for the better part of the past year I've been experimenting a bunch to bridge what I love about digital art with traditional art. messing with brush settings, being selective about the brushes I use, and incorporating techniques I use traditionally (underpainting, staying loose, doing things manually instead of relying on digital shortcuts eg: layer fills, adjustment layers) have been helping a lot to get a different look across, one that doesn't feel so obviously DIGITAL. especially since I was primarily a digital artist for many years, there were many insecurities and habits I kept discovering and I'm glad I continued to try despite those limitations.

it's been really interesting to see how my techniques and approach have evolved and I still feel like I have so much to learn. doing this in conjunction with making a lot of traditional art has been great. all the mediums inform one another and give me ideas for how and where I can change. I just try to follow the next thing that sounds interesting to me and learn something new in earnest. curious to see what I'll try next!

i admire your graphical leanings lately, vicki! especially because i've been struggling push myself towards that too.
