Gonna be that guy about a couple things that were said. The (mineral) oil used in transformers is quite different from the oil/petroleum products some generation facilities use. The oil in the transformers is used to cool the magnetic core, not to generate electricity. The transformers don’t have “hey I’m being shot at” alarms, there’s various sensors and probes that measure temperatures and oil levels that indicate when there’s a problem. Shooting the radiator fins to leak oil will cause these alarms to go off and eventually the grid operators or an automated protection scheme will de-energize the transformer — hopefully. If not, search YouTube for large transformer fires. Large power transformers already had a monster lead time (6-24 months if my bad memory serves) before Covid and now it’s even crazier. They also mostly come from Europe or Asia.
