Continuing from the post before this one... as you can see when I want to come up with new ideas my sketches become messy. I'm exploring and searching for something to jump out at me. Like panning for gold! I was NEVER good at cleanup art on paper, I was always chaotic and messy but it's how I found the things I liked.

I think with the use of digital tools that made it possible for me to make things almost perfect, I'd lost that wild, chaotic energy. The energy that created fun ideas and characters. Everything happens for a reason.

The Art Journey

To dive even further, I believe me moving into a house in another state away from friends and family is part of my journey. The house was a property I owned and rented out to tenants. Needless to say when I moved in, it was trashed. After a year, It's livable but still needs work. There's no more little gecko lizards living with me.

Living like this helped me rediscover myself without outer influences. Being here helped me cleanse the mindset of trying to make everything perfect. This house was chaos and I had to accept that. It's simple, I barely have furniture except a bed, chairs and some tables. Clearing the slate of what's actually needed. Not rich but no longer worried about paying bills or pleasing an outside company. I don't feel a pressure to make art I don't care about. All these things can muddy the waters of creativity.

All this to say I'm allowed to be messy, wild, unpredictable and simple again like I was when I was younger. I was always simple, things just got complicated when I forgot who I was. I still have a ways to go, but the flow of creativity is happening more and more. I'm on my path.
I hope we can all find our path.

Onwards and Upwards!

P.S. I think I've found a couple new characters in these sketches I'll be expanding more on. What one's do you think I'm choosing?

I can tell you really like this Twin-Tail lady with the pointy shoulder pads, looking forward to see more work of her, I also I see another Twin-Tail character with a vizor. Not sure if that's the character I suggested from a few posts ago but I also like her design I also wanted to say on the first Sunday Sketch all six of those characters are some really amazing designs, they remind Hauthe old Dungeon stroller: Gauntlet (mostly Gauntlet Legend and Dark Legacy) Amazing designs Milt 😀

Jackolantern girl looks really unique. Jackogirl? Jill-o-lantern? As an aside, with the heels you often draw on your characters, in surprised you don t do ditigigrade legs often

Thank you! And yes, already doing cleanup art for the twin-tail lady. I don't say finalized art because there will probably be a few revisions before I decide what I like most. Yeah I do like those earlier sketches as well. I'll probably pull some more ideas from them in the future.

Yeah working on that Jackolantern girl. Had to look up digitigrade legs, but yeah the heels almost emulate that look. I avoid going full on with that type of leg unless I want to go animalistic. When I was young all my characters had those legs xD But this does make me want to make an official character with digitigrade legs now.

Greg

That makes sense! And yeah heels do mimic that look because that's how the anatomy works (ditigigrade legs really being enhanced tippy toes lol)
