Just Another Josh

In literally any other sports anime the MC gets to the highest level and has a harsh realization that they’re not quite at the level yet. The classic motivation boost and training montage to prove them all wrong. Not Oguri. She’s winning against the number one picks, while they’re on winning streaks, and by solid margins. She comfortably beat the girl who later won the Satsuki Sho, one of the three biggest races in all of Japan. She isn’t just performing at the national level, she is already one of the very best. And yes, the real horse did actually miss the signup for the classics. They had the horse racing in the Regionals too long and didn’t attempt any national races until it was too late. On final little detail, the Classics (what Oguri failed to register for) are a ONCE only event. IRL the horse must be three years old to participate, no older or younger. So that’s it, there is no entrance into the Japanese Derby for Oguri EVER if the rules are not changed for her. Which is the exact same backlash that happened in real life. There was public outrage that what appeared to be the strongest horse was barred from running in the Classics. The show is adapting that as this story of a reporter trying to convince Symboli to help him change the rules.

Taylor definitely hit the nail on the head with his comments for this episode. Here are some things to provide further insight: 1. Yes, Oguri cap was so popular that people wanted him to participate in the Classic races as those hold the Triple Crown races and are the most exciting ones. Trainers, critics and jockeys all wanted him to race. 2. The JRA (Japanese Racing Association) had strict rules in place in terms of the classics. IRL Oguri was still racing in Kasamatsu when the registration period was going hence him not being able to do that before national transfer. 3. Speaking of the Triple Crown, you only have ONE chance to take it as one of the stipulations is that a horse should be at their 3 year old mark when participating. 4. At 18:51, the two horses are Maruzensky aka the Super Car and Sakura Chiyono O. This interaction pays homage to their lineage as Maruzensky is Chiyono's father IRL.

Reporter was giving off Kisaki vibes for sure! I thought that when I first watched this. I was like is that the little shits uncle? Make sense, he's scum, reporters are scum. Both doing sneaky shit behind the scenes as far as they can take it.😅 I love how on point Taylor is for this series! I really feel his investment when there aren't random boobs in the shot for no reason and girls are taken serious. 10/10 Taylor!😎
