Bagel-Man

Another good video PDM, keep up the great work!

James M Spahn

I watched this and had mixed opinions. I watched the follow up that focused on Rogues and kept hearing the phrase "Turn the Volume Up," which translates to me as code for "More Powerful." This combined with mention that Inspiration will be more readily available makes it seem like 1D&D is going to be EVEN MORE superheroic than 5e. Not my style at all, but I get the appeal. It IS a power fantasy after all.

I might have to executive produce the Professor’s “Build-a-Bard” video.

Intriguing on the reward of luck dice or inspiration on nat1s. Makes sense to even out the rolls. Overall - sounds interesting. There are a many ways to make chili, same with playing D&D - just pick the way you like it. I think PDM adds extra heat to his chili and D&D ;)

I want to love Inspiration mechanics but my experience is I forget to give it out, or when I remember, players forget to use it. So, I had trouble getting excited one way or the other about this update. The video is good but I wish there was a bit more about what you liked what you liked in proportion to what you don’t care about. But I have no specific cuts in mind. I think it’s fine to expect a video on much of this playtest material. I’m hoping they keep proposing video-worthy ideas!

I mentioned it in the Facebook group. I am glad you shared your opinion. For me the most important part of the video is they are listening. It is important to share feedback with them as you could be the person that tips the scale one way or another.

I realize not everyone is into this content, but so much of what we do draws from WOTC or our own experience with D&D over the years and so many of the players that will be coming into the hobby over the next several years. Will be starting at that point. I doubt they'll ever address my biggest issue with Dungeons& Dragons and that's power creep. I doubt they'll ever look at characters with not as many powers. I was watching Baron and I think he said it Best. Dungeons and Dragons is great for combat focused campaigns. If you want mystery style campaigns or more story rich campaigns you may have to adjust. I'm not saying there can't be story focused campaigns in Dungeons& Dragons, but so much of the character and the powers they gain as they level up are focused at making them better in combat. They are doing some interesting stuff with the expert group so I will be happy to see what the final product looks like

Oh come on!!!! I would love a build a bard workshop with a Robert Smith Bard or a Morrissey Bard!! lol!!

Shane Olson

I laughed pretty hard when you were describing the bard subclasses lol. I do like Inspiration die on 1.. it's a great idea!

Old School miniatures box labeled "The Specialists" had Thieves, Bards, Rangers, and so on. Bet they call them that or "The Experts". Anyway, the luck dice rules were definitely worth the buck and EZD6 is absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see what else they add on to it. Unearthed Arcana just can't keep my interest. However, independents always seem to have the most innovative and best ideas. Keep up the great work.

Been using the luck dice roll since you introduced them to me way back when. (may not have been all that way back when but, it wasn't yesterday) (to be honest, it could've been yesterday and I'm thinking it was way back when) (although we've been lucky unluck a lot) (it's always the mage by the way)

A Ronnie James Dio bard sub-class is the one thing that might get me to leave the OSR and play 5E! Great job on the video, especially as it was not rehearsed -- you are a professional broadcaster now, PDM.

Drago Russo

PDM, you should definitely check out the changes to the Bard class. I think they are really well done and boy do we have a lot of new things that everyone will be able to do as they gain a level. They took away the Bards being able to cast cure light wounds, however, now the bardic inspiration die can be used as a "reaction" to either give a buff 1d6 or in response to an ally's damage taken to give them healing. That is a nice concept. Some of the rogue stuff is very interesting as well. Exhaustion is now more interesting and can be used more. Guidance now being a "reaction" is a great idea. The "hidden" condition and "hide" action are improved. Jump action now has mechanics and well quite a few things I like. I think the "glossary" section is very important for everyone to review.

Inspiration on a nat 1 is a great mechanical idea, but RPG-wise, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I rolled a 1, failed as badly as I could and I am inspired by my great failure? That's the part I can't get over. Someone straighten me out! Also, I let folks use Inspiration after a failed rolled vs. before, if players are going to get a lot more Inspiration opportunities, I would go back to RAW use of it vs. after the roll, otherwise would be too much of a player advantage on top of so many other PC related advantages.
