FMAB OPENING REACTION

One thing I always think about these days is how long it took for Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood to finally be overtaken on myanimelist. Frieren being the one to do it, I could think of no other series better suited to do it! To that end, I'd say that's a good indicator for how strong the staying power has been for the series. Also, literally, every OP and ED is a banger, and among my favourites of all time. Each and every one! They fit the vibe of each cour perfectly, and I cannot wait to see you react to them as we go. Heck, I'd say for FMAB, reactions to the OP & ED are nearly as important as the episodes themselves.

I love this song. YUI's voice is so raw and unique, she's amazing! Also damn I've never really paid attention to the lyrics until now... they hit hard

lmaolmfao

The singer is YUI, there was a time when if you think about anime song, you think of YUI, she also sang Rolling Star, one of Bleach's opening.

lmaolmfao

Also "Life", which is also one of Bleach ED

Juanis

Holy full body chills I got from listening to this song that I haven't in years! Now I'll have it on repeat for the next several weeks lol

Margot

This opening is called "Again" and sung by Yui. This manga by Hiromu Arakawa ("Silver spoon" by her is worth checking too) is one of my favourite story ever (across all medias and books I've read in my life). I listen to the OSTs of both versions of the anime to this day and the lyrics and visuals are fantastic for openings&endings. One thing that I would recommend (you can do that on your own time if you want) is to rewatch all the openings back to back once you finishes the anime. I did that myself and well...it was worth it !

bluecinnamoon

maybe you could listen to the other OPs when they come up without watching them? i feel like all the songs are great and hold so much emotion. To me, they feel integral to watching this show and it'd be a shame if you didn't get to hear them all that much

Max

Why aren’t you listening to the openings without looking whilst watching the episodes? You do that with black clover. It’s a big part of the experience to hear this song before every episode of part 1

PhatFlex

I'm glad you pointed that out. I was just about to say, that this reminds me so much of Bleach, and now I know why.

Josh Potter

She does listen to the op and eds, she just doesn't watch them until she gets the a okay from her mods to be spoiler free. She is just saying she doesn't wait until the end of the show to see all of them like some reactors may do. :)

makima

Yui the queen! she also sang bleach op 5 and ed 5

Edurlix

YUI was the goat of those old days

bluecinnamoon

I know she does this for other shows, but I don't think she has for fmab so far? which is a shame

Paweł Kapusta

Every single Opening for FMAB is absolute banger

Nero

Absolute banger.

AttackRunRepeat

Hiromu Arakawa also is the mangaka for the currently running anime Daemons of The Shadow Realm. I've only watched part of it so far but what I saw was pretty good.

Thomas Yang

This opening and the first Bleach ED (Life is Like a Boat by Rie Fu) is what really got me into Japanese music in general.

Buki

YUI was once the goated voice in JPOP and anime. Her songs would speak to the younger generations indicating hope and breathing life to ideas of pushing past limits and ideals of how one should be in society.

Maxter of puppets

It’s really cool to see that this show still stands the test of time, this means so much to me and how I started to get into anime. I know a show is good when it makes me feel the way FMAB made me feel when I was a kid

CuttyFlam

It is definitely a shame. This will be the first and last time she experiences it :/

MURDoctrine

The crazy thing also is that Frieren is the only anime to date to make question if FMA:Brotherhood is still my favorite anime.

CuttyFlam

She just said it’s her first time listening to it.

Drift3r

This opening is such a banger. One of the best opening songs of an anime IMHO.

Wyatt Fields

I never realized how much was spoiled in this opening. Lol

Nathan

Fyi OP 2 stops having a spoiler after episode 22 even though it switches to OP 3 on episode 27. So if you want, you could watch 4 episodes with the 2nd OP while it actually is the 'current' OP. Either way I still recommend watching the 1st OP til you switch just so you don't miss out on getting a feel for such a great opening.

Rachel Mae

This is such an iconic OP for me

D.Pirate.K

This opening, the visuals and the music, was, is and always will be one of the most iconic openings in all of anime in general. The visuals and music/lyrics match to well with the story. Absolutely iconic, I wouldn't have minded if you listened to it another 2 or 3 more ttimes, its so so good❤️❤️💯💯🔥

Dale Cooper

Sub or dub is it's own thing but the OP and ED are bangers so at least there is that for either group.

kostas

One of the best anime openings of all time imo <3

MARQUEE

I’m glad you finally listened to it! I do however feel if you wait to listen to the opening until after an arc, you may lose out on some hype moments when the opening music kicks in during an episode. Not just FMAB but any anime really.

Mike Q

Iconic opening!

MESHA

This song after many ops is still my fav

Joshua Rogers

I watched anime before like Pokemon, Digimon, Dragon Ball, and other common anime within America back in the 2010s, but FMAB was the anime that launched me into watching anime, if that makes sense. And this song, "Again" by Yui, was the song that really opened my eyes to Japanese music. The other anime I had watched in dub all had english openings as well, and even though I watched this dubbed, the song was still Japanese.

Андрей Лыков

I would recommend, to anyone, to try to ignore the 60fps interpolated anime clips, cuz, in anime in particular, the framerate is a part of animators toolkit, they hold the pictures for different number of frames to achieve various effects, to convey weight, speed, or just for its own sake even! And interpolation just smoothes over those nuances by, based on some algorithm, drawing new image each frame

Sancturillore -- Élie Simard-Wallot

I recommend also rewatching all of thr openings back to back once you've finished watching the full series. There are a lot of foreshadowing details that are only meaningful if you know what happens later on, so it really enhances the opening when watched after finishing the series.
