hello! ( ´ ▽ ` )/

as I make more traditional art, I've been increasingly interested in playing around with ways I can mix traditional into my digital process. the postcard especially went through a great deal of change as I figured out where and how to incorporate traditional elements. finding a balance required a lot of trial and error and at multiple points throughout the process I felt utterly lost, unsure whether to continue or scrap the whole piece and try again with a different idea.

in the past year, I've noticed myself feeling less bothered by change. for a long time I feared it, even if I outwardly stated otherwise. the prospect of trying something new and being bad at it loomed large and often stopped me from the possibility of starting. why bother trying something new if you already know what works? my mind shouted alarmingly whenever curiosity arose around a new interest. stop wasting time, you need to avoid failure. under this mindset, life melted into a monotonous routine, and some vital force within me began to wither. it's funny that safety can become a trap of its own.

life is always changing, as do we within it. change doesn't ask for our permission nor does it require our awareness to continue. as I change, I want my art to be a practice through which I can freely express that change. trial and error are not anomalies, but rather key parts of any process. here's to more trying, learning, and accessing the pulsing beat of life that lives in every moment.

speedpaint is up top, wallpapers are at the bottom. enjoy~

Vicki, I'm in such deep awe at how you express your thoughts when making art. I'm inspired by your joy for playing with materials and I love watching your process and the artistic decisions you're making when creating these pieces. It's the closest I'll ever come to perceiving magic. Thank you for sharing this with us! 💗
