YESS!! I need more frieren, something abt this show is very cathartic

Bob

Dude this is gonna be one emotionl ride lol

Rav

It might be fun (in the heartbreaking in a good way sort for some of them) to look up what the names in Frieren mean in German. It's not too spoilery because its just one word and can give great insights about the characters.

Joshua Gonzales

This show needs to be studied on how it affects emitions

Eduardo Gallegos

The “ its only been two episodes and im crying again “ is a cannon event lol

Jake Thompson

Magic is the medium that allows them to bring joy and happiness to the people they care about, and I think that's beautiful.

Plushxi

We cry every episode 🥹

Andy Hinton

We told you to have tissues ready lol. Frieren honestly is in a league of its own when it comes to tugging at your heart it's both heart crushing but also warming at the same time.

Sieg D. Fried

You could translate the names from German to English to get an extra layer of appreciation

Chris Jarrett

Yep, buy another pallet of tissues, this show is brutal (ly great).

Melley Cat

I think I cried each ep til about ep 6, but even then, well. It still happened xD I like to think of the series as "Frieren Beyond Journey's Endless Tears" LMAO xD

Binglemeister

I think I'm more emotional the second time through. I didn't really know the characters the first viewing, but with everything I know now, each scene is even more beautiful/sad

Have you never heard the name Fern before? It's a fairly common girl's name in the UK. I can think of 3 famous Ferns still in UK entertainment industry off the top of my head. Don't you have the name in your country? There's no reason you should have the name but it just seems strange lol. I'm not mocking you at all. It's just so odd to me that you wouldn't know it. It's like you're saying, "Peter? That's his name? Will you let me know if I'm saying that right, guys? Peter?" It's just funny to hear it, y'know?

Zachary Mullins

GREAT call with the use of the word ‘flashy’

Deedee

@7:37 she didn’t Fern with her because in ep 1 she stated that having an apprentice with her would get in her way and that she would not feel comfortable leading Fern to her death

Matthew

Sound out of sync for anyone else?

axilir21

As a Canadian, the only Fern I know is the plant. I have never heard anyone called Fern in my life so it's just a UK thing.

Holy Arathi

There’s this story I heard. A man in Korean, at a subway stop witnessed a man hold up a woman at knife point to steal her things. He interjects, takes the man’s knife from him and holds him to the ground long enough to allow security to take him off. When the police asked him why he put himself in danger like that the man relied,”It’s what Himmel the Hero would’ve done.” Idk if it’s true or not but it makes me want to be like Himmel.

EHelström

It was in Taiwan, the man's name is Hsu Rui-hsian.

Ryuuji Gremory

From German perspective it's way weirder as Fern is simply a normal word meaning far (away) and no one would use it as a name (as is the case with most names in the series).

Michael E. Ganzermiller

Don't know Himmel as a character but every human can relate to loss and imagine living so long that everyone you ever love dies while you continue to live. It's got to be so hard

MASkeptic

Yes. That's the show. Beautiful animation and music and you cry every other time Himmel is on screen.

Ilsuk Yang

In episode 1, Frieren said that she didn't know anything about Himmel. This episode definitely contradicts that. Without knowing it, she picked up on a lot of little things about him in that decade they adventured together. Those montages are always beautiful. Just a score and beautiful visuals telling a story without words

Eisen: Iron Heiter: Cheerful Himmel: Heaven Frieren: Freeze Flamme: Flame

CS

"Because they killed him in the first episode. Is this going to happen every single episode? Because it's too painful." This show's ability to encapsulate grief is truly phenomenal. Because that's what it is. It's just the constant bittersweet remembrance of someone you will never get to see again, and you see them in everything. Making the viewer fall in love with Himmel retroactively after his death based on these memories that Frieren has is such a brilliant way to convey that.

Song

i also heard story (forgot where), there is something like anime/cosplay event in a mall, and then there is a fire happening, everybody panicking and waiting for an official to come, but there is this one guy cosplaying as Himmel, he found a fire extinguisher and put out that fire himself. in interviewed why he did it and why he wasn't afraid, his answer is "because that's what Himmel the hero would've don" when the costume makes the the man. what a legend!
