Oguri isn’t particularly suited to Front Runner just because she’s already pushing her stamina limits on the medium length races. More importantly, she has no training in it. She’s spent basically her entire career so far training herself to stay near the back, conserve energy, find a gap, and then burst to the finish. There’s much greater pressure when at the front, as you can’t physically see how fast everyone else is running and might accidentally burn through your energy way too fast assuming there are people closer to you than they actually are. It requires not just physical strength but a ridiculous degree of awareness of those behind you. It takes an entirely different mindset, which is why most tend to specialize in one, maybe two, styles. Switching is pretty rare and a big gamble. What’s interesting though is that Tamamo and Oguri have similar styles, from what we’ve seen and heard so far.

FINALLY THE G1 OUTFIT FOR OGURI! Simple yet fashionable (at least imo). Here are some factoids below: 1. As mentioned in the anime, the characters only wear their signature racewears for G1 races. These racewears have nothing to do with aerodynamics and shit but do resemble the color coding their main jockeys wore during races. 2. Just to remind Taylor, these are IRL races that happened in the past so the results are already there. Just don't google them and you guys can still bet. Hehe. 3. Oguri Cap is known as a late surger and a pace chaser. More on those styles when we get there. 4. Oguri COULD be trained as a FRONT RUNNER but time isn't really on anyone's side. Here are some reasons why: a. Horse racing is very stressful to their bodies. Usually they only race once a month while using the remaining time to rest and some light training to avoid injury as horses legs are frail b. Horses tend to retire from racing early as they become breeding studs so that they are able to pass down their prowess and continue their pedigree. Some retire as early as 4 while others stretch it to 12. c. Horses also only live till 30 years old. While there are some that go past that, its extremely rare.
