D&D NOT Being Sold

Comments

Bagel-Man

Was not expecting this so soon, good job on the quick response

MrGunn

Looking forward to watching this. I come to challenge you, Ricky Bagel-Man 😜🤣🤣🤣

Matthew Crismali

Great follow up. Way to laugh at yourself. The deathbringer stuff is totally worth the flub 😁👍💯

Larry Vieira

When you first mentioned .10cent I thought why would a rapper want to buy DND? Then I realized it was a Chinese company, and I got my hopes up that they would bring Oriental adventures back!

Frank Lee

I noticed Stephen Glicker mentioned first thing in his reaction video that it was odd the story matched his video so closely, and could be exactly this. But it's the internet, you're allowed to discuss rumors and sketchy news, that's not against any rules anybody else is following.

MrGunn

D’Oh! Snookered by the commies again, it’s why we have to keep our precious bodily TTRPGs pure. Good thing you have DB to support you during this trying time; wait, what’s that you say DB about the lamentations of PDM’s credibility? Ouch, great job on the retraction, cold crow 🐦‍⬛ for the main and humble pie 🥧 for dessert are a terrible combination. Chin up, carry on.

Firstspear

I have to say - I was curious as to why they would sell their most profitable, strongest division.

Beardy B.

That was a very professional job of eating crow, and thank you for highlighting the non-committal language on the part of the company in their denial.

GegaHub

Hey man, you own it! Far better than most, still a fan!

Michael Schlobohm

LOL. The "Ye&D" got me PDM and Death Bringer. Sadly This kind of thing is only going to continue, and possibly get worse.

Spencer Wright

This was perpetrated by Roll for Combat, though unknowingly.

David Lake

When you put out a video like this in a timely matter I believe your credibility actually goes up. If only other media and YouTubers did the same.

Steven Fader

That is disappointing that they aren't selling, but thanks for the retraction. Sometimes your wrong and nothing wrong with that. WOTC feels like Hasbro's best way forward. Just my opinion: I would be really surprised if they got rid of anything in WOTC's core business (or anything they could turn into bigger revenue streams). Their financials just don't make them seem like they are THAT hard up for cash (they are having issues but they are far from going into bankruptcy). They have assets and strong operating cashflow (which will get better after their RIF). They have announced a strategy of going virtual and have stacked up their execs with people of that orientation, they are not going to be inclined to give up any asset that is part of that strategy especially when their toy business does not have hope of driving growth in the short/med term.

“Not looking” translates to all the offers we got were lower than expected. Although very small, there is a chance that Tencent or some other Chinese company wants the IP. Perhaps the speculative comments were leaked to test the waters. PsyOps indeed. At the very least, we all got to have a little fun trying to predict where D&D is going.

Adam

Well I thought it was a bad idea to sell to Tencent. I am glad it is wrong , its ok to be wrong. If anybody gets mad just ignore them.

Jay

PDM, you do your best to stay on top of current events and keep us informed. We all can be misled, make mistakes, and sometimes jump the gun. I really wouldn't beat myself up over this. Mistakes I have made in the past have made me far more cautious and that's typical for most people. Anyway, keep doing what you do. Any reasonable person would understand. FYI, the media lies mostly by structure (This buries the truth in further down an article or interview and usually in obscure language as the know most people don't watch or read the whole story). They lie by context (Paraphrasing what was stated or facts to misrepresent a story). However, they mostly lie by omission (Only quoting part of what someone said such as "There are many good people here tonight" and leave out where they said "I condemn that actions of that extremist group over there. I'm not including them in the good people here in front of me." This is how they avoid liability or retractions and they do this often.

Jay

Not a bad rule and one I follow. However, I strongly recommend making sure both sources aren't owned by the same multinational corporation. Mostly, I find independent journalists a better source as the do most of the fact checking ahead of time and provide citations for their media outlet sources.

NØKKEN_WAITS

Well you’re not the only one eating crow. BUT, this stinks of a scheme to test the waters imo. See what the “fickle fan base” would think. Plus, don’t be too hard on yourself. I find you walk the line between actual news on the hobby and how to do the hobby really well.

Stefan

No worries, the internet has a short memory ;)

This is one of the reasons why I have started to distance myself from social media and listening to commentary all the time. I even pulled back from YouTube. It is a shame. I have a little barbershop and people come in and say "did you hear this or did you see that". I usually say "no I didn't or I just don't care about that." Some times I give them a look and say "I don't know if I believe that". I think when we step back and not so close to "what ever". We can see clearer. It is only going to get worse. I don't think social media is evil or we need to tear it down. We as people can't handle it. We are the ones that make it what it becomes. I love your channel. I only watch you, Runhammer and Questing Beast. I can't wait to support Deathbringer. Have a great weekend and look forward to new videos.

This is how you can make it up to me. Do a video on how to run an Escape game, in the style of Logan's Run.
