So in the scene where they acknowledge how much Fern has grown, the reason Frieren is talking to herself is because she's legit wondering why Fern has larger breasts lmao

Omg I just know by rewatching with you realized that frieren collected a spell to make grapes go from sweet to sour(Your EP2 here 16:48) and Eisen´s favourite food is grapes "the more sour the better" (9:50) I love that so much

I just realized who Himmel's VA is!! It's such a different character I didn't notice until that scene where he yells at the kid for flipping Frieren's skirt, but that's Bakugo! Himmel's voice is so gentle... that's jarring, lol

I'm looking forward to your reactions to Frieren. Sometimes, just hearing the OP/ED gets me choked up as I think about the series. In this episode, I noticed something that I had missed before. Eisen (dwarf) says his favorite is sour grapes. In the second episode, Fern mentioned a spell that they got for turning sweet grapes into sour ones. So that suggests there is an additional reason Frieren looks for certain spells. Especially for removing rust from bronze statues, when we know she's probably going to come across a lot of statues of the party.

The fact that Qual was able to suddenly use the current defensive magic, very shortly upon just hearing about it, is nuts scary. Good thing he was taken out!!! While battles aren't the main focus, exactly, of the story, they're totally animated 120% PLUS ULTRA hahahaha! The OST for the whole series still just... hits different, too. <3

I love that there's a technology-magic parallel being made here. Zoltraak and the Defense spell that developed as a result of it, becoming the most foundational spells in the science of magic 80 years later. Also props to Qual for being so smart and figuring out the weakness of the defense spell after just seeing it once. It's a shame he was evil.

The passage of time really is a fascinating thing. 80 years ago, Qual was so powerful that Himmel and his party weren't able to defeat him, so Frieren had to seal him away. "A mere 80 years" later, and Zoltraak is now just the common offensive spell of this era due to the extensive research done on it and Qual is taken out by his own spell in the blink of an eye! Something very poetic about that. Frieren definitely knows more about humans than even she realizes. She knew it was Fern's birthday while Fern herself forgot about it lol.
