Think about what Code Geass fans had to endure with that cliffhanger, having to wait for Season 2 for almost nine months. Since its an anime only during that roughly nine-month break between seasons, the plot of R2 remained an original mystery to everyone because there was no original source materials to spoil it 😶

Double upload? Oh hell ya. But yes if you were watching Code Geass many had no idea if there would even be a season 2, one of the worst blue-balls in all of anime. The ending so good especially if you ever come back for a re-watch the line from Suzaku "I know you, you'll betray the world just like its betrayed you" speaks so well to Lelouche's character and his fall from grace these last few episodes is just hammer home again and again. Ugh its so good. Edit - Also yes please start Season 2 right away. XD

Glad to see you enjoying Code Geass. My all time favorite anime are Code Geass and Hunter x Hunter. That being said, hope you eventually cover Hunter x Hunter. It is just as good :)

I love all the little details you pick up on, and yes, they all do play a part in the season to come. There is a lot of depth in the writing, and it's very dramatic just like it's animation. But they put a lot of little details in that can be easily missed, and it ALL comes together.

Ending season 1 on a cliff hanger is one of the ballsiest moves of all time. I always thought they did it well, but there are some who hate the ending to season 1.

Its an example of they knew exactly what the end was before they started, and literally everything is a carefully arranged sequence of events to lead to that point.

Its crazy that this show, and all the insane events within it, basically boils down to a boy who wants to know what happened to his mom, and really just wants a better life for his disabled sister. Sounds so inspirational until you add the death, and war, and rebellion to it...

a really interesting detail I still occasionally think about and to this day I'm unsure what to exactly make of it... is how lelouch was still trying to keep up his aloof and unaffected act... my best guess as to why he kept that act up is because he always rationalizes his actions as the ends justifying the means, and probably views revisiting his past actions and how/why they happened is probably just focusing on the means, which he tries to avoid as much as possible. it's also fascinating that what broke him was essentially suzaku, someone he had faith in and trusted, pretty much repeating the same thing his father did to him 10 years ago and basically telling lelouch to his face that his existence is not needed in this world (and it's really sad that lelouch probably had faith in his father and trusted him at that time too...)

Since you like the character designs so much you should check out CLAMP. They are a group of female mangaka that designed the characters of Code Geass. Her most famous work is Cardcaptor Sakura, which I highly recommend you watch, you would love it.

The cliffhanger is here! It's wild to think I first watched this like 16 years ago, during the summer before my senior year of high school. I spent the next how ever many months until S2 started airing annoying all my friends by theorizing about the result of that final scene. XD Can't wait to see what you think of S2! Has some of my favorite music/songs and some great new OPs/EDs. And of course seeing your reaction to the end of S2 will be very interesting once we get there. More than worth increasing my Patreon membership when I saw you would be watching this. <3

(R1 released in 2006, R2 in 2008) 32:39 i still believe Arcane S1 ending was inspired by this one x: 32:57 nope, what Suzaku said is even worse, he says Lulu was a mistake, he should have never been from the beginning. not that he is not good anymore, but that his existence is a mistake... QAQ FU SUZAKU! T_T my poor Lulu 34:24 her shock comes less from "ah its my classmate" and more from the realization (or conviction) "ah he just USED us", this is why i also dont like Karen, she is too emotional for me, like what does it change? its still the same thing, he had no problem following him so far, but now that she knows his face, he feels like she is a victim for some reason D: 37:45 you will get answers, u actually already got SOME answers in s1, if you had paused to read documents and screens shown - unlike other anime, all the documents and text etc is NOT just gibberish, they are actually relevant and mean something - granted not everyone can understand the research documents, as it goes into real life psychology theories and stuff
