I can't remember exactly what year this was, but definitely second-term Obama. He gave me a long rehearsed-seeming spiel about the Evils of the Russian State in which he drew no distinction at all between Putin and any Soviet, really, because (paraphrasing) "Putin and the communists both want the same thing: absolute power." Because the whole thing was dumb and weird, I wanted to see what else he might say, so I asked him, "As a dissident Russian, what would be the number one thing you'd want from the United States?" And he, not exactly a fluent public speaker, shot back with zero hesitation, "A new Ronald Reagan!"

Also he believes that Jesus Christ was real, but was born somewhere around what you and I would call 1400 A.D., and that he was (iirc) an ethnic Slav in Turkey or something. He also believes that nearly all major historical events have taken place, until very recently, in about 4 cities, and that every single pre-modern chronicler and historian who ever described any place was describing one of those 4 places. His rationale: "Statistically, it's obvious."

i answered an open call from a washington post reporter who wanted to talk to food service workers about pandemic perks, and even with something as corny as that they made me sound like an absolute dumbass. they misquoted me, took me out of context, cherry-picked some of the, let’s say, “broader” stuff that i said. journalists can all eat shit!
