You saw the scene 🫪........

LondoBell93

It's moments like this that validate why we have the school life component in a show like this. You need to see the impact on innocents.

NOT THE TABLE

Ian2Rodz

Poor table kun, on a serious note this episode is where lelouch will think back to kiriharas quote “ are you walking the path of blood”

IAMONE

Table Kun has never been the same again after this encounter

Dolanator9

The large number of scenes is not meant to confuse. Each scene is meant to inform another that comes later. They’re little clues so that if you really pay attention you might be able to predict what comes next, and if you didn’t predict it you still have an idea of how things got there later on.

Jonathan Solis

you were right about the table scene, she was watching some news about princess Euphy.

Dolanator9

Yeeeah, uhhh, that is indeed Nina x Table-kun. And she’s looking at a certain royal in the magazine at the same time.

Matthew

This is one of my favorite animes that I can watch a lot of it in one sitting

kyllian

15:00 the way you are disturbed by what just happened is so funnyyy!!

DiES3L

Everybody talking about the table when Shirley is breaking. Poor girl.

Alain Orozco

It’s C-Two. The subtitle is C.C. But it’s always been C-Two in Japanese and English dub. And yes it was a bit of 🫘 fun

Paweł Wiśniewski

Lulu planned it and Kallen pressed the trigger. Lulu even jokingly talked to himself about talking the explosion over with a teacher or Nina to better calculate the effect of it, but he didn't care about it enough to do it. i wonder if he cares now. I believe her father was the man we seen in the city below the mountain, the one person going against the direction of the evacuation.

Paweł Wiśniewski

i agree the show jumps a bit too much, but i vastly prefer this pacing over pretty much any other shonen.

I'm glad you inferred that shirley's dad died as a casualty of the landslide... since lelouch overdid it by his own admission last time, what's ironically sad actually imo is at the moment it happened he was gloating that his plan was working better than expected... not even taking into account the possibility of that producing unintentional casualties... and if you're wondering, some supplemental material apparently mentions that shirley's father was one of the researchers working on the 'code-r' project... also since everyone's talking about it, I gotta admit I find the nina table scene to be horrific personally... and I tend to skip it on rewatches/reactions lmao and lastly, the quick cuts imo are the show's way of 'show don't tell', and as someone else mentioned it's a way for them to set up later stuff (for example nina's case), or to lowkey inform the viewer of some actions that come into play later in the episode (for example lelouch using his geass on kirihara's driver and to use that as a means to go through his 'twelve suspects' list which is how he and C.C knew who the person/leader behind the veil was, and to ensure that the driver won't do anything to blow up C.C's cover as his stand in before it's meant to happen).

Honestly, the multiple random short scenes are understandably jarring and probably hasn’t aged well compared to how modern animes are made and told, but almost all short random scene are really meant to be understood as a whole eventually. Because there are so many random mini factions/side character within Code Geass (Black Knights, Royalty, School, Nina, Shirley, Suzaku, etc), they do try to put in as many mini scenes as they can to slowly build up each mini factions and characters. They also cut scenes quickly very often for a more impactful reveal later in the episode or future episodes. Having rewatch this with you, these mini scenes really do grow to have secondary meaning and foreshadowing that make the jarring cuts feel important. I understand it’s annoying but just know that most small scenes pay off one way or another, even the memed Nina table-kun scene has meaning to it. Like you said, it’s like a mini chess game. The mini scenes all comes to gather in the end to form a great story.

Xev

It doesn't jump around too much. It's not meant to be 100% understood in one viewing. You're supposed to go back and catch the bits things you missed once you know the context of certain scenes/foreshadowing

Paweł Wiśniewski

i genuinely think it's not that hard to catch nearly all of it in one viewing. I just agree that the editing can be a bit jarring when the scenes jump that fast. I wouldn't have it any other way tho. I still prefer this over something like black clover where i have to skip 80% of the episode to not go insane from boredom.

Paweł Kapusta

Flexie, that guy on the roof with weird glasses and silver hair kind of missed your attention ^^

BrokeMillennial

Those pesky horny teenagers ruining quality tables...

BrokeMillennial

Are you embarking on the path of blood? Shirley's dad dies from Lelouch's actions. Well no turning back now...

Shade_Flower

She's scrubbing the floor... iykyk

Pedro Hernández

The Poor Shirley Episode 😭😭😭. And Nina is loca loca

Zutur

guys, flexie its too pure to be exposed to nina's behavior

Zutur

you do realize there was no mention of the name of the project yet, right? as for everything else its great.

Joshua Sadovnik

Ladies and gentlemen. We made it to Table Kun XD. Poor Flexie getting the full CG experience.

m li

there was tho, literally last episode or the one before it, it was specifically mentioned when bartley was talking to the researchers and informing them of the disbandment.

Gabodee .

Shirley deserved better man.

Joshua Sadovnik

And is kind of crazy the whiplash between the two scenes. The final scene with Shirley is imo the most impactful scene of the series and to Lelouch by this point in the story; and is kind of lost in the shuffle in the craziness of the table scene hahaha

jinsinca

everyone saying table kun this, shirley that (all valid), but what about nunally feeling like her brother is leaving her/her past traumas when she is his raison d'etre

Nero

Listen. I love this show. Ive seen it 20 times. I've introduced so many people to Code Geass. And to this day, I can't explain the f*cking table and why we had to witness that. Just do what we all do. Look in the mirror, Geass yourself into forgetting it. Its better that way. Something to remember in the background is that the reason that Japan is so important to Britannia is that the fictional resource Sakuradite is mostly found there. I think they said 90%. Sakuradite is used for Knightmare frame production so its super important to the military. Mt. Fuji that we saw was literally being strip mined, which is just one more thing that Britannia takes from them.

Cinders

You are about 1/4 of the way through the series and I can say you are already easily my favorite reactor to it; Love that you watch it like you do other shows: pausing, rewinding, really taking in the story that the creators meant for you. There is no wasted frames, no wasted scenes, no wasted lines in Code Geass; Yes.... even Table-kun scene has a purpose.... lol

Cinders

It has it's purpose for further establishing Nina's.... mental state about someone.... lol. Could they have chosen many other things to show that? Yes. Would it become eternally referenced decades later? no xD

Cinders

Side Note: C.C. is in fact pronounced "C2" in both English and Japanese so that fits better than saying "C.C."; also the biggest reason people pushed Dub (not just because it's GOATED Voice Acting Cast) is that most of watched it in English, it was shown in English in America, and a few other countries; and canonically in universe everyone is speaking English in 95% of the scenes you see (it is the Holy Britannian Empire who's official language is English)

Alex Hencher

The guy working on sus experiments for Britannia?

Alex Hencher

I misread Radiant Wave Surger as Radiant Wave Sugar until the beginning of season 2. And I always just assumed it was a weird anime name until I read it somewhere else and the embarrassment came home to roost.

Javicho

This episode is really heart broking with Shirley voice actor and the situation :(

danchero

For real. Table scene was peak!!

danchero

When you make out with a girl in the rain after you realize you killed her dad

MustaneerOp

This was Lulu's first big mistake

MustaneerOp

Villetta got the photo of Lelouch from Shirley's wallet. Shirley keeps his photo with her

Yami

what about calling her what japanese people call her instead of english version??

Swag-Kun

There is no table scene on episode 12, what yall talking about

Nero

lol it was definitely memorable.

keef wellington

I absolutely forgot table kun was this episiode

JoyBoy69

i hate the character and i hate the table scene like wtf
