back on my brush pens (Patreon)

I recently reread Blankets by Craig Thompson, one of my favorite graphic novels of all time because I love anything that makes me weepy. I got sooo inspired looking at his beautiful art and thought I'd try out elements of his swooping and bold style using some brush pens I had on hand.
like any medium, there's a learning curve associated with it, a feeling I'm so used to at this point that it practically greets me like an old friend. my first sketches were awkward and bumbling as my control of the pressure sensitivity ran off the rails. classic thoughts like "how have I ever drawn anything in my life?" arose as I pushed them aside and moved on to the next sketch.
I really enjoyed drawing with these brush pens and can tell I want to do more! the texture and variability of line weight is such a special part of this medium and really lends it its unique character. much to learn as I like to say! much to learn......
