I think what grams and the sisters wanted to happen was to have Maomao describe the sort of guy she likes and then the picture ends up looking like Jinshi. But I think Maomao, who wanted no part in this endeavor, actually lied and told them the exact opposite of what she likes, and it ended up being a picture of the quack doctor, which was hella funny. And I think that Pairin knew she had lied, which is why she glanced back with a disappointed look on her face when they left.

My take on Grams, Pairin and Joka. They obviously care for Maomao very much probably know her better that she knows herself (after all, they raise her). They know that she cares a lot for Jinshi, maybe even in love with him and they surely belove that she is denying her own feelings, something that in the long run can only hurt her. So that explains not only the scene but Grams anger, Pairin dissapointment (especially after episode 2's admonition) and why Joka decided to have a little chat with Maomao. Maomao, of course, is still denying the obvious. Joka's (and Flexie's!) argument is on point though. Maomao is tryig to net get involvedin the policts of the Kingdom.

12:15 Maomao already has that knowledge. She was asking Suirei about the resurrection medicine and discussing ingredients with Suirei when she was kidnapped. As Shisui needed her to revive the kids, they would have been certain to give her the formula so she could work with the side effects. Maomao hasn't tested it on herself because she already knows what it does. If she discovers something that might be used to eliminate or reduce the side effects, she might then test it on herself.

The silvery color of the liquid that the White Lady had, and the way it moved on the plate, makes me think it is mercury. Also known as quicksilver. Which is odd because it is a highly toxic substance.💀

I’m glad we got to see more of Joka. She took a back seat to Meimei and Pairin in the last two seasons so it’s nice to see what she’s like. She definitely seems like a super intelligent character

Maomao was basically like, "Here comes the airplane" with Jinshi 🤣🤣🤣 Also, her wondering how people could watch the same show more than once had me thinking about how many times I've watched One Piece and Friends lol

I really like the locust plague as a natural transition between seasons since it give us an excuse to remember our favorite bug nerd Shisui <3 She is still present on the story, even in the OST you can hear the notes of the shi clan. It feels like the show is giving us space to let her go slowly.

GIRL you clocked the book was in the clinic before MaoMao!! saying these smart women, girl you are very smart yourself 😉🤩 , and yeah i didn't think much of what maomao did as well, because in this time and age that's the only way for those girls to get out of their situation because even if they stayed with the father, he will eventually sell them or make them streetwalkers himself , so like you said it's a blessing in disguise, at least in the brothel they have a chance of survival they could even get a higher officer buying them out of the brothel in the future who knows, but of course i know that's not possible but it could happen nonetheless you never know!!! Also Maomao and Jinshi here are so empress and emperor coded low key, they work so well together !! Jinshi wanting Maomao to feed him is soooo cute and endearing , he really craves her attention it's so funny 😂 and YES MAOMAO HE IS YOUR BABY SO FEED HIM PLEASE 😌❤️‍🔥😍!!! And yeah i think that granny's plan was to see if Maomao will realize her feelings if she described her ideal man and it turned out to be Jinshi in the picture, the granny then will have a winning deal, but her plan failed 😂 i actually read somewhere that this part was an inside joke from the author herself, that they asked her in one of her interviews which character she prefers and she said that the Quack doctor is her favorite but i'm not sure if this accurate or not 🤣

By the way Flexie the parts you were confused about during the last part of the EP are better explained in the LN, in my opinion, maomao was trying to prank Jinshi, that's why she did that, but she was going to back out if he appeared just slightly uncomfortable she just didn't count on the fact that he would do it, and Yes he gave her an intense stare in the LN before he took a bite of the grasshopper, so he only ate it because she is the one feeding him, and the part where you got confused on where did Jinshi and Gaoshun go, is because they simply left after the feeding chaos 😂 , and maomao was getting ready to leave afterward as well before the drawing sequence happened, also the look Pairin gave maomao was of disappointment, it's such a shame this part got confusing and awkward a little bit but it was better explained in the LN

if i recall my chemistry and physics correctly, you can actually transform mercury to gold if it's radioactive and degrades and becomes a stable form of gold or SOMETHING. So this is actually what I assumed when i saw the liquid metal form that looked like Mercury to me too. Which can explain potential "magic tricks" where she might have made some mercury (locked somewhere, etc, become "gold" with some chemistry or forced degradation) to make "gold" and that made her look like she's a magical alchemist or something, when it's just science.

I miss Sishui/loulan so much. I know it's probably not possible, but what I would give for the show to give her a cameo somewhere, or a spinoff of what she did after crossing the sea, maybe even see cameos of familiar faces from this show in her spin off show or movie... I think a lot of the Apothecary Diaries people who like Maomao actually would watch a show where Shisui/Loulan/Tamamo is the main bubble personality character but with deadly "switch ups" when needed. (the opposite of maomao who has a dead stare usually and suddenly gets excited when she's obsessed over something like the Ox bezoar etc).
