april was a month of so much chaos! I was handling a big move with an uncertain timeline and there were multiple moments throughout the month when I considered skipping may's rewards. what I couldn't predict was how returning to these pieces amidst the unpredictability of each day became something I could rely on to capture my attention for an hour here and there, solid bedrock to cling to amid the roaring waves. I found moments of serenity inside the lush greens and swirling currents I ended up choosing for the final artworks. I found it an opportunity to create a world of calm when reality demanded otherwise.

art continues to surprise me. sometimes it feels like I need it more than it needs me. it's very mysterious in that way, like one giant play in which I act out the tug of war of making decisions and compromises with the same questions over and over again. it's all at once so familiar and opaque.
