SPOILER WARNING: If you have not watched the episode, do not read further... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Great episode PDM. The Magi of Usa-Migaras demand in a booming voice; Who are you? What do you want? then... On 'second thought', never mind, we don't care, screw you guys: MAGIC MISSILE.... Love Tom's response at 09:20 are you going to use another DeathBringer die to try and stay conscious, nope, then a second time, nope. Hey, what happened to Jager? D'Oh! sigh... Okkk... I will use my last DB die. Also loved the the old school vibe, I spike the door! Only seasoned dungeon adventurers know to to spike a door shut. However, this assumes the door opens outwards, most modern interior doors open inwards. It is always fun to surprise your players with: As you begin spiking the door, it flies open and you are confronted by the large angry troll you were just trying to escape. Next time, if you live, you will remember to ask which way does the door open. Muuhahaha evil GM laugh. I was shocked by shouts of; "DM cheater pants!", oh my! clearly living in the same house as one of your players does have a downside. Sleep with one eye open sir. Keep up the great work, I look forward to next installment.

Yep! DM cheater pants. Lol. How funny is that. This looked like a fun time. There are a few things I might have done differently as a GM. For instance, I likely wouldn’t leave the reaction of the NPCs solely to a random die roll chart. Gene’s character said he needed spells to those in the sanctum not that he wants to eat their children and burn the sanctum down. Random can be good but in my opinion it’s better when the results are general. General results might be reactions such as apathy, contempt, angry, confusion, ect yet leave the details to the GM as the response needs to fit the situation. In this case, angry might be to ask or force the intruders to leave rather than attempt to kill without provocation. Also, I’m not sure asking for Gene’s spell caster to make a roll of ?? or higher to cast a shield spell while standing at what seems to be a safe distance is what I would do. I understand, PDM wants the spell casters to roll to cast spells. However, I my approach might be a bit different in this case. Keeping in mind these spells are tattooed to the caster and they are cast almost immediately in addition to the caster being considered an expert at casting them with constant study, practice, and a very high intelligence. I likely wouldn’t have required a roll as the caster was at a safe distance surrounded by allies in a doorway. I try to assume spell users are competent at the one thing they focus on. It’s their one job. So, rolls might not always be necessary and if they are they would likely be a to-hit roll for a bolt type spell or when injured or under extreme duress for other types of spells. Even then the spell would likely go off but perhaps not at full effectiveness if the required roll is not met. The fighter raises his magic shield. Ok done. The wizard casts shield. Ok roll a 13. I just don’t imagine Dr. Strange or Gandalf having any significant chance of failing to cast spells they have cast dozens of times before even when facing a threat like Smogg or Thanos. Still, I must digress, as being an armchair quarterback is easy when you aren’t running a game in real time. In this episode, GM has a table full of players all talking at the same time while trying to manage the monsters, NPC’s, miniatures all while describing what is going on and trying to keep things moving smoothly. Well, as most might suspect, that is no easy task and what I believe contributes to the shortage of DMs out there. So, I guess I’m just thinking out loud again. Anyway, overall, the game was clearly fun, the players were fully engaged, the camera position was great, lighting was good, sound quality was good, and it was enjoyable to watch. Great job PDM!

I really love watching these. You run a game so smoothly, and you're unafraid of taking a bite out of the characters. Great stuff
