Another great video! Thanks for investing your summer break on content creation for patrons!

Rogue General Hunter (RGH)

Great video sir. What are the odds that my neighbor's lawn service would start blowing off the sidewalks just as I got to the bonus content?Today it's apparently 100%. Imagine my surprise when I paused the video and the leaf blower sound continued.

The Old DM

The lawn mowing comments cracked me up. You must have let out your inner Deathbringer apparently. :) Great video and suggestions.

I always tend to use the word "interesting" when starting a negative critique. "Hey, Mr. DM, you made some interesting choices in the game." And then I go to, "Have you ever considered this?" Going with "That kind of sucked" doesn't seem to go over very well. Welcome to your new editor, Sean or Shawn!!!

PDM, I asked Deathbringer and he told me to stab bad DMs with a shiv until they improved or died. Glad you posted your advice before I went all stabby stabby! :P Yikes, 10,000 hours is about five years assuming it is a 40 hour a week job. I especially appreciated the Bonus Material on this video. I agree, I do not see where the player who gave you feedback was being rude. You ASKED for the feedback. If the person was mean about it, ok, maybe, yeah, kinda rude. But if the feedback was provided in a straight forward matter of fact manner, lean in, like you said; you will learn something. One thing, if the feedback is kinda tough, do it in private. As the management manual says: All praise should be public, all criticism should be private. Where I have a real beef is with Youtubers and others who post things on-line and then get butt hurt when you don't praise them in the comments like an obsequious toady. You held up your baby like the Lion King and said; Isn't my baby beautiful! Don't pout or curse the commenter, you know who you are girl, when the viewer says; No, I think your baby is ugly. Same goes for their vitriolic fan boyz and girlz who feel the need to defend the poster with rude counter comments instead of a reasoned response.

Sorry I could not hear the comment over leaf the blower, what did he say about the lawn mower. <8oD LOL :D

Leaving a game is a tough choice for older players. I've found it a good bit harder to find a group once I passed the Logan's Run threshold.

Wow, this video came at just the right time! Thanks

This is a very necessary video, thanks for making it! I think it would take a lot for me to ditch a DM even if they were pretty bad at it. I think this is mainly because I grew playing in groups of other kids my age and at that stage NONE of us knew how to do it! Because I know the amount of work involved I would tend to overlook deficiencies in how the game was run as long fun is being had. A rude or obnoxious DM is a different matter though, and I haven't come across many of them yet, thankfully. Communication is very important though, and continuing with a game you don't enjoy doesn't do anyone any good. Like you I appreciate direct feedback but personally I would draw the line at somebody bringing out a list of bullet points in front of other players directly after a game! I think a frank conversation in private or by text is the way to do that, and they can be as honest/brutal as they like.

I know right! Sadly the kiddies today have NO idea who Logan is or why he is running or the underlying social and political critique of the emptiness of a youth and consumer obsessed society in the 1976 original. Side note, I never read the book. Brrr.... the thought of being trapped in a shopping mall terrifies me, I hate shopping! There is/was talk about a remake in the recent past, however to date this has gone no where. An article I read says Warner wants to target a Logan's Run remake at the Young Adult audience similar to Hunger Games , which makes sense sort of.... except to us Red Crystals. Could be a great film if they don' F'it up, but with a DC of 20 to make good film and no DB dice, Hollywood will be hard-pressed. BTW I checked there IS NO sanctuary, stay inside, it is too hot out there. Now, if only there were a, New You Shop, the wifey and I could shave a few pounds and improve our facial symmetry.

The idea behind that movie terrified me. Even today I get a gut-clench when I think of Carousel and Renewal. The movie itself is/was/ever shall be hard to watch with a straight face....

I’ve run into Help my dm is too cinematic! Had a player turned dm that created an entire campaign and new world. Including a new species and a 3d world map origami in 81/2 by 11 ruled paper. Took about one hour of play before he gave up. We were just running around and destroying every laid out plot.

Next up. Why my dm is worth their weight in gold.
