This is gonna be great! I love this adventure, excited to see your take on b4 PDM!

Haha! I love your annoyance to things. Isn't that always the way? When I'm doing nothing the house is quiet, kids are reading or whatever. The moment I want to do anything that requires the place to be quiet my wife starts with the blender, my kids begin fighting, and the neighbor decides it's time to rev tune his jet ski. It's insane.

PDM, This is great stuff. I love hearing what you all are up to and how you interpret things. I think the idea of having a home base inside the dungeon is super helpful. Five Torches deep uses a return roll and could be used to do some delving and then getting back to base. Did you have them deduct HP every time they ran away or engaged in a fight? It would seem that they would be very low on hp, from what you described. I like an overloaded encounter die, it helps me keep track of all the stuff together: Food, light, rest, encounter, clues, nothing/free turn. I roll it about every three rooms or sections, depending on noise or how fast they go.

Frederic Schmitt

This is exactly what my players would do in a sandbox mega dungeon I guess.

Lee Caddick

That sounded like a lot of fun!

So if the fate die effects damage, are you throwing it once per encounter per character? the party? If its any more than that, how does it beat just rolling the damage die?

I hate when people shit on Temple of Doom. Its actually my favorite Indiana Jones movie. I was six when it came out. I like and remember liking Raiders when I was little but Temple was my go to Jones flick. I remember sitting on the living room floor in my PJs, lil brother in tow, Mom on the couch. We never got tired of Indy. Willy Scott is by far the best Jones girl. Hilarious. And don't forget Short Round, "Indy! Cover your heart!"

Always cool getting a rundown on how things went in a game. I find it helps if a similar situation arises in my game, and I can draw on a related event to help me out.

As a kid I hated Raiders, as I got older I liked it. Again yes, everyone hates on Temple of Doom for a bunch of reasons that makes me say, "go back and watch The Last Crusade. Yes, I love it. Yes, it's also stupid." TEMPLE OF DOOM IS GOAT

I love these types of videos.

You only using the 3 stats in your new version of the game reminds me of our tables 3 stats.

PDM, you need one of those ON AIR signs no one can miss. :D

@DungeonCraft Thanks for sharing this fantastic update! I loved the description of the Lost City and how to run it. I especially liked how you handle Secret Doors. I love that your PCs Regarding the rules changes, I find it interesting the direction you are going with DeathBringer, I want to add to the discussion so here is what I think: If feel strongly you are getting close to squeezing the flavor out of the game and making it too generic. The fate die approach is an interesting mechanic which I kinda like, however the - (Minus) should equal minimum damage, Blank average damage, + (Plus) Maximum damage. Seems a good compromise and satisfies those who like the element of chance and rolling dice and those who don't want to or care about throwing dice, as always with compromises if it fully satisfies no one, you know it is good, so there is that. :) Regarding character stats, I think the six stats are near perfect and should not be trifled with. I think you get more opportunities for character customization, saving throws etc with six rather than fewer; of course at the expense of complexity. IMHO, the problematic stats have always been the Emotional Quotient stats: -Intelligence, measuring ability to reason, mental acuity, accuracy of recall -Wisdom, measuring perception and insight, street smarts, cleverness, and perceptiveness -Charisma, measuring force of personality persuasiveness, personal magnetism, ability to lead because they rely on the player to have some of their own actual EQ in order to properly play the role of a PC with high Int, Wis, or Cha stats. For example, I knew a guy who was a big dumb lummox in real life, he could play any fighter to a tee, any other character type he played was a mitigated disaster. Same with Intelligence, a smart person can play a fool, however a fool will have a tough time playing an intelligent person. Charisma is the same, you have to have some ability to lead and a forceful personality to play a character with high Charisma, a wilting violet will struggle to play a high charisma PC. Do I have a solution to this issue, no, but I still don't think you should shrink number of abilities. Thank you again for doing what you do!

Suggested new verse for the DB song: Mmm, mmm, mmm there was boy, they called him Gunn, he loved Professor DM so much he stalked him on the YouTubes and joined Patreon too. He cannot quite explain it, but the boy says he can't contain it, he writes long diatribes to PDM and thinks everyone want else wants to hear it. PDM is going hire some Pinkertons to make MrGunn go awaaaayyy. :D

The survival horror aspect seems to keep the players focused -- they want that water, and they don't want to expend more effort than they should in any Encounter & get dehydrated. So they play sensibly, instead of killing every last critter they see like in video games. This is a great lesson: start off each game session (like you said, first 5 minutes) telling them their goal and their greatest need. They will then act with caution and get more exploring & RP done instead of turning every encounter into a war zone.

Love it when players ideas drive cool results
