Deathbringer and Angry Dwarf don't do surveys. "Where is kill the bard option?" "Where are the pig-faced orcs?"

I would like to be able to go to gaming conventions again. I enjoyed all of them I attended in the past. I think some, like GenCon, have become too political and much too crowded, so I would want to visit smaller ones, especially those like ReaperCon, that focus on minis. I'm a mini addict.

I have wildly opposing views of WotC and Hasbro. They are very different entities. I've done some work at WotC, and they are a group of people who are truly dedicated to the game. I believe the dysfunctional behaviors are largely driven from the suits at Hasbro.

PDM I hope you are well. Erik Tenkar brought my attention to both of these news items. RIP Jim Ward may his Warden finally reach its star. I also took the survey, and, yes, I hate Wizbros! Thanks for bringing attention to both of these topics to your patrons and YouTube subscribers. Best, MrGunn

Bagel-Man 🥯 and MrGunn 💪 were too busy gabbing 🙊 in the pits 🔧🧰 to enter the race 🏁 this time.

I had to answer that I'm "neutral" toward D&D, but "conflicted" would be closer to the mark. On the one hand I *play* D&D 5e, and (mostly) enjoy it, but on the other hand but I cut my teeth on games *other* than D&D: Classic Traveller, RuneQuest, Champions, Ars Magica, Call of Cthulhu, etc. My other regular game group plays mostly Cypher System but is starting Warhammer 40K: Imperium Maledictum. The experiences I have with these games feel broader and more varied than the D&D dungeon delving default kick-in-the-door-kill-things-take-their-loot play loop. But D&D is the giant tree taking all the sunlight and rain, while these other games are saplings struggling for life on the dark, barren forest floor. I appreciate Gygax and Arneson _et al._ for getting the RPG ball rolling, but I also resent that the namesake of the game they designed, with its built-in reward loop and ever more complicated rules, overshadows equally worthy designs that emphasize investigation, exploration, intrigue, and character development. (All of which you *can* do in D&D, but which yield no immediate rewards in the main game loop of the rules as written.) But yeah, sure. Call me "neutral". Like a 1st edition druid or monk that has to defeat their superiors to advance in level.

I save my hate for ex-wives and other deserving people. WotC is not my fave company, mostly because of how they take their consumers for granted (all companies tend to do that). Sad to hear about the passing of Jim Ward. He impacted millions of people, so I think it was a life well lived. Deities and Demigods, along with Fiend Folio are some of my favorite DnD pieces from childhood.

So there's this noteworthy card game called Uno. I believe it's made by Mattel but I could be misremembering. Anyway the official account for this game posted a rule clarification about whether or not you could play a draw 2 on another draw 2 and said that you couldn't. I think the general consensus of the response was "thanks for the cards; we'll take it from here." I don't know anybody who's been bored enough to play Uno who actually follows the rules as written at all. Every group of people who plays Uno seems to follow some Byzantine set of house rules to make the game go by way faster or to make it more chaotic. My preferred set of house rules is if you have multiples of the same number and the number on the discard pile matches that number, you are allowed to do so provided it doesn't play your last card. For instance at the card on the discard pile shows three, and you've got two threes. You can play both of them irrespective of their color. It can be fun to stack draw twos or even wild draw fours to torment your opponents. I've seen even more exotic rules from other groups. Anyway when it comes to Dungeons & Dragons one D&D and all that stuff. The CEO of wizards can talk about how it's undermonetized but I'm going to say the same thing to her that fans of Uno said to Mattel. "Thanks for the books from the '70s-2010s, I'll take it from here."
