Just messing around and thought this was an intriguing thumbnail. The video would about why I hate bards--but actually about suspension of disbelief. So would you watch it? If yes, I'll make it reality.

Bagel-Man

Of course! I like the way Matt Colville makes bards like officials in diplomatic meetings

Brian Peters

Definitely, I’ve never played a bard

Bryan Stephens

Go for it. Actually, moving away from all performance as art, Bards are great political types in a game of intrigue. My wife did one in our War for the Crown video. Also 2027 for Deathbinger offical? Like close to when *I* retire? Man we are old!

Ben McInnis

I love Tim Cappello, but please....rake them over the bloody coals and drive the death knell screw into the heart of the bards that are so not bards that we see today!!!

Timothy S Wattigny

Bards are the worst. The only time I played one was a pregen I was handed at a FLGS tournament when I was 12.

Karl Agius

The description sold me, I'd watch that video. The thumbnail on it's own doesn't tell me anything though. I mean if I saw your channel name under it I'd click it like a shot because I know you make interesting videos, but if I saw that thumbnail with no context I'd probably pass it by. It doesn't say anything about hating bards, or suspension of disbelief.

James Mace

I'm currently playing a Kobold Bard named Beavis, so yes, I would definitely watch this! 😄

Christopher Capone (Wicked Cool Games)

Yes and yes. I love the idea of the bard as jack of all trades, but not great at any one thing (except maybe story & song). I dislike how it ended up as the bedroom antics minstrel for some.

Brad F

Do it!

Old Man Zed

Good subject. Always thought at best that bard should just be rogue + instrument. Don’t know where spells fit in.

Old Man Umby

I DESPISE BARDS TOO! Though I will tolerate the original 1st edition version.

Stefan

Let’s hear it for the bards! (If you’re old you can name that tune ;)

Matthew Crismali

I love bards! And yes I would watch the video.

Go Sports

Bards rock. My Lurvin Moonsong has been to Hell and back.. They are just terrible in video games

baldrage

I would greatly enjoy an anti-bard rant. However, you are missing a golden opportunity to use a thumbnail of Taylor Swift and increase your views by a factor of 10!

Robyn Derme

I would click on it because it's DungeonCraft, but not fond of the thumbnail.

Elvis Ramone

Hells to the yes! A Tim Cappello Lost Boys still for a bard video, makes me Still Believe! And he was Tina Turner's Sax Man, every bard should not only tell stories, but be a story unto themselves. Can they be jerks? To that I say Axl Rose. But they should also be portrayed like Johnny Cash, a troubled man who wanted to do good in the world despite his faults. The only OSR characters who should have a backstory.

Adam Maag

Sax Man always gets a watch

Declan Riordan

I would click it... I would click it so hard.

Adam

Lost Boys and in 5e I like Bard, before that they sucked.

Andrew

I don't like Bards as they are played most of the time, so yes, I'd love to see one about this.

Randall Case

Honestly I have never thought that this line of work deserved a character class. I can see a fight-magic user using spells to "motivate" the others with spells (maybe using an instrument as a spell component), and having a fighter's ability to fight. I'm not sure that a full character class is really needed.

Smarting

I think, the thumbnail doesn't fit to the topic. You should take a classical D&D party from some old module cover and then put a picture of a bard in it, to show the contrast. Don't choose an art style what is too contrasting. If the bard doesn't even fit despite a similar art style, the better your point will come over. However, I hope the video is constructive. Quite a few players want to play characters like Cyrano de Bergerac, Felix Jaegar or Dandelion, where they can engage in the fantasy of being a smooth talker or warrior poet. Others like the idea to be able to be a Jack in all trades, that can be a mix of fighter, thief and mage. And some just want to be the heart of the group, supporting all other characters with clear tactical options. There is a lot of things hidden in the idea of the bard and several reasons, why in almost every fantasy game players desire such a class or something similar. If there isn't one, they usually are the first thing, players want to homebrew.

Scott

You had me at pic from an 80s movie lol

J L

Don't like the thumbnail about as much as I don't like bards, so I think its perfect for an angry click. Since back in the day when it took all those great stats and 2 other classes first before you became a bard, its been a mess of expectations. And those expectations live on for other reasons now. Its just a platform for mismanagement. For some players it is just a lever to pull, continuously and annoyingly. For others, a vehicle for mechanical subversion and way to suck all the oxygen off the table. For the extremely rare few that actually handle this class well with style, I would rather see their talents applied elsewhere to the benefit of all at the table. I dont think I will ever be able to stop ranting about this topic. My blood pressure is up from writing this.

Scott Ruddy

I would totally watch that.

Gossamer Chains

I wouldn't click. No interest in bards so why click a video called Bards? I AM however interested in the "suspension of disbelief" piece, so I'd miss out because I'd have no idea what this video actually is about by it's thumbnail.

Maven of Pinetree

I'd click. I like bards when they shape the lore and perceptions in the narrative, they make less sense as casters to me.

Von Bek

I would only allow a bard in my campaign if the player of said bard could actually play an instrument and could sing (in tune).

Graymaulken

Id watch, but not because of the thumbnail (which gives off a magic mike vibe to me), but because l cannot for the life of me understand why anyone in their right mind would even consider playing a character as worthless as a bard. Well, not worthless. They are good for cover, trap testing, and bait. Thats about it.

DARREL MADISON

I would watch, despite the half naked sax playing barbarian intro

Telarr

Sergio.......

Mark

Video? Yes. Thumbnail? No.

Jared Davis

As an 80’s kid who loves “The Lost Boys” and “still believes,” yes, I’d click to watch your video. I don’t think younger gamers would get it though. Perhaps Taylor Swift in the role of a bard? Though I spent many days and nights at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk as a teen, I never did get a chance to meet any vampires or the beautiful Star (Jami Gertz). P.S. My brother who’s a musician has gotten to hang out with the sax player, Tim Cappello, and interview him a couple of times for different projects. He seems like a good dude from what I was told. I still remember when my brother texted me, “Guess who I got to interview today?” It was one of the few times I was honestly impressed. So much baby oil!

Graham Kane

Yes. Although I don’t think younger players would get the reference, it’s still a funny thumbnail.

Eivind Fartein Hakvåg

Yes. I don't get the reference, but I still like the thumbnail. I have never understood the whole bard thing. I'm open to having my mind changed, but I find it weird.

Charles Fout

"Lost Boys" - a movie about the greatest saxophone solo ever played. And something about vampires.

Frederic Schmitt

I click on every PDM video so maybe I am a bad reference. I am 43 years old and I didn't get the reference. Maybe use something more accessible to viewers of yours who don't know the lost boys (if it's a lost boys reference, I still don't know for sure). Or switch the thumbnail after 6-8 hours maybe.

Beazy of Cerberus Prime

Sax solos are underrated. Bards are the best class to role play…period.

Mighty Zeus

The thumbnail won't exactly drive traffic haha, but I'd def watch. I hate bards almost as much as I hate multi-classing.

Skyhammer

I would second a Taylor Swift image lol. Shes got them millions upon millions of young followers.

Trouqe

Yes, but now I can't get that song out of my head

James C

I mean you could have a blank thumbnail and I’d still watch it so I may not be the best person to ask. I also always thought bards are kind of a weird class so the subject interests me. As for traffic for YouTube, I think you may be able to use a better thumbnail but I honestly can’t tell you how to make it better. So I guess I didn’t help much in the end…

Rob Edgar

Love the Lost Boys - but I would pick a more modern click-bait picture - maybe from the Critical Role animated series bard character ? And yes, I would absolutely watch that video!

Christian Lindke

If Bards where more like Väinämöinen and less like cast members from High School Musical, I'd love to have them in my game. Sadly, most Bards I've seen and read about spend their time trying to annoy the other characters or the NPCs. It seems less about playing a fantasy game and more about being "theatre guy." So...yeah, I'd watch the heck out of that video.

Jim Van Cura

Bards can play any instrument? I thought they played the lute. Who knew?

jnlsn family

Bards are a dumb one note gimmick.

Broton

I don't know the reference, but I always click to watch your videos!

Cass wizard

This is a great thumbnail! Those who get the ref will love it, those who don't will find it funny or interesting. Perhaps, change the blue background to green as compliment color rather than analogous, but that is personal choice.

Darby Wilson

It’s hard to give good feedback because I watch all of your videos regardless of the thumbnail. But I would put an ellipsis rather than a period after bard. Id space the words out a lot more and then put a couple more question marks after “why.”

Brenden Smith

Of course I'd watch! Great thumbnail too

Mr.Suulix

Absolutely I would!!

John Delphia III

I'd click, Bards are interesting for not being obvious combat heroes

Ken Siwek

Absolutely! That's the spark of humor that gets me to try a video.

Tuska

Yes, and make the video

guitaRN.246

In Tolkien’s world…the universe was sung into existence. Music is fundamental and bards might have a little of that cosmic juice. This is not to say that Tolkien is everything to everyone but he’s kind of a heavy weight in our world. Just saying. Source: am a musician. A little biased.

NemoOh

Bards suck. Period. And they are stupid to include in a fantasy adventure but there is always some comedian who wants to play one. And they can't sing magic. They aren't half cleric, half thief, half wizards, half fighters. They only have a few thief skills (because bards have to steal or con to feed themselves) and charisma which increases if they roll well while playing their instrument. All bards die in my campaigns, because they should. No army takes a band to win a war.

Harmen

I would click because it's from dungeon craft, but not because of the thumbnail

michelangelo

The thumbnail could be a bowl of soup and i would click on it.

Mortan L-J

I don’t like playing Bards in D&D, but surprisingly playing a Bard in Baldur’s Gate 3 has been really fun. Actually I don’t like Classes being dependent on Charisma. I would like Charisma to be the stat that you need for number of followers and their loyalty. “But I still believe!” I would love a Dungeon Craft video on Bards, Yes I still believe ;)

Brent Norton

Shadowdark’s version is the only one we use now. Had a Scoundrel when using his Deathbringer dice while playing lute to play this low key musician.

TwinDad

Yes, I'd watch. Also don't hate on Sax guy from The Lost Boys. I Still Believe!

TwinDad

I used to think they sucked, and as I've pondered it, I realized I just don't like the "horny bard" trope. Bards can be fun, and I especially like the versatility that Pathfinder 2e provides the class, compared to D&D (any edition).

Anthony Cabrera

Vat thumnayl? Eet DunjinCraaft? I kleek!

Glumer Games LLC

Would I click just because of the pic? Not likely. But I’d watch it because it’s a dungeon craft video, and I know from experience that it’ll be good.

White Valyrian

I know im late but yes any content that take a dunk on bards is something id watch

Saltheart

If your channel were unknown... I personally would not click on this based on the thumbnail... somehow unappealing to me... and does not "spark my interest" --- just my take! (knowing your channel, I will watch All your Vids tho!!!) :-)

jnlsn family

Naw, it's good. It says everything about Bards that can't be said because reasons.

Evil Chad

If you make it, we will watch. (I think most people dislike bards/ except for a certain cartoon one).

Todd Sharp

Well, if your opinion is that Bards are douchebags, you found the perfect picture..

NemoOh

All bards must die.

steven bray

I kinda like bards just not the typical roll to seduce the dragon types. One of my few PCs i was able to play was a bard that did stand up comedy. I came to the table with pages of jokes and would insult our enemies. The other reason is i tend to play jack of all trades types of characters in a lot of stuff.

Drew Martin

Ginny D did a video on bards, I commented on it. How I couldn’t get into bards because I couldn’t imagine them willing risking their lives for treasure. They can earn a good living performing without a Dragon eating them. She took the time to rip me a new asshole for being lazy and stupid.

jnlsn family

Don't feel bad man, she's not a genuine hobbyist, just a 305-1 larping to get simp dollars. Her videos are occasionally funny, like the one where she says she's burned out from running games.

BRB

In that picture I see the me that could have been, the life I could have lived, the potential of my youth unfolded in a pattern so different materially and so similar spiritually. I see that picture and I weep for a loss I never knew I suffered and I rejoice that I was spared the hidden shame and fear that lurks just beneath those glistening muscles. So yes, I’d click it.

samurguybri

Uh, Armies take bands to war, even now. Especially back in the day to reduce fear, give commands and help coordinate movement.

samurguybri

Felix Jaeger! Great call out to the failed agitator, mighty warrior and chronicler of the deeds of Gotrek!

Cashton Cole Holbert

As someone in their early 20s. Yes, the thumbnail seems perfect. I kinda worry about the older crowd. I guess it depends what your main age demographic is. This is probably a case of having two thumb nails and swapping it out in the first few hours if it’s not working.
