Excited to watch, keep up the great work PDM!

Graham Kane

Looking forward to this one!

WizBros just cannot seem to get out of their own way. It is one PR debacle after another. Hiring 'ethicists' to say how great a company is nothing new, these PR shenanigans happen all the time, in fact the terms whitewashing and greenwashing were born from it. However, WizBros sending Pinkerton's to an individual's home on a Sunday morning to intimidate them was beyond the pale. The Pinkerton's, really, given that organizations history what did they think the public's response would be. The vision of WizBros as a mustache twirling villain would be funny if WizBros weren't so rotten and causing real harm to real people. Personally, I am pledging to not give WizBros or their affiliates another dime of my hard won loot. I agree YouTubers should pivot away from WizBros and promote other games. We could call the month without D&D, "Jerkless July" (wakka wakka). :D Regarding the Bonus Content, the world of the YouTuberatti is suspiciously incestuous, which in my opinion, makes it susceptible to groupthink and drama, leading to a lessening of the independence and unbiased opinions of the creators therein, however unconscious. I point to the recent support of a number of Kickstarters on this platform, despite repeated statements about not supporting Kickstarters. I know this is unpopular opinion and my expression of concern is not meant as an ad hominem attack, only an observation born out of a desire to see the good created here remain untainted. As always PDM, thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions, and I will continue to support you. I wish you and yours the very best. PS 3 years to retirement, I envy you!

I wonder if the average 5e player knows or cares about the OGL, Pinkerton's or other mishaps and problems at WizBro. Possibly a large portion of the 5e player base, maybe the vast majority, has no interest in other games besides D&D? Not that this generalizes necessarily... but my two sons, 16 and 13, could care less. They are enjoying playing DCC with me and I got them to roll up some B/X characters, but they are WizBro 5e through and through... they know it well, their friends play it, and like you said... it was there first. And there are lots of good things about that game. Also, my kids are inundated with outrage... that's what's on the news, that's what is on social media, and they are force fed it at public school all day long. Some portion of their classmates walk around at war with the world, perceiving they are constantly being victimized. But my boys are actually fairly desensitized to it at this point, so I think people talking about the OGL is just one more outrage that they aren't willing to waste time on. And you know, they are probably right! Thanks for the video Prof, love your stuff. PS: Reading through Castle Xyntillan in prep for a B/X group I've started up... wow, what a really, really fun dungeon crawl with tons of crazy in it... both whimsical and extremely deadly. And I get a kick out of using stuff published by the First Hungarian d20 Society, reminds me that this game is enjoyed across the world. PPS: I can provide you with an Ethics and Social Responsibility badge for your site. However, I would need full access to all of your content and I'd have to play in 4 of your games a year. And of course, a small fee to cover administrative costs of $12k a year.

MrGunn

@Chris Janak Insightful post, thanks for sharing. PS. You forgot to mention the honorarium, the paid travel, lodging, car service and per diem when you come to play in his games. Also you should ask for a bowl of only blue M&Ms and Vernor's Diet Soda at the table for you. :D

Cee-Jay

Oh, there will be plenty more in the fine print for sure! Ha, my Dad's from Detroit so Vernor's all the way. And the classic Van Halen M&M reference. Thanks and take care.

Daniel Defazio

Thanks for your support. Ah, Kickstarter. I've evolved on that one. I now see It as a way to create buzz around games. My initial thought was I don't want to support things and then the creator doesn't deliver. But that isn't happening and I have started to back them myself. Plus, my friends are Kickstarting things--and they're good games! I'll talk about this more on the next live show.

Professor dungeon master has his +5 Holy Avenger with his +5 Vest of Protection. I hear you! I appreciate your passion. Hasbro owns Wizards of the Coast. World of Warcraft is owned by Activision, which Microsoft owns. Microsoft does not make Warcraft, and Wizards of the Coast does not make Monopoly, but Hasbro dictates how they will use their bought property of Wizards of the Coast. I started with the second edition. I played through the rules lawyering of 3.5, and I enjoy the fifth edition, although it's getting a bit crunchy, which is why I am looking forward to Shadowdark. I am looking for inspiring content. I stop watching a video when it's not about the game. It becomes just politics. D&D has brought much joy into my life. I go to the creators to listen about the game or learn about the game or talk about the game. I want to see the 2024 books I can play on my tabletop pen and paper. Will that happen? I don't know. We will see. I'm a big fan of buying it and not being attached to the corporation; they can only take away my books if you're in Florida. Lol, sorry political joke. I'm not eager to generalize corporations because it's not just Hasbro. The creator of Dungeons and Dragons is not Hasbro, but Hasbro is the owner. I appreciate the creators. I'm not a big fan of THACO, and the fifth edition is the best edition of D&D. I like Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford, and they are fantastic. They work for Wizards of the Coast, which happens to be owned by Hasbro. I'm sure they love Dungeons and Dragons. When it comes to capitalism, the difficulty is that you can't draw a big box around the Hasbro corporation, which Wizards the Coast is owned by, and say it could be better. From my end, when the OGL happened, I dumped DND beyond. Since then, I have re-joined but will not buy a single product from D&Dbeyond. It didn't feel like DND, even when I was on D&D Beyond. It was easy to walk away from because that's not a critical asset to the game for me. D&DBeyond automates the mechanics of the game. Yes, you can speed up the game, but it takes away from understanding all the characters created. I feel sad that Hasbro does not understand slow and steady overtime income. I would keep building them. It is, unfortunately, a stereotype of many corporations. Today is quick money. The D&D movie is not quick money, either. As you pointed out, they lost money. It wasn't about the money when they made the movie. I enjoyed the film. It was about the forgotten realms, and even Ed Greenwood said it was a fun romp. Was the movie entirely accurate about the Forgotten Realms? No. But it is a good Dungeons and Dragons movie. Couldn't it have been better? Yes, but it's still the best Dungeons & Dragons movie, and it was fun. The 2000 DND movie was no fun. Everyone loves Stan Lee, but there's a dark history there, also. I remember Marvel putting out Captain America with rubber ears. They have to start from somewhere. And I never would have seen the comics of Marvel put on the silver screen if it wasn't for Disney. Should I dislike Marvel because they are part of Disney? It's like a Dungeons and Dragons game. The NPCs and the PCs have flaws. As for the Pinkerton thing, again, I don't play magic at the gathering. Was it Hasbro that made the attack on the Pinkertons, or was it Wizards of the Coast? I know it wasn't the DND team. Do you see my point? The problem is that the board of directors of Hasbro needs to care about the product. They see it as a vehicle for lots of money. Cynthia Williams is from Microsoft, and they created Minecraft for Dungeons and Dragons, which, of course, is owned by Microsoft. So She thinks as if she is at Microsoft. I am sure Hasbro sees video games as money—Hense, the virtual tabletop, which I am not interested in. TTRPG for me. Not VTTRPPG. I like the around-the-table game with paper and pencil. The only answer the corporate board members follow is money like a giant red dragon. It's like Dungeons and Dragons. The giant red dragon is hoarding money and has many enslaved people under them who make a living due to the red dragon. If Hasbro let go of Dungeons and Dragons, it might be its own company and have freedom. Ask yourself why is Wizards of the Coast part of Hasbro. Do they have the means to be on their own? These are theoretical questions. As the consumers of the products or players of the game, we don't have a say in that. In my life, I have often seen generalizations that harm the desired outcome because of the inability to see the details. Critical thinking here is needed. Critical role before the OGL, they worked with Hasbro because they had games shipped out as a partnership. Look at the stores and realize that Hasbro heavily monetized many of the games they put out. Should we be upset at Critical Role? Because Hasbro pulled the OGL on us? They are looking to create more safety in their brand investments. The giant corporation does not have the same interests as the individual creator. The reaction and future planning are appropriate for all creators to independent themselves away from one giant corporation. As for the DND movie, What was the goal of the movie? Money? I don't think it was about money. It's a marketing platform. I appreciate all the YouTube creators who talk about and play the game. As a watcher, I am always interested in homebrew. I've never played a game of Dungeons and Dragons straight as written. I am looking forward to Shadowdark, so there are certain parts of why I enjoy DND, like games and the fifth edition. I buy a lot of different RPGs and steal from them all to create my role-playing game mixture based on the fifth edition. That is why I go to watch Professor Dungeonmaster because, like the bone road's super creative way of playing the game, I always look forward to the clever new way of playing the game, and that's the kind of content I'm seeking. I want to ask the community to focus on games and less on politics. I get enough crap in the media as it is. Let us play TTRPGs and focus there :) This subject is the last time I will talk about this because I am tired of being sucked into the negative. Let our roles be a +20 not a -20 :)

baldrage

A couple of thoughts: 1) Bravo for the harsh words for WOTC and Hasbro. It has been clear to me for years they hold their customers in contempt and I am glad to see you have the testicular fortitude to publically lambaste them. 2) I say this with the utmost respect sir, but by continuing to operate exclusively on Patreon and YouTube, you are just as guilty of giving money to unethical (lawful evil) companies as the 5E fans you criticize for continuing to buy WOTC products. Your principled stance on gaming would reasonate more loudly (at least with me) if you offered alternative ways to support DungeonCraft for those of us who would rather not give clicks and money to companies that hate us.

MrGunn

@baldrage Interesting points, I agree Patreon, DTRPG, Facebook, and YouTube are ethically challenged, sadly the alternatives are not very good platforms nor do they reach as large an audience.

baldrage

Those are exactly the arguments that 5E players would use to continue buying from WOTC!

Ade Sanya

PDM, not sure you remember the conversation we had during your visit about the tactics wizards is implementing to appease their shareholders? I saw this coming... Your content is always choice. I agree with all that you stated in this video and many others. The unplugging from what is understood as "DnD" will take some time I feel... if allowed. The space need to perform an opportunity attack still hasn't presented itself. The OGL debacle strategically played, I feel is exactly the reason for stock shares going back up, coupled with the release of the movie and all of the in-line promises soon to be released. It's the perfect guise of rebranding. The attention they required to portent change was eagerly wrangled up by content creators worldwide. There's no ambiguity on how and why the value of this company is raising. We gamers are so emotionally driven, our achilles is ever present for the industries to do what they can with it. I still believe the losses they were willing to swallow during the turmoil where worth the rewards in the aftermath. Most influencers that have somewhat changed their tone on this issue are partly in bed with the reality that their livelihood relies heavily on the success of "DnD" as most know it to be. The masses couldn't care less what other RPG's are called, as long as they can sit for a couple of hours and feel entertained with likeminded individuals. My approach, as with any challenge, is to look for ways to remove reliance on the systematized variables, within functional means, allowing the potential to branch off and operate incognito, whilst running parallel to the elephant in the room. I fully support the production of independent content and the revival of Old School Classics. 5E content has lost my support in the way of book purchases, but the miniatures that are continually being released... I can't lie, I don't see an end to my purchases there. My concept relies on providing pre-painted, durable minis for play. I too am aiding in shoring up their coffers, but looking to use their miniatures to run immersive experiences with any content, barring 5E and One DnD. "There isn't any one way to skin a cat". Many paths can lead to change. Why not use the tools provided to do so? Talk soon :)

baldrage

3) you missed a golden opportunity to use a clip from the Simpsons with Mr. Burns touting the personal touch that comes with hired goons: https://youtu.be/FsUuhW7WbIg

MrGunn

@baldrage So you make a fair point, now I like to hear a go forward plan that you would support and feel ethically comfortable with?

Drago Russo

I have watched all of your videos and I think you are definitely one of the good guys. I also love how you want to help independent creators. But I followed you as I loved your ideas on how to be a better DM/GM. Your videos on your version of the Veiled Society was great and I can't get enough that. But you are beginning to come off as a WotC hater and very negative. I just don't think that is who you are and people that don't know, the ones who find you on YouTube, might think you are a WizHater and not the great family guy that really is out there to help the little guy and everyone else. I hope that you create more content on how we can run better games with ideas and less of the "view grabbing" bashing of WotC. By the way, they will have a presence at all of the major shows this year.

Nygfan

This is a call to arms!!! But the others, Ginny D, DnD Shorts…they won’t do it. They just won’t

Daniel Defazio

I appreciate that. About to start shooting The Lost City. Non WoTC videos still running at a 6-1 ratio though.

Daniel Defazio

Good point. Patreon is still the best option though. It's the easiest and best supprted. And I own stock in Google, which owns YouTube. So it's kinda MY evil company.

Drago Russo

Oh and feel free to make videos that push your stuff. More people need to see your simple hacks and great ideas. The James Bondesque timer is something that I look to do as much as possible and I will leave you with this. I would make videos on how you can take ANY adventure/module/idea and use that for story while playing with a system like Deathbringer. In my opinion, this is one of the reasons that systems like that don't get enough traction and everyone is buying the WotC books. They want ideas for adventures. So if you were to make a video about how to take virtually anything and use it with other systems like Deathbringer. But that's just what I think. Now let me get to cleaning my shirt as I just spilled coffee on it. lol

baldrage

There are plenty of alternatives that could be used IN ADDITION to Patreon, YT, FaceBook. Podia, Kofi, buymecoffee, bitchute, rumble, subscribestar, etc.

Ade Sanya

I'll never invest in their stocks. I purchase the miniatures for utility.

Daniel Defazio

"Ideas for Adventures" has video potential. I just posted a review of "The Black Sword Hack" BTW--so you'll have some more positive content.

Daniel Defazio

Baldrage is correct. The problem, BR, is it takes time to upload to all those places and I don't have more time. Each site comes with a 10+ question checklist and you have to remember why you're checking what. To upload to Vimeo and Youtube takes about 30 minutes, easy. I get confused about what I uploaded where. If my wife and I didn't work full time, we could do it, but I don't have a staff. So it's tough.

Chuck Thorin

I'm wondering if WOTC is doing this PDM has to spend his time going "Breaking News" videos. :) Yes, play, run, and talk about games you like. I can't understand how so many people can just keep going back again and again to WOTC. There's was so much fervor when the OGL fiasco hit. Now, sure I'll shell out some $$ for official D&D underwear.. And finally. Just my opinion but I think some of the Youtube Influencers are more about the influence rather than game.

Jay

PDM, great video and I agree with practically all of it. However, I do question the soring stocks of WoTC and a so call Ethics Award (Really?!!) Some movie studios have allegedly done gerrymandering regarding ticket sales in the past and I wonder if there are some shenanigans going on here. Most YouTubers that cover TTRPG’s don’t really promote DnD products yet the ones who do are usually promoting their own independent but 5E compatible stuff rather than those made by WoTC. Many in the comments sections have stated they are moving away from WoTC as well. Hmm…inquiring minds wanna know. Then there are the Pinkertons. I’m certain others have already commented on them, and I would only echo their concerns so I will leave it at that. In any case, I prefer to support independent creators. In my opinion, the larger the corporation the greater the likelihood of corruption and the drive to improve profit margins by any means necessary. That in and of itself eventually leads to unethical business practices.

A Name Apart

I agree with the "no hate on other content creators" but NONE of them pushed back on the anti-white statements of Kyle Brink. I lost a lot of respect and unsubscribed from quite a few channels. > “This is not the face of the hobby anymore,” Brink said, “and I think there’s been mistakes made in years past where people assumed that D&D players were all, you know, white dudes in a basement. Which has been a faulty assumption for a lot of years and gets more and more false every day. And so in my viewpoint, guys like me can’t leave soon enough.”

Glumer Games LLC

So here’s a “Hasbro “ money maker model for you. We pay you $1,500 for a best game in the world ever application. Then we pay you $10,000 to do videos every day stating how we have the only rpg worth playing…ever! That’s ethical right?

MrGunn

@Drago Russo Thanks for sharing your thoughts, however, I am not sure I agree with your assertion: "But you are beginning to come off as a WotC hater and very negative. I just don't think that is who you are and people that don't know, the ones who find you on YouTube, might think you are a WizHater..." WizBros keeps F'ing up: The OGL Debacle, The D&D Summit Blunder, Magic the Pinkerton Goon Squad Cards, All White Men Must Go. WizBros have done a lot of damage recently to their brand and the community; there is a lot to hate about them. I believe the problem is endemic to WizBros Sr. Leadership and corporate culture, I see no change on the horizon, they don't get it and they don't seem to care. I feel PDM has been very balanced and reasonable in calling WizBros out for their egregious failings as a company when warranted. In fact, he has not called for a boycott, he paid to see the movie, and gave it bad review, an unpopular opinion, I respect him for that. Rather than a WizHater, he has simply pivoted away from D&D 5e (really, he always has), others are also pivoting away, DM Lair is switching his channel to a Pathfinder 2e channel. Further, I disagree that people want adventure ideas: "In my opinion, this is one of the reasons that systems like that don't get enough traction and everyone is buying the WotC books. They want ideas for adventures." The numbers do not support you, GMs buy the majority of books, players generally only buy books about fluff, classes, and new versions of the RPG. It is GM's who want adventure ideas and things to make their lives easier, but these generally don't sell all that well, and players could care less. People buy WizBros stuff b/c it is familiar and their friends play; I think @Chris Janak put it best in his post above. DungeonCraft has a broad set of interests and has pivoted the channel over time from craft oriented, to GM Tips and Industry News oriented. I am sure there will be additional changes in future. Personally, I would like to hear less overall about WizBros and D&D 5e, and not at all about Matt Mercer ;). In my mind, PDM is intelligent, insightful, measured, mature, balanced, unbiased, and generally positive. Thirty years as a school teacher has given him a thick skin and the good sense not to engage where it won't make a difference. I feel similarly about his Patreon audience, I have said some things that others have taken issue with, but most people have either not commented, clearly recognizing me for the blowhard I am ;) or engaged me respectfully, even when they think my opinion stinks. So stay the course PDM, I am interested to see where you are going.

MrGunn

@Eric Schumann "As for the Pinkerton thing, again, I don't play magic at the gathering. Was it Hasbro that made the attack on the Pinkertons, or was it Wizards of the Coast? I know it wasn't the DND team. Do you see my point?" I am left scratching my head, the Wagner Group did it, it was bad, but it was not the Kremlin. Huh!?! Therefore, no, no I do not get your points at all. It is not just a couple of bad actors, it is the entire company, their leadership and the corporate culture they created. I found the entire post a confusing hair splitting pettifog of naive and disjointed thoughts.

SJBehindtheScreen

I agree with the hate fatigue, but I was surprised this wasn't a bigger deal. A large company hired armed thugs to visit a customer and retake their products that he bought. It's so bizarre you just can't make it up.

MrGunn

@Chuck Thorin Good thoughts all around. The: YOU SUCK, but here take my money!, crowd are baffling.

MrGunn

@Jay Hiya Jay, hope you are doing well, enjoyed your post. I agree at some point most large companies, especially public ones, start to focus more on the money and not the product. Look at Sears and Discover Card, GE and their financing arm, State Farm and their investment arm.

MrGunn

@A Name Apart I completely agree, this bigoted nonsense has no place any where in the hobby. Although there were several more conservative voices like RPGPundit who did speak out. While, I don't agree with much of RPPGPundit's politics, he does make some good points and holds the "We are SO inclusive until you disagree with us crowd.", and the: "We SHOUT really loud moral majority minority" on the left and right to task. Tenkar I think mentioned it, and RPG Elite has also had a few choice things to say about similar hypocrisy.

MrGunn

@Glumer Games LLC Yep, as much ethics as $10k will buy you. :)

MrGunn

@Gerard Brown Everyone knows I have not much good to say about Ginny D but she did boycott DnDBeyond, so a grudging kudos for that. As to DnD Shorts, I don't get his appeal or his large number of subs. Short's content is not that good and I gotta think there are shenanigans at play around the number of subs he has. There are so many better creators out there with far fewer subs, though I got no proof, my QAnon senses are tingling, something is rotten in East Warickshire.

MrGunn

@SJBehindtheScreen Agreed, although I do think the story is a bit less cut and dried on how he acquired the unreleased MtG cards, so his hands may not be entirely clean.

Elated Muse

Again, this is why let's focus on the positive and not the negative. I would rather focus on the games. I hope you find fun in games. you can find a place and game that gives you joy. good luck!

Weird Cat

This was the final straw for me with regards to WotC/Hasbro. They're the ones who made a mistake, and they send what's basically a violent mercenary group to intimidate the guy who didn't even do anything wrong? It's beyond the pale. I will not be buying anything from them again for a long, long time, if ever.

Brent Tomlonovic

I am one of those people that buy all the books. I have a D&D collection that goes back almost 50 years. I have over 1100 products. I buy one of each cover of the newer 5e books. (I also buy all the different covers of the various DCC books. Don't ask me how many DCC core books I own, I have a problem.) But I have stopped. The OGL was the final straw for me. It really bothers me that I feel like my collection is incomplete, but I am missing some of the older books from previous editions so I will get over it. I have not run anything with a WotC product since 2019. I am doing the same thing with Games Workshop. Again, I have a large collection of Warhammer and Warhammer 40k products going back over 30 years. I have a garage full of shelves of armies. But I am just done with giving my money to these two companies when lots of other independent creators exist. I have always played a variety of RPG and mini wargames in addition to D&D and Warhammer, now I am just focusing on them.

samurguybri

I’m running a game for 4th and 5th graders at the school I work at, using 5 Torches Deep and running an OSE adventure. I just tell them many games are DnD. The kids are loving it and I’m learning so much about what’s really important in a game or system. I love paying it forward. A great quote from the Ted Lasso show: “ Don’t fight back. Fight forewords.”

Daniel Defazio

I can see that. I made a promise a long time ago to never make a video instead of actually playing the game.Because actual play is what it's all about. Each week I run 3-10 hours of D&D. So they're running about even.

Daniel Defazio

There were some shenanigans with the D&D movie. Original reports said it grossed 38.5m on its opening weekend. Those numbers were later revised to 37.5 million and that included the "Thursday Previews" which actually included the two weeks of select previews that preceded it. All of this was done to "pad" the opening and make it seem larger. The truth is, although many MANY people liked the movie, they were male fans over the age of 25. Gen Zers, Critters, and kids did not show up.

samurguybri

I appreciate your acknowledgement of the complexity of the situation. It makes it hard to find the way to act ethically.

Jay

PDM, good job with the fact checking and researching this one. Normally, I catch wind of this stuff from the usual sources. Thanks for the great info. It explains a bit but I believe there may be more to uncover. Hope we find out.

NØKKEN_WAITS

I personally love being informed about the companies who's products I make. I always appreciate your take on these things, Prof! I'm so finished with WOTC. Aside from their eye roll inducing behaviour, which I agree, isn't shocking, but IS pretty awful, their products have been NOT up to par.

Elated Muse

@ProfDM I am so looking forward to the creative remake of the Bone Road! I love it!

Ernesto

"Im not against capitalism but I don't know why there are no consequences for unethical companies?" ...... it is because of capitalism. You can say that "it is because of capitalism" without endorsing Stalin Both things can be true, capitalism is the most productive economic system that humanity has created, and at the same time, capitalism at its essence is ONLY about increasing production without any regard to ethics and morals. Capitalism is what makes previously loved companies like Blizzard and WoTC disregard any sense of ethics and basic decency in the pursuit of $$$$

Continue to fight the good fight PDM! Wolverines! Freedom! (Insert your favorite fight cry)

jnlsn family

Spot on. I haven't bought WotC products in about 5 years. Deathbringer's bit at the end was great. My boy enjoyed that one. Keep it up!

Graham Kane

Great video. This one really amazed me. After the perpetual PR sh*tstorm that WOTC/Hasbro have created for themselves over the past few months this was something that could have been solved so easily. If you're in a hole, stop digging! But in true corporate form the left hand did'nt know what the right hand was doing so they "released the hounds!" I'm really hoping this will be the straw to break the camel's back with people but we know this probably won't be the case. All I know is WOTC will never get a another dime from me. I did buy the core 5E books a few years back just for reference purposes but that will be the end of it. I have my BECMI, DCC, ICRPG and Deathbringer and I'm getting ready to run Shadowdark so I'm all fixed. By the way, did you send Deathbringer around to deal with those people who ripped off Macdeath? Totally justified IMHO.....

Tuska

Hasbro is dead to me. I refuse to buy or support their products. I also suspect the company's numbers. Ethics was bought,...so could cooking the books be a fact too?

Daniel Defazio

I am a capitalist. I own a company. I have morals. There are just some things I won't do, even if it means I lose money.

Daniel Defazio

Thanks for the response. We send them an angry letter and they took it down and disappeared. We're not looking too hard--it would cost too much.

Daniel Defazio

I think there is a lot of creative accounting with large corporations. Not saying that's the case here, but eventually, the truth comes out. Case in point: General Electric.

Ernesto

But business owners have existed since the dawn of civilization, having a business is not an invention of capitalism Capitalism is the accumulation of capital and use of it for capital sake. It is a means and an end in to itself. For example, let's say that in the future PDM/Dungeoncraft became a a business with shareholders, with the fiduciary duty of maximize grown, in that moment you must do anything to serve that duty, or be kicked out of your own company. Btw I didntt want to start discussing any of this, but it is the 2nd of 3rd time that you said in your videos something like "I like capitalism but .." and then complain about something that is the result of it, and I find it ironic.

Flowers

They *won't* or they *can't* without hurting their livelihoods? It's tough to say. The big streamers like Ginny and Shorts have to chase the audience; most players don't know or don't care about wotc's shenanigans. It's a big gamble to make. Conformity is comfortable in this case. It's a common lament among DMs that players are loathe to trying new systems. Darrington Press's Dagger Heart is the one I'm watching. I could see it pulling in a lot of the new style players who model their games after Critical Role.
