Cool to see a second video on the topic

Q: What does backwards compatibility mean for the new edition of D&D? A: Homna..homna...homana... Uhmm, its fifthier!? 💩🚽🌀👋

Players are getting stronger and stronger, that is the difference. I am a forever DM so it is just a new edition made to make things harder for me to bring challenge to the game. The TOV monster book, I must say, has cool bonus actions and reactions that every creature can do and THAT is fun for a DM. As a Pro DM I must move on to the new rules as that is what all of my players want. Which means that now I have to rethink all of the encounters and try to make them more difficult as power creep is really, really higher than ever.

It would be interesting if my players burst into flame. A real mess but interesting.

So true on editions not being that different. Woulda never thought Deathbringer has been married, but not surprised she is no longer in the picture. He can't be easy to live with.

Jared Davis

Good catch. I came here to provide the same feedback. I’m sure the final version will correct this.

You sound exhausted, or medicated. Get some rest. No doubt there is a great focus, especially by kids, to get the new and trusting that the new is better.

I don't think you can port Pathfinder stat blocks straight into 5e. They get to like +32 to hit and 40AC at very high levels

Scott

It really just means they want more money.

The 2024 book is much better laid out and all classes are presented consistently. I have players that don’t read too much and rely on me to know all the rules so I think this version of the rules is very welcome. Prof DM’s Hickman story helped me to stop worrying about editions and even what system I’m running. I find it to be much healthier mindset.

Someone with vastly more patience than me made a video talking about how they're are material balance issues from mixing and matching things. I didn't actually watch the video or anything cuz my eyes glaze over on that kind of conversation. Character building is the least interesting part of the game in my opinion. I know some people love this sort of side game of building this perfect character. But I've come to realize that what you do in the actual game is the most important part. Having a wacky class race combination, a 60-page backstory, all that forget all that. What are you doing at the actual game. That is my preference.

If you miss ladies of negotiable affection for your setting, I suggest to anyone to steal Terry Pratchett's Seamstress Guild from the DIscworld: "They call themselves 'seamstresses', hem, hem." The guild is headed by Rosie Palm... Mrs Palm and her five "daughters". Enjoy as you see fit.
