Hazelden renounced confrontational therapy in 1985. An old sponsor did a similar camp to yours in Mexico, though, in the early 2000s, and said they did something Game-ish that they called "Seminar."

Daniel Szmulewicz

You're doing the Lord's work but with better production value. Special kudos to Brace for the coming of terms and openness to share in public. Thank you. ♥️

ty foster

finally signed up for the patreon to hear this series. it’s really great to see the show continue to evolve like this. congrats to all three of you. this is a very good and useful thing

sgl

You can hear about his experience in Episode 100: Brat Camp (which is a really good companion to this series)

markers

lol this is probably their most interesting series yet, definitely their best produced.

sum dum goy

What did I just listen to

A

I was so afraid that the game reenactment was just gonna be this whole episode

Junior Carmichael

This series pulls no punches. I had to put the episode down for a few days before continuing.

✮BRAIN SLURRY✮

I admire Brace for revisiting such a vulnerable place in his life. He's a tough mf and a razor sharp wit, which I'm sure helped him survive the cascades of abuse and neglect he's endured. All this unjust and unneccessary pain, it feeds a deep spiritual disease in society. The only way to fight it is to talk about it first. Respect, love, blessings to y'all for doing this.

Frankie

That would have been WILD

Starry Pr1nce

I can see how damaged and insecure ppl could get sucked in to this abusive type of shit, god damn its annoying as fk. I could stay up for 2 days straight and easily deal with all these attacks if i had to. The only one who can deprogram me is my wife.

TrueAnonPod

You have no idea how close that came to being true lol

Nathaniel Chesterton

During this episode, I kept thinking about the conversations about social media that recur on TrueAnon. "The Game" is a space in which you hurl insults and berate fellow participants in order to prove yourself to the program director or some other authority. Theoretically, it's therapeutic space, but in reality it leaves each individual feeling drained, worse than before. In the guise of creating a digital place for conversations or connection, social media has actually drained us of these things, much like Synanon drained participants of the health it promised. The rhizome is a good analogy for understanding the link between the two--it's not that one directly caused the other, but there is a connection. I'm sure there are many other links.

Sean Ghostparty

really bad choice to start the episode the way you did. i get you want to try something new, but the po-faced true crime podcast style of this series just isn't something in your wheelhouse. fair enough; you didn't know that when you started. but the beginning of this episode crossed a line and felt deeply exploitative. grim.

Julian

Stellar series. I unnecessarily attended a Daytop day school in Rockland County, NY around ‘97 then escaped from an even less necessary residential facility of theirs in the Hudson Valley somewhere. My councilor was a pretty cool old LES junkie who’d play the guitar with his false teeth, the real ones having all been kicked out.

Don Workman

I see alot. Of snowflake in the comments…saying this is so hard 2 hear. Well they must never have seen. Clint Eastwood. Grand Turismo. It shows sometime love of 2 friends come from. Insults and it’s actually love deep down.

Kurt Brendel

Telling someone in a vulnerable state who just opened up to a group that their dead baby would think they're a failure is pretty appalling behavior. It doesn't resemble the ribbing and ethnic slurs in gran torino* at all as far as I can see. Bizarre

frybreadandjam

Devastating and powerful. Thank you for the courage in writing and producing this series especially when it’s so personal and vulnerable. The organised, mass torture of children…so much brutality.

Alex Kizuk

Finally making it to the end of this episode. Hearing about what Syndey Cohen and others did makes me ashamed to have studied psychology. Death to the United States, the greatest source of evil and corruption the world has ever known.

Alex Kizuk

Literally making excuses for abuse based on a fictional character acted by a right wing fascist. I think you're listening to the wrong show if that's the type of person you relate to....

Don Workman

Pretty sad 2 see. Hater and loser attacking the country where Cat Stevens and many other greats are from. I think open road freedom of USA makes it the greatest. Sure u have problem…but u can also solve them with tools such as Smith and Weston.. THEY don’t allow that in every country…

QUARANTINE DREAM

ok - you're a beautiful, lovely person. don't change a thing!

darjeeling

I've been trying to get through it since this ep came out but I'm ready to give up, I think unfortunately I am too triggered by the acting to ingest it - it's very good acting - is there a timestamp I can forward to past the reenactments?

darjeeling

Wait nvm I was literally 1 min away from being through it! for anyone in the future, 17:45 is the conclusion

brody crouse

ya no holy shit i can’t believe brace and so many others have gone through this and came out the other side

brody crouse

holy fuckign shit that intro in the sammy section is insane

Nk Pdlla

Thanks. I felt the same. It was too much for me

darjeeling

Yeah, many of the things said were almost identical to my lived experience and at times it became difficult to distinguish those experiences from reality when listening. At first I was bummed out that I couldn't enjoy the episode but I was happy to learn that there was discussion afterwards, this series is deeply personal and important to me ♥️

Resn

double penetration workman has some weird opinions huh yall

Joshua Davidson

The Sammy intro is insane. Love the pod btw

Shep

This shit is fucking brutal. It enrages me.

Butcher Paper

This is so funny. What are you doing here, man?

Emma

This comment and the reply are both deranged but also not wrong love it

Hunbun

The same thing happened to me. I was nearly through it and had to shut it off because I realized I was shutting down.

Rubicon Crossing Guard

Late to commenting about this but Chomsky, fantastic work with the stereo work on the opening as so many others have commented. Fantastic, anxiety inducing immersion.

CJ

Awful. I cried tears at the end part listening to you speak on these horrors that have been inflicted on children (the older I get the younger I realise teenagers really are, if that makes sense...) We had a program in the UK called "Brat Camp", on Channel 4 in the 2000s, unbelievable it was supposed to be entertainment as it almost certainly links to these awful cunts. Massive respect to Brace for working through this and trying to make sense of it. Powerful, brave, beautiful people of TrueAnon, thank you.

Me

Jesus Christ. Beautiful series, guys. Sorry for Brace and anyone else who has had endure one of these fucking programs.

Nic Bodiford

Thank you for sharing your story, Brace. I know this isn’t easy.

The whole purpose of the intro to this episode was to demonstrate how horrible a game actually is. It's meant to be exploitative and grim, but these are actors and actresses lol

i read poisoner in chief last year and filled out sidney gottlieb's wikipedia as much as i could and it's still pretty bare. he did SO many horrible things but most of it will never be known; the little we do know is spine chilling. the last few chapters of the book do a great job connecting these experiments to torture methods used today, so i'm really glad you guys touched on that. the series wormwood on netflix is also a great peek into this story
