So all the international horses obviously have fake names, as Umamusume only has the rights for some Japanese horses so far. Moonlight Lunacy is actually Moon Madness, Michelle my Baby is My Big Boy, Ellerslie Pride is Bonecrusher (yes, New Zealand brought a horse named Bonecrusher to this race, it’s sick), Toni Bianca is Tony Bin, and Obey Your Master is Pay the Butler.

Ah so a JoJo’s bizarre adventure kind of situation

I did the same verbal doubletake when I saw and heard Obey Your Master. I was honestly surprised that two racers came from America but when I saw what a psycho name sake Obey was I knew some shit about to go down that no one is gonna be ready for. I was ready for a Dexter style behavior after that last scene with him cause man serial Killer vibe much?😈

More or less, it’s the same with most of the girls left in Kasamatsu. If someone is a side character they’re almost guaranteed to be using fake names. Cinderella Grey has more than normal though, because they’re covering her entire career and that means tons of horses they don’t have the rights to, while other series usually focus on races against Japanese horses they already have the rights for.. Fun fact, sometimes a horse appears in a series before they get the rights to them and CyGames actually just duplicates them. So they more recently added the horses Montjeu and Stay Gold, but they previously existed in the anime as Broye and Kin’ro Ryotei with ENTIRELY different designs. If they get the licenses to a horse after using a knockoff name/design they just ignore it and create an entirely new, usually MUCH better design. Speaking of, Dicta Striker is a fake name too. Her real name should be Soccer Boy, which would be a MASSIVE downgrade. They’re an example of the rare Japanese horse they don’t have the rights to, yet is a recurring character in Cinderella Grey.

THE JAPAN CUP APPROACHES! This episode does have a some hidden facts. So imma drop some here: 1. Toni Bianca (aka Toni Bin) was mentioned to have won the Prix de l arc de triomphe. This race is like the Dark Souls/Elden Ring of Japanese Horses. No Japanese horse in the span of 50+ years has ever won this race. Closest they got was 2nd place. That's how prestigious and difficult this race is for Japan. 2. Random fact: The shrine and hotel in this episode are all located in Shinjuku. The shrine is Hanazono Shrine and the hotel is Keio Plaza Hotel. Reason i know? Its the hotel i always stay at in Japan and the shrine i visit the most. LOL! 3. Gold City, Oguri's new running partner, is know in the Uma Musume universe as the prettiest Uma. Aside from running races, she is also a fashion model.
